3. Nim

I followed the map through the corridors. This place was a maze. I guess it will take some time and a few late night tours to get to know it. I entered the residential wing and from what I read females live on the first and second floor while guys take third and fourth. My new room number was 214, so my best guess is that it's on the second floor. And I was right, all rooms on this floor starts with 200. I'm brilliant. " OK 210... 211... 212... 213... a-ha! 214!" - I said to myself. I took a deep breath and opened the door. "Honey, I'm home." - I said deciding it is best to start a new friendship with an ice cracking joke. Living room was empty to my suprise, and now I feel just silly. I took a look around and saw three doors probably leading to bedrooms and bathroom. Next to me was a leather couch in front of a flat screen, a little kitchenette with a small fridge and microwave along with a dining table for up to four people. On the other side of the room was a bookshelf with textbooks for various classes. While I was looking through the titles doors in the middle which I assumed was the bathroom opened and in the doorway stood a tiny girl with raven black hair going all the way to her hips. And when I said tiny I mean it, cause she was like 5.2 ft. She had violet eyes and… glasses. Wait, what? I don't know any werewolf who needs them, but ok, maybe it's just some fashion accessory to make her look smarter. "Hey, you must be Nimue, my roommate. I'm Veronica Cargarough, but everyone calls me Nica." - I said happily, extending my hand for her to shake. She looked at my hand like I had offended her. "I know." - she just said with her deep voice. "You know what?" - I asked her dumbstruck. I must say that she was one weird chick. "That you are Veronica. I've been notified." - she explained folding her hands in front of her. "Oh cool. So…" - I didn't know what to say to her. She did not seem to be talkative and looking for friends, so how should I break through this frozen heart? I don't think that Love is the answer here like with Arendel Princesses. "So?" - she repeated after me with an emotionless face. "Which bedroom is mine?" - I asked her. She pointed to the doors on the left. I smiled and happily went to open the doors. My bedroom was not large, it contained only a queen sized bed, nightstand, desk and a chair. There were also doors to what I assumed was a walk in closet. Walls were white, it all looked clean and new but without any decor it felt like a hotel room. "May I see yours?" - I asked Nimue. "Why? - she asked, narrowing her eyes at me. " I wanted to see what you did with it, mine look so impersonal and I need inspiration." Her expression softened and with her hand gesture she told me to follow her. We went out of my room and she opened the door to the right from mine. Walls were painted on deep green, which was a really calming color. Above her bed was a painted silver crescent moon, but it was odd, as its picks were facing up not left or right like it usually does. "I like the crescent moon, we have something similar on our Pack emblem, see? " - I told her, lifting my shirt sleeve showing my arm tattoo with a moon and howling wolf on it. "It's something different than you think." - Nimue answered. "Oh, yeah? So what is it?" She gave me another taxing glare, and shook her head. "Maybe some other time." Wow, this girl is closed like a can of beans. "Ok no pressure. So Nimue, tell me which Pack are you from? I've never heard of any Alpha Le Fay before." - maybe we'll do better with simple get to know one another questions. "That's my mother's name." "Oh, it's nice, gives you european vibe. I love it. But what about the Pack? Judging from your accent you're an American." "I don't belong to any Pack." "What? How so?" - that was a shocker, lone wolves or like we like to call them rogues never goes to this school as most of them are on the verge of losing their human selves and they are simply too wild and dangerous. "Are you always this nosy?" - she asked me clearly avoiding my question. "Pretty much yes. Is it somehow wrong that I'd like to get to know a girl with whom I shall live for the next three years?" "Two." "What?"- I again didn't understand her. "Two years. I'm one year older than you are." "See? It wasn't that hard, you told me something about yourself and it didn't hurt. So are you 18 already? Did you find your Mate?" "More questions, great." - Nimue said with fake enthusiasm. "Oh, come on Nimue. It's better than living like a strangers. If you want I can tell you about me first. Well let's see. You already know my name and that I'm a talker. If you are a year older then you probably know my older brother Vinny - he by the way hates it when I call him that. I love music, dancing and movies, but I wont say no to a good book either. It's extremely hard to get on my bad side but few actually managed to accomplish that, and the one of them I almost beat up twenty minutes ago. Now, you go." "Who did you almost beat up?" - she asked curiously. "No, no. You know the rules, first tell me something about yourself." - I said with a sneaky smirk "Fine. I prefer to be called Nim, because that's what my Mother calls me. I don't belong to any Pack because I'm an illegitimate child, and even though my father wanted me to join his I never did and till last year lived with my Mother." "Wow, so your parents aren't Mates? That's awesome. I've read that it's almost impossible to have a pup without the bond. How did they meet?" Nim shook her head and gave me the first smile ever. "No Nica, you know the rules. You should answer my question first." "You're good, Nim. Ok, I got into a fight with no one else than Eagle Springer. We go way back, cause she and her brother visited our Pack a few times when we were kids. Our fathers have a long time alliance. Anyway, while she was at our home she was really rude towards my Pack mates, and today she was being b***h to some Omega girl and made her submit. I really hate her guts and wanted to show her how insignificant she really is, but we got interrupted. Now what's the story with your parents?" " There isn't much to say. My father lost his Mate and a year later met my Mother and they got me." - she told me but I could swear that there is more to her story, but if she doesn't feel like talking about it I shouldn't pressure her, so I just nodded. "Isn't Eagle Springer Alpha born like you?" - she asked after a while. "Yes she is, but even Alpha genes won't prevent you from becoming a b***h, that's totally on you." - I said and started to laugh, to my surprise Nim also giggled shyly. "You know what, Nim?! I like you, I bet you 10 bucks that we'll become great friends till the end of this year." She looked at me challengingly and said. "You're on."
