Chapter 4: Mr. Annoying

-Jayden’s P.O.V- There was a welcome party at Rutherford High, and all the senior students, as well as the hosts of the workshops on Wednesday, were invited. Every year it’s the same. Some music, drunk seniors even though the school does not offer the alcohol. I only do it for my image, come for an hour or so, then talk to some of the teachers then leave. I had just arrived; I parked my car and the music could be heard from where I was. “Hey, Jayden.” I knew who it was so I sighed before facing her. “Camilla.” I greeted then I walked past her to where the party was. “I hear my father has a new project for you. He might pass by your company next week.” She intertwined her arm with mine. “Great, I’ll be waiting then.” I continued to walk not minding her. “Can I join him?” She whispered. “You can, but you will be awfully bored as I’ll be too busy to worry about your presence,” I said which led her to remove her arm. "Come on, you know you want it." She said playfully and I rolled my eyes. "I don't sleep with clients and even if I did, trust me, I would never want to sleep with you," I said with a stern tone not caring if I hurt her or not. She thinks I'm hers when actually I'm nobody's puppet.  I continued my way to the school and when I finally reached the party hall, I was greeted by some of the teachers and after our small talks, I headed to the bar to get myself something to drink. After I put in my order I turned around and saw a group of people come in and one of them was Eva. She wore a beautiful dress showing her curves perfectly and her legs…damn, what was this girl doing to my head. I stood there looking at her and after a while, I noticed that she was looking at me too so I walked away before doing something I didn’t want to. I was in the back of the party room drinking what I had in hand when a group of guys came to the back and stood there too. “Dude, did you see the girls here? So hot.” One of them said and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. “Yeah man, that new girl Eva. I’m gonna have her wrap her long legs around me tonight you’ll see.” Another said. At the mention of her name, I slightly turned my head wanting to see which one they said that. “Yeah, right as if she was in your league to do that. I’m the one she’s going to do that with.” A third replied. I was angry because I didn't like that they were talking about Eva like that. If it were someone else I wouldn't care but Eva? She is off bounds, so I walked to them and when they saw me they immediately stopped talking. “How about you go home and have no one wrap their legs around you people,” I said with a daring tone. They nodded their heads and rushed to the other side of where I was. If Eva was going to wrap her legs around someone, that someone is going to be me.   -Eva’s P.O.V- We were dancing and having fun until I felt someone’s hands wrap around my waist. When I turned around it was some guy I didn’t know so I tried removing his hand but he was stronger and strengthened his grip around me. “Let me go,” I said at first but he wouldn’t listen. “Come on baby, loosen up and let me dance with you.” He didn’t seem drunk so he was doing this with full awareness. Disgusting. “I asked you to leave me alone.” I tried to remove his hands before turning my face to search for my friends but I couldn’t find them. At this point, I was struggling to get his disgusting hands off of me. “She asked you to let her go.” I heard someone speak just as I was about to slap the guy. When he heard Jayden speak, he let go of me and turned to face him. Even though the man that grabbed me was tall, Jayden still towered over him and I could still spot his big physique from behind the other guy. “Or what?” I can’t believe he said that to Jayden. “Or you won’t be able to wrap your arms around anyone again.” His voice sounded so stern that the guy didn’t answer and just scoffed before leaving. He knew better than testing Jayden Wrights' patience. There was no one between Jayden and me when the guy left so we stood there staring at each other. “Thank you,” I spoke. “We’re leaving.” He didn’t give me time to protest as he had already grabbed my arm and dragged me outside. I could see everyone looking at us as we were headed out and I was trying to set myself free. “Stop, let me go.” His grip on my hand was very hard. “Please, Jayden let me go.” I pleaded this time. He stopped dragging me when we were in the parking lot almost alone. “What, so you want to go back in there and have every guy lurk at you like you are some prize?” he scolded me. “No, but you don’t choose that for me,” I argued back. “You’re not going back in there. I don’t want perverted guys talking sh*t about how they want to do you or whatever.” He said crossing his arms. I looked at him taking in his words. Is he jealous? “What if I want them to?” I said something I never thought I would. He looked at me with surprise and furrowed his eyebrows. “You want them to talk about you like that?” he approached me. “Yes,” I said looking at him. “You want one of them to actually... do you?” He was still walking closer to me. “Yes,” I said again this time having to raise my head as he was towering over me. “Alright, then the only man that gets to that …is me.” He whispered and suddenly I felt butterflies all over my body before I backed away and felt the heat on my cheeks. “No!” I said looking away. “But your body says something else, long legs.” He was close again. “No,” I said again. He chuckled. “Come on, I’m taking you home.” He said grabbing my hand again. “No.” I protested once more. “You know there are other words in the English language, right?” he