2- Philodendron

1896 Words
Lincoln was on his phone his friend Marcel who couldn't come with him to the auction due to his own little acting up at home. 'I really hope I could have been there. Have you met the Little yet?' Marcel said into the phone. 'No, I'm still in the room. Is that Princess there?' Lincoln laughed at the screaming in the background. 'Yeah. Manny was up all night on the phone with the Taured Government and it kept Princess up all night so now shes cranky and tired.' 'Why didn't he just leave the room?' 'Princess wouldn't let him leave. She would start bawling the minute he steps foot out the door. So he had to do his business call in bed.' 'She confuses me sometimes.' Lincoln took a sip of his orange juice.  'You have no idea. Now she's refusing to sleep because he left her in the morning without saying goodbye. Which he did by the way...she just forgot.' Lincoln grin at how tired Marcel sounded. He knew that his cousin's little is very spoiled and unreasonable and ever since she had gotten a new daddy, she had been craving all the attention she can get. 'Well, I hope you figure it out.' 'Thanks. I got to go, I think she just bit one of the maids.' Marcel sighed. 'Let me know how it goes okay.' 'I will. Bye M.' he said and hung up. Lincoln put his phone into his pocket and finished up his drink, placing the empty can on the glass table, sighing out impatiently. His watch read that he has been waiting for 30 minutes. Crossing his legs he leaned back looking around the room. 'Edgar.' he called out to one of his guards who walked in seconds later. 'Could you check with Shane on the progress. It's taking a while.' 'Yes, your highness.' he said and walked out closing the door. He wasn't used to slow service. Waiting was not part of his routine when it comes to customer service. He was growing impatient by the minute and was ready to just go home. But just in time, the door opened and Ben walked in with a smile. 'Prince Lincoln. How good to see you.' 'Ben Dover. Likewise. How have you been.' Lincoln said, biting his tongue to not ask about where the damn Little was. He stood up and greeted the man with a handshake. 'Wonderful. I apologize for keeping you waiting.' Ben said. 'That's alright. I was on a call anyway.' Lincoln said, being a gentleman as usual, even though the waiting was bothering him. 'Right, why don't you take a seat and I will send in Abby in just a minute.' 'Abby? She's a babygirl?' he raised his eyebrows. 'Yes.' Ben said and moved closer as if delivering a secret. 'Go slow on her. She's very timid and easily frightened.' 'Why? What's wrong with her?' Lincoln frown. It was unusual that a little will be frightened during an adoption process since that is what they are aiming for. 'Nothing. She's perfect.' Ben ensured and went out the door leaving Lincoln confused, but excited. The prince went and resumed his position on the couch waiting for the Abby to be brought in. 'Please like me....please...' Lincoln whispered to himself as he tapped his fingers on his lap nervously. After what happened with his last little, it took everything in him to even consider getting a new one. But after some intense days of trying to coach himself back to sanity, he had decided it is time. But it's not always his choice. Lincoln would never take in a little if they showed even the tiniest bit of discomfort around him. The doors to the room creaked open slightly. It didn't make a sound but the prince was attentive enough to see the movement. Nothing happened for a few seconds before he saw black hair coming from the other side of the door, followed by ears and finally a face. A really cute face. 'Oh....' Lincoln found himself muttering. The cute face slowly became a body when it looked like the little was gently nudged forwards. She looked back with a furrowed eyebrow and almost adorable angry face at whoever pushed her into the room. But her anger was short-lived when the door shut close and a locking sound could be heard. And it was just the two of them. The kind prince and the failed experiment. 'Hello.' Lincoln started. He remembered what Ben had told him and refrained from standing from the leather couch he was sat on. And his words soon proved themself true when Abby screeched and ran to the other side of the room, hiding behind the decorative plant at the corner of the room. Lincoln was left confused and a frown when he saw her do that. Did he look scary? It was apparent that he was definitely much bigger than her, but he was always told that he bare a soft gentle face and his expression is always welcoming. So it wasn't every day that someone ran from him. 'What's wrong?' he said softly, staring at the brown eyes that looked back at him behind the leaves. Her eyes were slightly red, showing that she had been crying at one point before their meeting. 'You're gonna eat me.' if it wasn't for his advance hearing he probably wouldn't have heard what she said. It was so soft that a pin drop would have been more deafening. However, he did manage to hear her adorable voice. It was smooth but also high. 'I can't be the first vampire you've met, sweetie.' Lincoln said with a small smile on his lips, to show her that he meant no harm. But it seemed that the word vampire just made her curl deeper into the branch of the big house plant. She stayed silent. 