Chapter 3 - Night

1010 Words
I dragged the suitcase, took advantage of an incoming wave, and tilted my body. Flapping my arms, I held my breath, sinking into the sea. Queenie had finally reached the shore and saw me suddenly disappearing in the waves. She was completely stunned, with tears welled up in her eyes. "Christopher, what happened to you? Don't freak me out! Come out, if you die, what should I do alone here?!" Queenie sat on the beach, shouting in despair. I felt comfortable underwater, thinking, "You used to dislike me so much, now that you know you can't handle it if I'm gone, huh?" Sighing in my heart, I quickly swam back to the shore with the suitcase. Seeing me coming back unharmed, Queenie stopped crying and looked embarrassed. She turned her face away, pretending not to care. However, the suitcase I was holding piqued her curiosity. She couldn't help but sneak a glance, and that sneaky look made me want to laugh. Such a proud goddess like her always had a stern face in the company, as if she were made of ice. If not for ending up stranded on this island, I wouldn't have seen the vulnerable side of her. After dragging the suitcase ashore, I quickly opened it, revealing a pile of wet clothes. I was delighted to see them because the temperature had dropped by now, and drying these clothes over the bonfire would be beneficial. In wild survival, food and warmth were two major issues. To my surprise, among the wet clothes, I found several snacks inside the suitcase. Although they were just chips and dried fruits, for two hungry people like us, it felt like discovering a treasure trove! Originally, I was planning to find some shrimp and crabs by the seaside to eat, but now it seemed I could save some energy. Queenie and I immediately opened a bag of dried fruits and devoured them. I didn't let Queenie eat all the food at once; instead, we ate some and saved the rest. Consuming all the food at once would be foolish – who knew when the rescue team would arrive? Surprisingly, Queenie obediently followed my advice without arguing. Besides food, the suitcase contained various miscellaneous items, such as needles and thread, a man's identification, etc. I didn't discard these things; instead, I stored them, thinking they might come in handy one day. When we returned to the bonfire with the suitcase, the sky had already turned completely dark. Fortunately, the stars were bright, and our bonfire provided warmth. Facing the sea breeze, Queenie and I dried the wet clothes together, listening to the distant sounds of insects and birds in the jungle. The cooperative atmosphere between a man and a woman made me feel a bit warm. It was like we were on vacation. Camping with a beauty like Queenie on this deserted island – it was something that could only happen in dreams, and now it was a reality. Of course, if she didn't dislike me so much, we could have had even more wonderful experiences, like engaging in the most primitive and instinctive activities between a man and a woman. Unfortunately, that idea was unrealistic. Since the incident on the beach, Queenie became more guarded against me, occasionally casting wary glances. While drying the clothes, she suddenly said, "Christopher, you're not allowed to have any ideas about me anymore! How about this? As long as you behave on this island and follow my orders, I'll give you a large sum of money. How about 200,000 dollars?" Queenie was indeed wealthy. She became the female president at a young age, owing not only to her abilities but also to her family connections. Her father was a director at Grandshine Enterprise, with assets of over ten billion. Describing her as a wealthy beauty seemed somewhat understated. It was no wonder that a woman like her, a princess-like figure, wouldn't look favorably upon a rural nobody like me. The men pursuing her were all wealthy and noble. "Don't make those empty promises. Follow your orders? We'll probably die on this island soon!" I chuckled, ignoring her. This silly girl struggled even to dry clothes properly. Several times, she almost caused a fire. Without me, she would probably find it challenging to survive here. Moreover, this island gave me a bad feeling, as if it were a dormant beast, making me feel uneasy. It was impossible for me to follow her orders. "What do you mean? How would I harm you? Yes you did pick up a suitcase from the sea, what's the big deal? Maybe I'll be lucky and find another one tomorrow!" "Okay, I'll wait for you to pick one up." I chuckled at the thought. Even if I hadn't found this suitcase today, I was confident in finding food here. But for a delicate princess like her, it might not be so easy. No longer arguing with Queenie, I quickly spread the dried clothes on the beach, making a makeshift bed. I lay down comfortably, and Queenie, seeing my neatly arranged bed, tried to do the same but ended up making a mess. Unable to watch her struggle, I helped her arrange the bed. Both of us lay side by side on the sandy beach, with the warm bonfire at our feet and the suitcase placed between us. We lay side by side on the beach, with a warm bonfire at our feet. Queenie placed the suitcase between us, emphasizing that if the suitcase was missing tomorrow morning, she would definitely kill me. I replied, "Then don't blame me if you find yourself crawling over later." "Stop disgusting me. Why would I crawl over to your side?" I ignored her. Feeling too tired, I quickly fell asleep. But to my surprise, I hadn't slept for long when I heard this woman shouting in my ear. I opened my eyes and saw Queenie sitting up, gripping my hand tightly, and anxiously saying, "Christopher, listen! Is there a sound from the woods? I'm so scared!"
