3. The Fake Smile

1084 Words
(Alex POV) Alex POV I was having dinner with my father-in-law from Crescent Moon Pack. The weakest pack in the Wolftown region. "Honey," a woman greeted me. I smiled bitterly and looked at her. "Hem," I saw her come in wearing fancy and sexy clothes. Her chest puffed out before her, even though I didn't think it was sexy. "Honey." Bianca Twain. She is my wife. She is the daughter of Beta Bruno Twain from Crescent Moon Pack. I've been married to her for two months now. Bianca is honestly excellent. She serves me well. She is also beautiful. But my heart feels empty when I look at her. Bianca sits next to me. Her father is in this dining room. We were talking about the Purple Moon Pack. "When are we going to do it?" Bruno asked. He looked very excited. While I sighed a few times. "Why are you in such a hurry? I have to meet with your Alpha. I can't talk to a Beta," I answered. Yeah, why would I talk to a Beta about anything important? I am the Lycan King. I am the most powerful shifter in the Wolftown region. Why should I speak to him? Sometimes I curse myself. I f****d Bianca when I visited Crescent Moon Pack. That time I came at the invitation of Alpha Vindes Kim, the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack. We were trying to discuss Wolftown. I wanted to make a big event for the Pack shifters. I had a specific goal. I enjoyed the strife between shifters to the end. I want to stop feeling the tension every time I cross the border, especially for chasing the girl of my dreams. But that night, I got drunk instead. I remember drinking a little. It all happened suddenly. Bruno came in angry. He told me that his daughter was pregnant. I was so shocked. I panicked and had no choice but to marry Bianca. They were good shifters. I also needed to protect myself from scandal. I am the Lycan King. The shifters respect me. I didn't want any nasty rumors that could ruin my business and prestige. "Honey, you like steak. Eat it." Bianca feeds me. I want to refuse, but she smiles. It's crazy. Her face is so beautiful, but why does it not make me tremble at all. I honestly forgot if I actually slept with her that night. I was drunk and woke up in the room with her. I opened my mouth, and Bianca fed me a piece of steak. I smiled. She immediately gave me a peck on the cheek. Bruno smiled to see his daughter happy. But why am I the only one who doesn't feel like smiling? "I hope you'll have that child born into the world soon. I'll be so happy to have a grandchild descended from the Lycan King," Bruno said. He was smiling. His smile was full of motivation. I wonder what his motive was. I just smiled as I occasionally looked at Bianca's belly. She is too healthy for someone pregnant. Her face is very fresh. She was also very lively. I've never been pregnant, but I know what a pregnant woman is like. I secretly asked my right hand Caleb to investigate Bruno and his family. Caleb found nothing about Bruno except that Bianca wasn't pregnant. And the ridiculous thing is that I only found out today after we were married for a month. "I need you to tell me the truth, Bianca," I said suddenly. "Are you really pregnant?" Bianca's face changed. The beautiful face that usually looked so sweet instantly faded. Her lips pursed like a child who hadn't bought candy. Oh, God. How old is she? She's so spoiled. "Why are you asking me that, Honey? Don't you trust me?" Bianca asked. She rested her head on my shoulder. I don't know what to do when she's like this. I can't hurt a woman. "I just want to know. Since we married, you've never seen a doctor to check your pregnancy," I said. I gave up. I had to pretend I didn't know she wasn't pregnant. Bianca looked at me. Her eyes were crystal clear with sapphire blue irises. I can't help but think that she's beautiful. It's just that she's not a woman who excites me. "Are you worried about me?" Bianca asked. I smiled. I always tried to smile at her. "Sure," I replied. A few moments later, Caleb arrived. He looked a little rushed. "Sir, I have something to say," Caleb said. Bianca turned to Caleb. She raised her eyebrows at my trusty Lycan. "Don't you know that my husband and I are together? You're really annoying," Bianca said. Yep, Bianca was acting like a hostess in my own house. She felt like a queen. And she is indeed my queen. But I didn't expect her to behave that way toward Caleb. "Sorry, Miss. I have an important matter to report to Mr. Brisney," Caleb replied. Okay, I have to save Caleb. I knew Caleb didn't like having Bianca in the house. Caleb doesn't talk much. He's a very obedient Lycan. But I know that he doesn't like the Twain in my house. I quickly stood up and led Caleb out of the dining room. Bruno glanced suspiciously, but I wasn't in the mood to explain anything. Caleb and I left. Caleb led me out of the house. "Caleb, what's wrong?" I asked curiously. Caleb had never looked so panicked. Caleb tried to look around. He looked worried. "The guards captured a woman at the border of the Silver Lycan Pack territory, Sir. She's a wolf-shifter," Caleb replied. I took a breath. My eyes narrowed. I didn't understand why something like this had to be reported to me. "A woman?" I said a little incredulously. "Why would they arrest a female shifter?" I found this ridiculous. "Is she dangerous?" Caleb looked serious. I know he never lies. He's very trustworthy. I used telekinesis to see into his mind. And Caleb wasn't lying. "He's very influential, Sir," Caleb said. "She's been looking for you. She said she was your mate." My eyes closed. I knew who that girl was. But I didn't know what to do now. My chest was rumbling. I felt something terrible was going to happen. "Where is she?" I asked. "We're holding her at the entrance to Silver Lycan Pack territory. She keeps saying you're her mate," Caleb replied.