'I'm not going to eat you, dear. Vampires don't eat people.' Lincoln said. Finally, he stood up from his place. 'Can I come closer to you?' he asked. He made sure to keep his tone very sweet and more high pitch than his usual deeper voice to maybe lure her out. 'No.' she said unsure of the idea. 'It's a little hard for me to get to know you with the plant between us.' he said with a little laugh. Lincoln finally took a seat on the ground, slightly closer to her but still with a distance. He placed his long legs in front of him 'Philodendron' she whispered with that barely audible voice, playing with one of the leaves already distracted. 'What is that?' Lincoln said, not understanding what she means. 'It's a philodendron plant.' she said, eyes still on the greens. Lincoln found himself smiling at the cute way that she pronounced 'Philodendron'. Not perfect but he understood what she was saying. It was interesting that even at her scared state, she was still mesmerized by the object. 'Yeah, it's really nice. You know those plants release pheromones from their flowers that attract little beetles to help it grow bigger and bigger.' Abby whipped her head to look at Lincoln with wide eyes surprise that he is actually showing interest in the plant, like her. 'Yeah, I know.' she said shyly and hid further behind if that's even possible. 'What other plants do you like, dear?' Lincoln decided to use this topic as a way to grab her attention and interest. Abby looked at him cautiously but let her guard down when she sees that he did not make a move to stand up anytime soon. She peeked her head out to look at him who was waiting patiently for her response. 'Uhm....I like.....Polyscias and Ficus...and Japonica.' she said and quickly looked away from Lincoln as if feeling like she has overshared. The prince was pleasantly surprised. She couldn't pronounce the names properly but the simple fact that she knew them by name was impressive. 'Don't be shy. I love them too. You have wonderful taste in plants.' he said and smiled widely. Abby still did not show any signs of wanting to come out of the corner, so Lincoln looked around the room to find something he could use to maybe get her out. When his eyes reached the coffee table he smiled. Lincoln leaned his body upwards from the ground to get the candy bowl and place it in front of him on his lap. Abby perched her body up at the sight of the colorful candy wrappers in the bowl. 'You know I recently moved to a new place, and I kind of ran into a fly problem in my bathroom. So guess what I did.' he said while unwrapping a piece of sour treat and popping it in his mouth. He had gotten her full attention at this point. 'What you do?' she asked with curious eyes. Her hands were on the flower pot to hold herself up as she unintentionally leaned forward to try and catch a glimpse of what kind of sweets were in the bowl. 'I got a Dionaea muscipul.' Abby gasped at his statement. 'Scary!' she said a little louder. Lincoln smiled at hearing her normal voice. Finally, he had gotten her to speak up. He let out a chuckle and looked at her. 'Yeah. They are. I was really scared to even go near them at first. But it got rid of my fly problem. And then I realize it's not actually that bad. Sometimes we just got to get over our fears. It could actually do a lot of good for us.' he said, popping another cherry sweet into his mouth. Abby looked at the bowl in wonder. Lincoln wasn't sure if she had caught on to his little hint about their current situation. It wasn't a true story, but he figured that he could try and get her interest in plants into the mix while teaching her a lesson. Maybe it could get his point across easier. 'You'll eat me.' she said after a few minutes of silent thinking. 'Where did you get that idea, Abby?' 'My friends don't come back.' she said with a frown. 'What do you mean?' 'My friends....' Lincoln frowned in thought. She must think that the Littles that get adopted were eaten. 'Abby, your friends were adopted. By really nice vampire mommy and daddies. They are being taken care of. Just like how you would be taken care of if you were adopted.' Lincoln explained. It baffled him that Abby would think that. She was a little. But she was acting like she knows nothing about this world. Why did Ben choose her? He wondered. There is definitely something different about her. 'Abby, where are you from?' he decided to ask, to understand what is going on. 'Here...' she whispered going back behind the plant, which made Lincoln sigh out in frustration. 'No, sweetheart I mean, where were you before you came here. Your home?' Abby stared at him in confusion. Her lips in a soft frown and her eyes remained doe-like. 'Abby, answer me.' he said a little louder to get a response. 'I don't know...' 'What do you mean you don't know?' 'I don't....' her bottom lip start to quiver and she hid her face in her hands. 'Wait. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be stern. I just wanted to know your background.' 'I want my cotton.' she quivered. 'Sweetheart I am so sorry. You have been such a good girl.' he said to ease her fear. 'I want cotton, please. I want my cotton.' 'I-I don't know what that is.' he begins to panic. Abby continued to sob and her silent tears became loud wails in seconds, clinging to the plant pot for dear life to get away from the predator. 'Fuck...' ———————-
