Chapter 7: Just a Phase Pt. 2

2061 Words
-Eva’s P.O.V- I stood there looking at Jayden and he did the same. It was very weird for a moment but then I chose to break our eye contact and go back. When I was turning away, I felt his hand grabbing mine and pulling me to him. Once again, our faces were very close…inches apart. I had to move back but I didn’t want to, so I stayed. I stayed and I let him continue to come close. I was looking at his eyes, however, he… he was looking at my lips. His hand left my arm and slowly started wrapping around my back pulling me even closer to him until there was no space left. “Jayden…” I breathed. I put my hands on his chest slightly pushing him back. “Tell me to stop,” he whispered and approached my face. “Jay… please,” I said again. “What did you call me?” He titled his head a little. “S-Sorry I- “I had realized I gave him a nickname by mistake. “No, call me that.” I shook his head not accepting my apology. I looked at him with a lump in my throat…what was I doing? He’s my future boss and partner in my school and the worst part is he’s Mason’s brother. “Jay, please, we can’t do this.” I pleaded but his arms wrapped around me even more. “If you wanted me to stop you would’ve pushed me away, but I’m still here.” He pointed out still focused on my lips. I felt his eyes piercing through my skin and unintentionally, I bit my lip and as soon as I did that, I saw a slight flicker in Jayden’s eyes, and his breath’s sound increased. “Don’t do that.” He said with control in his tone. “Why?” I was more curious about his sudden change in character rather than the reason. His eyes looked into mine after a long time of him looking down at my red lips. “Because it makes me want to kiss you more.” He confessed and my heart almost completely dropped. I wanted it. I wanted him to kiss me. I removed one of my hands from his chest and gently slid it up along his arm until I reached his neck. When my hand touched his skin, I pulled him closer. I almost felt him closing the gap between us…but luck wasn’t on my side, was it. At the sound of the phone ringing, I totally pushed him back drawing a lost face on Jayden. He looked at me like he was disappointed and mad at what I did. “M-My phone, where is it.” I looked like a lost puppy searching for my purse in the middle of the living room. “It’s on the table behind you.” He pointed at the location. I grabbed my phone and checked the caller ID. I don’t know what would have happened if Nikki hadn’t called…thanks Nikki, I guess. “Hey, Nikki?” my voice sounded uneasy “Hey, Eva, where did you go? I’ve been worried about you.” The music playing in the background was fading. “I’m sorry, but don’t worry I’m okay,” I told her turning around to find Jayden go back to his unphased self. “Where are you? I’ll come and get you.” She offered and I totally lost it. “NO! No need, I’m okay. I’m…home.” Jayden raised an eyebrow and placed a smirk on his face so I threw my small purse at him but he cached it before it hit his well-carved face. “Eva, please don’t lie to me.” I wish I could tell her where I truly was but that would only lead to more questions I didn’t know what to answer, especially not with Jayden in front of me. “Nikki, I’m fine. I promise. I just wasn’t feeling the party anymore so I left. I’ll tell you everything on Monday.” I said wanting to end the conversation so I directly hung up the phone feeling nothing but guilt. I hugged the phone to my chest before I walked to Jayden to take my purse from him, but what I didn’t know was that he was going to raise it above his head and not give it back. “I’m keeping this.” He joked. “Seriously? All my things are in there. Give it back.” I raised my arm hoping to catch it but the man was built like a mountain. “Jay, give it back,” I said hopping a little. We looked like kids in the park. I heard his deep laugh right through my ear and I liked it. He sounded normal for once. “You should’ve thought better before you threw it across the room.” He said playfully. “Jayden!” I giggled. “Alright, I’ll give it back, but on one condition.” He spoke. I’m not making a deal with the devil. “No.” I stopped reaching for the bag. “But you don’t even know what the condition is.” He softly pushed my shoulder. “It’s you. What could you possibly want that wouldn’t satisfy your ego?” I told him. “Okay, this bag stays with me.” He started walking to the stairs. “Okay fine. What’s the deal?” I said and he turned his face with a grin across it. “I want a kiss.” His face was daring. At first, I was ready to say