Alana’s life is shattered when a deadly war in her pack causes the death of everyone she cares about. She thought her life had ended until she was forced to marry the alpha that had killed her close ones in exchange for her brother’s life. Ronan had been looking for his lost fiancée for ten years. When he came across Alana, he was sure that he had found his long-lost love, so he insisted on marrying her and taking her back to his pack. When he found out that it was just a mere resemblance, he offered Alana to stay with him for 99 days until he had found his lost love and then he would let her go and bring her fiancé back to life. As Alana grapples with her deep seated hatred for him, would she help him and have a ticket to leave him after the days have expired, with the love of her life by her side or will she find a way to take revenge on him for destroying her life?

Chapter 1
Alana’s POV My mate was coming back from war today, and he was going to propose to me. My happiness knew no bounds immediately when I woke up today, partly because it was my birthday and the other part, because I was officially going to be Silas’s wife in the next two months. He was a pack warrior in my pack. There was a war that was happening between my father’s pack and the neighbouring pack, and he had to participate even though he was too young. I tried to stop him from going ahead with it but as usual, he managed to convince me to allow him to go instead. He said that he wanted to have my father’s approval when he was going to propose to me after he had come back. “You shouldn’t be sitting down here waiting for him all day long. We should go fishing,” Cami, my best friend, shook my figure that was sprawled lazily in my bed. “It is our tradition and don’t tell me that you are going to miss out on it because of Silas.” She rolled her eyes. “I don’t want him to come back while we are still there. I want to be the first person he sees and touches.” I told her, smiling at the mere idea of him close to me. Silas and I have been dating for the past five months. Even though there wasn’t a mate bond between us, we both knew that it was soon going to snap in place. It took longer for some people, and I was sure that it was going to happen for us too because he was my soul mate. I could literally feel it in bones, and he believes that too. “They aren’t coming back until the sun is down, it is noon now.” She reminded me. I let out a groan before I rolled off my bed and put on my shoes. I was wearing the dress I wanted him to see me with when he was back, so I removed it and hung it in my closet before wearing a simple shirt and pants. It was going to be comfortable for me especially because I had to ride a horse before we got to our destination. We picked up our fishing rods from my closet, which was big enough to contain everything I would ever need, be it my school supplies, my hobbies, and my never-ending clothes. It was the perks of being the eldest daughter of the alpha. Cami and I headed outside and got on our horses, even though there were cars. Only the royal family had access to them because they were pretty expensive. I didn't like them. I liked the traditional feeling of air whooshing through my hair as I rode on my horse. It was one of the first things I have learned in my life and it still remained one of my best hobbies. When we reached the lake where we were going to fish, I got down and tied my horse to a tree before Cami and I headed to the lake. Once we were there, we sat down and started to remove everything we were going to need from our bags. “So,” Cami started as she threw the line into the lake. “Are you going to leave the pack when Silas proposes to you and the mate bond snaps in place?” She asked. I looked at her, and there was a twinge of sadness in her eyes. We have been together all our lives, so I knew it was going to be hard for her if we were to separate, “We haven’t spoken about all of the details of our life together because he was preparing for the war, but yes. I don’t want to stay back in this pack all my life. We are going to start our family somewhere since we have both graduated from school.” I told her. “Hmm,” she nodded, kicking her legs on the fishing rod. “You know if you keep doing that then there would be no fish to catch right?” I told her with a subtle roll of my eyes. “You know what, I think we should just go back to the pack.” She stood up to her feet and started to roll back the line on the rod. “What is wrong?” I asked her. “Nothing. I just need to rest. I have a test tomorrow.” She didn't even look me in the eye when she was saying that, and my chest tightened. “Are you angry because I am going to move away with Silas?” I asked, standing up to my feet too. She didn't reply to me, and that gave me the answer to my question. She put all of her belongings in her bag and headed towards her horse. I wanted to follow her and try to explain to her that I can’t spend the rest of my life in one place but before I could even gather my thoughts, she had climbed on her horse and was already stalking away. I waited for a while to catch at least one fish and when I did, I kept it in the bowl we brought to keep them in before I stood up and headed towards my horse. I undid the knot and got on it before I started to make my way back home but when I was on my way, I reduced the speed of my horse when I heard a group of men laughing, and to my surprise, there was a female voice asking them to stop, and it was Cami. My heart raced as I sped up my horse until I reached where the sound was coming from, and there were five men who looked like they were freshly out of war. From the clothes on their bodies, I immediately recognized them to be the soldiers of the neighbouring pack that we went to war with. “What the f**k do you guys think you are doing?” I asked when I was in front of them. They smirked as they turned to face me, giving me room to see Cami’s figure, and what I saw nearly made me pass out. Her face was mutilated and there was sand all over her body, like they had hit her. “And who are you?” One of the men asked me. I came down from my horse and brought out the gun I usually kept in my pocket. “The person that would kill you if you don’t step away from her right now.” I yelled, but they all burst out laughing. “Okay, little girl. Don’t worry, we just want something of significance. A warrior from your pack killed our best friend, so we are going to take her away from you now.” He said and before I blinked, he sank his hand into her chest and ripped out her heart. “No!” I yelled, feeling my consciousness drift from me as I ran towards her, and the men left, hurraying and celebrating their revenge. I knelt down towards her and touched her face, and it was lifeless. Cami was gone. I shouldn’t have left her to go alone. I cried on her body, wishing that this was a dream but it wasn’t. My best friend was gone, and I was never going to be able to see her smile or talk to her again. I picked her up after a few moments, guilt coursing through my veins, and took her back to our pack. When I arrived, I could see that the pack had gotten fuller. The warriors were back from the war. I headed straight towards home with Cami still in my arms. When I got into the palace, I was greeted with the sour faces and cries of my relatives in the sitting room. The beta of our pack, Cami’s father, let out a bone-chilling sound as he rushed towards the lifeless body of his daughter and collected her from me. “What happened?” He asked, tears starting to stream down his face. “Some men coming back from the war attacked her,” I sniffed as I turned to face my parents. “What happened?” I asked them. None of them spoke, like they were freaking mute. My anxiety tripled when I realised that none of my brothers were here, and Silas wasn’t here either. I turned to face my maid, Nancy, who was standing by the edge of the sitting room, with her head bowed down. “What happened?” I asked her. She gazed up at my parents before she looked at me, her eyes filled with grief. “Your fiancé and twin brother were killed during the war.” She deadpanned. No. This couldn’t be. Silas sent me a letter yesterday telling me that things were hard but he was going to come back soon. “He sent me a letter yesterday, that isn’t true. He has to be alive, maybe a mix-up?” I asked, turning to face my parents. My mother burst out in tears while my father held her in his arms, “The letter didn't come yesterday, Alana. It came four days ago. It was just delivered yesterday.” I turned around as I felt my whole world dizzying around me. My best friend's body was right in front of me. Tyler was gone, my twin brother and my only relative who actually loved me, and Silas. The love of my life. He was gone. I tried to convince myself it was just an awful joke as my limbs started to go soft, and I fell to the ground, painfully slipping into oblivion.
