CHAPTER 2: ELLA UNFOLDINGTWO HOURS LATER, SHE’D HAD enough—at least for now. A woman can only be expected to skim through page after page of legal briefs for so many hours on a Sunday. She pushed away from the table and wandered through the house, looking for something to occupy her attention. Wandering into her bedroom, she stopped in front of her closet, sliding open the mirrored door to reveal the rack of neatly hung clothing behind. Ella rifled through the hangers, looking for something “vacation-worthy.” She stripped down to her satin bra and thong and started pulling clothes off the hangers, trying on outfit after outfit. And no matter how hard she tried, every one of them made her look like she was ready for the courtroom. “Arghh! Abby’s right, dammit.” She had no idea exactly when her closet had been taken over by dress pants and button-up shirts, but it seemed they had devoured every cute or feminine item she once had. But she couldn’t very well shove this stuff in her suitcase. “That’s it. Change starts right now,” Ella spoke aloud, walking back through the house. She grabbed her purse and headed out the front door on a mission to the mall. Once there, she looked for all the stores she wouldn’t usually frequent—if it had a powersuit in the store window, she walked right past. And four hours later, she was rewarded with two armfuls of shopping bags full of clothing she couldn’t possibly fathom wearing. There were five tasteful, sexy dresses with short hemlines, daringly low-cut backs or naughty slits all the way up the thigh. She’d picked up a few flirty skirts and shirts, and after thirty minutes of staring at the scraps of fabric on the wall, a tiny string bikini that barely covered the girls and left her entire backside bare. She pulled out her luggage as soon as she got home and deposited her purchases before she could change her mind and committed to not thinking about it again. The week passed by more quickly than Ella could have imagined; she’d expected it to drag on indefinitely. But as her eyes fluttered open on Friday morning the excitement that she had felt when Abby had first proposed the idea overwhelmed her anew. She hopped out of bed, slipping into her satiny robe and enjoying the soft feel of the fabric against her naked skin. Already her senses were heightened, looking forward to her upcoming adventure. She crossed her room and walked down the hall to knock on Abby’s door. “Good morning sunshine! Today’s the day. Rise and shine,” she called through the door in a sing-song voice. She heard movement from the room, but the muffled voice didn’t sound quite as exuberant as her own. Abby had never been much of a morning person, and it seemed even their impending vacation wasn’t going to change that. “I’m up. I’m up,” Ella heard just before Abby opened her bedroom door, rubbing her eyes and stifling a yawn. “We’ve got one hour before we have to leave for the airport, Abby. Time to get moving in a hurry.” Abby rolled her eyes but started making her way toward the kitchen. Coffee brewed and half the cup devoured, Abby was beginning to look more enthusiastic—or at least more awake. Ella darted off to grab a quick shower, soaping up her body mechanically until her fingers skimmed across her n*****s. The brief touch sent a fiery heat coursing through her veins. She allowed her fingers to graze back across, enjoying the sensation as she had the feel of her satiny robe. “Must be delirious with excitement,” she thought aloud, but continued to stimulate her n*****s as the sensation coursing through her settled lower, between her legs. “Uh, I don’t have time for this,” she thought aghast with her preoccupation. She shook her head and got back to the task at hand, rinsing off the soap and hopping out of the shower to dry and dress. She’d opted for the most casual outfit she could compile from her wardrobe; a simple black pencil skirt that fell a few inches above her knees, and a short-sleeved, button-up peach dress top. She left the top few buttons undone, showing off a little cleavage between her ample breasts. She nodded at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, pleased by the slight change in her look. Instead of tying her hair back in a knot, she combed it out and let the dark waves fall unrestricted down her back. Ella grabbed the suitcase from her bedroom on her way out to the living room, seriously debating throwing some of her usual clothes into the luggage. But, she forced herself to keep on walking. Abby appeared in the living room a few moments later. “Wow! I wasn’t sure you had a pair of legs under all the dress pants you’ve been wearing,” Abby teased. “Yeah, yeah. You can gawk later,” Ella replied in kind. And the two were ready—a whole five minutes ahead of schedule. They walked out onto the front porch just as the air shuttle service pulled into the drive. The trip to the airport was brief, just twenty minutes away, and before long, they were off to Belize, for a vacation Ella would never forget.