said while opening the door to what I’m guessing is his car. “You’re not taking me anywhere,” I told him. “I didn’t ask.” He spoke. My night was already ruined so I was going to go home anyway, and since Jayden is offering that, I decided not to protest anymore and got in the car. He closed the door after I got in and walked to his side. “Stopped complaining I see.” He said turning the vehicle on. “I was going home anyway so don’t flatter yourself,” I replied and heard him laugh a little. Jayden backed the car and started driving without me giving him any directions. “I didn’t tell you where my home is where are you taking me?” I asked looking at him. “Your address is written on your file, long legs. Unless you want me to take you someplace other than your home.” He smirked slightly looking at me then back at the road. “Yeah, as if I’d go anywhere with you,” I said to myself making sure he heard. “What is that supposed to mean?” his eyebrows came close together. “That means you’re not my type and I don't like your for you to make such jokes,” I replied with sass. “I’m not your type?” he was offended and I was happy. “Baby, I’m everyone’s type.” It’s the second time he calls me by that nickname and the second time he does not realize it. “Nope, not my type.” I shook my head. “Bet?” he dared me. I didn’t know what to answer nor what he meant, but at this point, the car was very fast and I don’t think he’s taking me home anymore since this wasn’t the road I usually take nor is it familiar to me. But a part of me was enjoying this, the nonserious, careless Jayden. I looked at him to see a defined jaw and perfect profile. I took my time to analyze it before answering. “Bet,” I said calmly and saw the smirk coming back on his face and his hands got a better grip of the steering wheel before he drove off someplace I didn’t know. ******** We had reached a beautiful building; he inserted a PIN on the keypad which opened the garage door. He drove inside and parked in front of one of the signs that read Mr. Wright. Jayden turned off the car and got out and I did the same. We started walking to the elevator in the middle of the garage when we spotted two people, a man, and a woman, walking our way. Suddenly, I felt Jayden’s hand take mine and I tried to pull it away but his grip was much stronger. “Follow my lead.” He said guiding me to the elevator. There were 4 sets of elevators in the hall and we stood in front of one of them and the couple stood in front of the one next to ours. “Mr. Wright, I see you have company.” The man said. “Do as I say.” He whispered into my ear before continuing the conversation. “Yes, this is my girlfriend.” He said and I widened my eyes. What the f*ck? I instantly looked at him and he tugged on my hand asking me to play along. “Your girlfriend? I see. So, your parents are okay with you being with someone other than Isabella.” The man said scanning me from the corner of his eye. Who is Isabella? “My parents do not have a say about anything in my life, especially not my love life.” He answered turning his face to the elevator again. “Well, I guess your parents would be pleased to know you chose a commoner. Then again, when have you not?” the moment the man said that I felt Jayden’s grip get harder and his face had anger written all over it. Unintentionally, I placed my free hand over his as if to calm him down. When he felt the contact of my other hand, he looked at me and I mouthed to let go of my hand. When he did, I walked to the couple and stood in front of them until they gave me their attention. “If you have the audacity of meddling into someone else’s private life, the way you just did, how are you any better than a “commoner”?” I told him air quoting my last word. They both looked at me with surprise. “Excuse me?” it was the woman speaking this time. “Seriously, if you can’t mind your own business, then why bother worrying about others? That’s just being unethical. Something you two should know of since you’re so…elite.” I said and she raised her eyebrows but none of them knew what to respond. I smiled shortly and turned my back to find a smirk on Jayden’s face. I walked to him and the elevator opened right on time. “Let’s go, baby.” I grabbed his hand and went in pretending to be his girlfriend. As soon as the door closed, I started laughing like a child. “What, what is it?” Jayden asked but he was smiling too. “I never, in my life, stood up to someone like that,” I said in between my laugh. “Never?” he asked surprised. I shook my head. “You looked pretty badass.” He spoke. “I know right? I loved it.” I calmed down. We didn’t say anything as we stared at each other but after a few seconds, we came back to our senses and turned away waiting for the elevator to reach the 15th floor, which I’m guessing is his condo. When the elevator door opened, we were immediately inside a beautiful living space. The living room was connected to everywhere in the condo, kitchen, dining room… and there were stairs in the middle of the room which led to the second floor. There were no walls on one part of the house, only glasses that started from the ceiling all the way down to the marble floor tiles. I walked inside, straight to the glass windows to look at the beauty that is Paris, I was mesmerized. I’ve never seen this city from this high up. “It’s beautiful,” I said my eyes reflecting the light of the buildings below us. “I know.” I heard Jayden say after a while, but when I turned to face him, I noticed him looking at me not the view in front of us. We stood there looking at each other when I understood that he was talking about me, not the view. Jayden Wright told me I’m beautiful.
