"Mom you won't believe what i went through the other day" i told my mom as we were all seated outside our house one evening after mom was back from work, i had been wanting to tell her what really happened but i lacked the courage and i always kept postponing waiting for the right time. Talia had gotten better and everything was good at home, schools had closed and we had about two weeks at home before we opened school for another session

"You didn't tell me, what happened?" My mom asked while her brows raised at me in a questioning look.

"Well i almost got r***d, and killed to be precise"

"Ooh my God why didn't you tell me? Did they hurt you?" She asked concerned

"No i wasn't hurt, the person almost got his way with me" i said imagining the kind of torture i went through, were it not for the guy who saved me, it would have been a different story right now, i don't know maybe it wasn't my day yet.

"Why didn't you tell me? Danelya, you should know that I'm your mom, i care for you and if anything happens to you I'll have to blame myself for it, so please be telling me everything that goes on in your life, I'm not yet to loose you, you are my daughters and I'll do anything to see you okay" she said and i believed her. My mother was one person who would do anything to ensure our safety, she was my role model and even though we lived a low life, she always made sure we never lacked anything, she was the breadwinner even since dad disappeared with not trace.

"I didn't want to keep you worried, despite Talia was sick that was and you were already stressed up" i said trying to reason with her.

"Not a reason enough, Talia and you are my daughters, so don't think I'll care for one and leave the other one" she said and i smiled back at her.

I always remember the conversation as if it was yesterday, my mom was the most beautiful woman j bebe car across, she always made sure we didn't sleep hungry, she worked her ass off to see us happy.

Despite being a casual laborer, she made sure our school fees was paid in time and that's why I loved her.

Dad was never present in our lives but he would at times come to visit us in December, he would bring us gifts, a lot of clothes and a lot of food stuffs, i truly missed his presence, he always made sure we lived a perfect life, until one day when he stopped coming and calling, mom tried her best to find him, to look for ways and even went ahead to call his workplace but he was nowhere to be seen, i always prayed for his well being, and hoped that one day he will remember us and come back home.

Well after our three weeks holiday, schools finally opened and we had to go back to school

Talia and i used to go to a school nearby home, mom will wake up early prepare breakfast for us and we would go to school while she went to work, we always came back home around 3pm and keep ourselves busy with homework and school assignments as we waited for mom to come back, that was the trend.

On this specific day, we found something unusual as we came back home, the door was slightly ajar, mom wouldn't be home at that time so i asked Talia to stay behind me as i went to check on the intruder, i picked a small piece of wood as a weapon to protect myself from the intruder, i peeped through the curtain and i saw my dad seating on the couch, at first i thought i was hallucinating but it was clear from my view.

"Danny who is it?" Talia asked confused at my reaction after peeping through the curtain

"It's dad" i said whispering while signalling her to keep her voice a bay, all i wanted was to know what he was doing there and why he decided to come after one long time of disappearing

"Dad?! Are you for real?" She asked surprised

"Well yes, let's go inside" i said and pulled her hand and we both walked in,i acted surprised to see him

"Dad!what are you doing here?"

"Danelya, Talia, how see you guys?" He asked ignoring my question

"Dad cut the crap, you have been away for almost one year, no calls no message, what happened to you? Or you just decided to abandon mom and let her suffer?" I decided to ask and ignored his handshake, i didn't want to act like i was happy he was back so i pulled Talia to my side and we took the furthest seat in the far end of the living room

"I'm sorry sweethearts, it wasn't my intention to leave you in the dark and most of all to let your mom struggle alone in bringing you up, you should know that i love you guys and will do anything to see you safe, it wasn't easy at my work place so i had to disappear, i had to keep you safe,i didn't want them knowing i was communicating with you, so i made sure not to make any contact with your mom for them believe i had disappeared

"Who are they? You now explaining everything dad, just tell us what the f**k happened"

"Shut up! Why are you cussing at me?" Dad asked a little bit surprised that i had just used a cuss word at him, well i didn't give a f**k about it because the last time i changed he had abandoned us and disappeared with no trace,he didn't bother to know if we were okay or how we felt, he just left, so i don't think i should be calling him dad anymore

"You not our dad, you left us, you abandoned us when we needed you the most, you don't care! Now you here acting like you really care!" I said amidst tears

"I'm sorry my daughters, it was the right thing to do, i swear i wish i told your mom what happened but it would have risked your lives, i love you and your mom and trust me i wouldn't want anything bad to happens to you guys, that's why I had to cut ties but i knew one day i will come back to you and explain things to you, i knew you'd understand me because it was for the best, forgive me Danelya" he said while kneeling, his eye s were shimmering with fresh tears and i knew he was genuine, i found myself running to hug humans Talia did the same,we kind off lost ourselves in the moment that we didn't realize mom was back, she was at the door staring at us in awe, surprise written all over her face, her face was mixed up with different reactions

"Ryan what the f**k are you doing here? You left us, you left me to struggle on my own, why are you back, are you from your other concubines?" My mom asked her face ashen sadness clouded hr face. Dad released us from the hug and we stood beside him wondering what next step he was going to make.

He surprised us all when he walked towards where mom was standing, his face had no emotions, mom's eyes were sparkling and she blinked twice before her eyes flooded with tears, dad brought her close to him and hugged her, it was so emotional that i found myself joining the family hug

"I'm sorry my family, I'm sorry Alexandra, i

I should never have left in the place, but it was for your own good, I'm back in one piece and i want to make it up to you, i promise never to leave you guys, I'm so sorry please forgive me" dad said for the umpteenth time. I had already forgiven him, long ago when realized that there was no need of staying mad at him for long,i had to let go, I had to forgive him, he was my father after all

"It's okay Ryan, what happened already happened and i forgive you, at least you back to your family and that is the only thing that matters right now" mom said and dad nodded in agreement, she took the seat opposite him while i resumed my earlier position, Talia being the last born, went to seat on his laps, she was still young and i understood how she felt.

"I want to explain everything that happened to me, i want you to know why i couldn't keep in touch with you because it was for your own good, i had to protect you but before that i have to show you something"
