Weekend plans

748 Words
Melisande’s POV Yes, he is free, time to start planning. “I was hoping we could go out to the shopping centre, have dinner out and maybe go for a run in the evening?” I asked sweetly, it is not like he can refuse now after telling me he was free. I want to keep him away from the pack house gossip about the Blue Moon Halloween Ball being held in the Neighbouring pack. I was reminded of this event when the omega brought our mail in this morning. We had an invitation from the Red Mona pack to come to their ball. This in itself allows all the unmated wolves to go and meet other wolves, in the hopes of finding their mate. Werewolves are drawn to their mates by scent and fate. The smell of one's mate is unique. The scent is so overpowering that wolves have to find the source, leading them to their fated mate. It has been said that a wolf will search during combat if it’s fated mate walks by. Once a wolf has found their fated mate, it is very rare for them to turn their backs on them. This has been known to happen when the human counterparts love for another is so strong it outweighs the mate bond. Once a werewolf has met their fated mate, the bond begins to strengthen. Their scent becomes less overwhelming, as they begin to work as one. It happens every 18 years. Even marked mates can find their true mates on this night. The moon goddess is said to allow chosen mates to be able to find their true mate. If these mates were to meet the mark on them, it would disappear with the rejection of the chosen mate. This is a very rare occurrence that the moon goddess will only gift on this night. The moon goddess is said to strengthen the mate pull, increasing the scent of the wolves at midnight for an hour, so their mate can smell them. It is said their scent can travel for miles, driving our wolves crazy. This aroma will bring them together and start the process of forming the mate bond. The mate bond is so powerful it can make the strongest of wolves weak at the knees. Fated mates look perfect to each other and are designed to be the other half of each other's soul. I could not let this happen to Demitri, so this morning I purposefully told him that no post had come. I reminded him of the newly mated couples that needed homes. I knew it would keep him busy working out the building arrangements, so I used it to my own advantage. I took the time to plan to get him out and away from it all, hopefully far enough away from the Red Mona pack that he wouldn’t scent his true mate. I love Demitri, and he has been amazing to us, but he has always said he would leave for his true mate. After all, what will that make me? A has been? A nobody? An omega again? Or will he be disgraced by me? Kick me out? A rogue again? Kill me? What of my kids? I won’t be able to protect them? Will we be subject to abuse again? I cannot let that happen. I must protect them. “I think once we go for a run we should camp out by the lake, some time as a family, before the kids go back to college?” I waited patiently while he thought it over. His brown eyes seemed to be lost in thought, not giving anything away. I know I have managed to get to him before the news, otherwise he would already be getting ready to go. He sighs in resignation and starts to slowly nod. “Okay Melisande, get everything sorted. We will leave tomorrow at lunchtime. I will have a word with Lewis when he is back and ask him to stand in for me for the weekend.” He replies. I forgot he would want to talk to Lewis and make the preparations. I must intervene. But how? What could I do here? Tell him we will do it all. He is so busy with the buildings that he would be grateful for his Luna stepping in. My wolf Doris, says in my mind. She likes Draygon and does not want to be separated from him either.
