Quincy's POV The voice of my mother calling telling me that breakfast had been ready was what snapped me from what I was doing. "Coming, mom!" I shouted back. With one last look in the mirror, I brushed my shoulder-length hair with my fingers and finally grabbed my bag from my bed and went out of the room. "Here's your breakfast dear," my mom, Helen said, as soon as I walked into the dining room. "Thanks, mom!" I said and sat on the chair next to my father, Rick, who was busy reading a newspaper. "Morning Dad," I greeted him. My father acknowledged me "Good morning, sweetie," he smiled. My dad was the pack's gamma. My mom sat next to my father after she put my dad's coffee on the table. "So dear, what's your plan today? I drank my orange juice before I answered her. "Nothing much, mom. As usual, after school, I go straight to my part-time job." I said, and I looked at her. "Do you need me for something, mom?" I asked. My mom looked at my father before she looked at me and said, "Well, we were informed last night that the alpha's son would come home tonight. And we are to celebrate his homecoming," My father folded the newspaper and sipped his coffee. "I believe his friend who will be his beta will be with him," I listened to them talking as I continued eating my breakfast. I was aware that the alpha's son and his soon-to-beta had been in training for the last five years in preparation for when they would take over the pack as the new alpha and beta. My mom looked at me "So will you be able to come with us to the packhouse?" she asked. "I'll try mom. I'll call you when I won't be able to come, okay?" I said. I stood up as I had finished with my breakfast. I kissed both of them on their cheeks, "well, I got to go. I'll see you both tonight then." "See you tonight, dear, take care of yourself!" "The alpha's son is coming home tonight." One student said. A girl with a mini skirt in thick makeup said, "It's been five years since he went for his training," she flipped her hair, "I hope he doesn't have a mate yet." I didn't bother waiting for another comment or praise from their group. I went straight to my locker to leave my things and to get the notes I needed for my first period. As soon as I locked my locker, my friend, Emily, or Ems as we call her, surprised me from behind that made me utter a curse "Oh, s**t!." "Girl! Really?!," she said with a big smile. She shrugged "well, you know better than to surprise me," I said as I started walking towards our first class. Ems walked by my side, "You heard who is coming home tonight?" She asked me. "Who?" I asked innocently. Not bother looking at her. "Well, duh?! It's Caleb!" She exaggerated. I faced her, "Oh, really?! It's been a while, hasn't it?" "Yes, it's been five years since he left with Leon to train." She said. "Well, they will be alpha and beta, so it is expected for them to go into training for when they take over the pack." As we entered the room for our first subject, Ems asked me if I would attend the homecoming party at the packhouse. "Heather is planning a party this weekend." She said. A Werewolf can reject their mate. If a mate is rejected before the age of maturity, the impact of the rejection is not as painful as they don't feel the bond as strong when they are mature. But if a Werewolf with an alpha's blood rejects their mate, they can still feel the pain of the rejection even though they still haven't reached their maturity. It is because their mate is a strong alpha. Consequently, the rejected mate, although they have accepted the rejection, is still connected to their mate even after they are rejected simply because their wolves haven't accepted the rejection on their own. This brings unbearable pain to the rejectee as they feel the act of betrayal tenfold. The rejection has to be said and accepted by both Were to severe the mate bond. When a mate bond is broken, the Were can now choose their partner. There is no second chance mate. That's why it rarely happens that a Were rejects their mate. But for Garret and Heather, since Heather is only seventeen, they can't live with each other because she's still underage by werewolf law. But nothing can't stop them from being intimate or beyond that. I raised my brow to her mate, "what was that about?" I asked. Garret lifts his mate to sit on his lap and kisses his mark on her neck "MINE!." "Oh, please!," I rolled my eyes to tease them "We were friends first before you're mate." Garret growled at me. And the rest laughs at him. Garret is still uneasy about the whole mate bond thing and that her mate is our friend, that we practically always are by each other all the time. Even when they're already mated, the fact they can't still live with each other puts him on edge. That he constantly has the urge to keep her by his side all the time to make up the times that they can't be with each other. "Quincy, stop teasing him,," Alicia said as she sat across me. Wayne, Garret's friend, and Delta's son, coughs to break his laughter "Garret it's been one year already, man!? You should have managed that possessiveness of yours," he said to Garret. "Say whatever you want, guys," he sniffs his mate " when you find your mate, you will know how I feel," he smirked. "And what is that lover boy!?," I asked. He turns his mate's face around and kisses her. A light kiss full of love and respect. A simple gesture that we all envy. "You want to be with that person every minute. The only person in the world that will complete you. The one person who will accept your mistakes. And once you find your mate, you never want to be away from that person ever." Garret's eyes are full of passion while looking at his mate. "That's why he's always on edge,," Heather said, and kissed his mate on his lips. I eyed her, " and are you not?" I asked her. "Well, I'm still seventeen, and to be able to feel the bond, I have to be eighteen" She said, and touched Garret's lips "When I turned eighteen, that's the time when I will feel the full impact of the bond." She smiled"Well, that's what they say." Wayne drank his cola and said," Well, you're both lucky to find each other. I hear some Weres needs to travel in other packs just to find their mate." "That's right," Alicia agrees "And don't forget, they can be humans too."