no. However, I saw his grip on the bag loosen so I took my chances and approached him making him think I was going to do it. As I walked closer, his face became serious and he stood in place clenching his jaw. He didn’t expect me to agree. I was very close to him, almost leaving no space between us. I intertwined my hand with his soft hair and pulled him in. His face was centimeters away from mine, so I took the chance to use my free hand to grab the bag quickly while he wasn’t paying attention and whispered seductively. “Next, Mr. Wright.” When I said that I walked away fast opened the door and left. While I was walking away, I couldn’t help but smile a little bit. My hand was on my chest and I could feel my heart beating so fast it felt like I had to catch it before it left my body. Next time Mr. Wright…   -Jayden’s P.O.V- She was walking towards me after I told her what I wanted in return for the purse, but I didn’t think she would agree. My body tensed but I didn’t move. Her soft hand was in my hair and she pulled me leaving barely any space between us before my lips completely locked to hers for the second time tonight. When I was about to kiss her, she used my distraction as a way to grab her purse. I wanted to take it back but what she whispered made me lose control over myself. “Next time, Mr. Wright.” She whispered. F*ck! I could feel her smirk behind my ear as her breath hit the back of my neck. Eva opened the door and shut it behind her, though even if I tried catching her I couldn’t. And if I did, I would have slammed her to the wall and made her feel what I felt right now. I was filled with lust. I couldn’t do anything about it, but Eva did owe me a kiss. Damn it, long legs. Although…I usually don’t care when something like this happens. Then again, I’ve never asked a girl to kiss me. It just happened without me asking for it but Eva, she’s different. I like how she challenges me and isn’t totally under my command, I like that I have a little competition this time. I decided to take a shower and work for a while but instead, I heard a knock on my door so I went to see who it is. “Stay…the f*ck…away…from Eva.” Mason pushed me further inside my living room after every word. I was very confused, he rarely comes here, this was very weird. Plus, he’s never treated me like this so I didn’t know how to react. “Mason, what’s wrong?” I asked after he stopped pushing me. “I’m sick of your games, Jayden. I’m sick of watching you hurt every girl you meet just because you’re not the type to be in a commitment. I’ve seen you do you all this time, but now you want Eva? You want f*cking Eva to be your pawn?” he was angry. “She’s not my pawn, there’s nothing between us what’s wrong with you?” I had to lie, though, I didn’t know what was happening between us myself. “Stop lying. Nicole was told that they saw you leave together. So, tell me. Did you bring her here and do something?” He asked his face turning red from all the adrenaline flowing in his body. “Maso- “I tried to calm him down. “Tell me!” he insisted. “Fine.” I sighed giving up. “Yes, she was here. But nothing happened. I swear. She was here for a couple of minutes and then she left.” I explained. “That’s it? You…Jayden Wright…invited a girl into your home, and you didn’t try to seduce her.” He looked at me in disbelief then laughed at his comment. “Yes, Mason. That’s all that happened.” I couldn’t tell him about our near kisses. He obviously cared a great deal about Eva, telling him would be adding gas to the fire. “Jayden, I swear. If you even dare to hurt Eva, I’m gonna hurt you back.” He spat fire in my face. “Dude, what’s your problem. I’m attracted to her, so what if I want her?” I respected my brother but I’m still the same man that likes to be in control. “You’re attracted to her? Okay, let’s say…you slept together, once... twice whatever, and then what? You cut her off? You break her heart?” he said. He was right. That is what I do, but I didn’t care. That’s who I am, I don’t do relationships. “I will not hurt Eva.” It was true. I am a playboy…I knew that that’s what most of the articles said about me, but Eva…she was off-limits. “Stay away from her.” He repeated and was turning away to leave. “Why?” I asked even though I knew why. I just needed to hear it coming from him. “Because I like her.” He admitted then slammed the door behind him. My small brother likes a girl I’m attracted to. If it were any other girl, I would let him take her. I wouldn’t care. But this time, no. I want Eva…and I don’t care who else wanted her too.
