Chapter 2

1170 Words
Cassey couldn't help but feel worried while sitting on the soft and long sofa in the living room of Mr. Philip Olivarez's big house. She was worried that Mr. Olivarez might not agree if she asked him not to include her restaurant in the demolition and just let her buy the land where her restaurant stands. Her restaurant wouldn't hinder the construction of his commercial building because it was located at the edge of the land that used to be owned by Mr. Ocampo. While sitting on the sofa, Cassey couldn't help but let her eyes wander around her surroundings. Mister Olivarez's house is very big. The vastness and expensive furnishings inside the house are dizzying to her eyes. Their house is also big, as their uncle was not able to take away their house and lot, but she thinks that Mister Olivarez's house is five times bigger than theirs. "What if Mister Olivarez doesn't agree to sell you the land where the restaurant stands, Cassey? What will you do if that happens?" Archie asked with a worried tone, his face also reflecting his concern as he sat beside her. "Don't think negatively, Archie. Maybe Mister Olivarez is kind and he will grant my request." The truth is, Cassey is also thinking about that matter but she just doesn't want to entertain that much in her mind the possibility that Mister Olivarez will refuse her request because it might just discourage her even more. Cassey and Archie both looked at the old woman walking towards them. The old woman didn't hide the frown on her face while looking at them. She was the one who let them into Mr. Olivarez's house and told them to wait in the living room because her boss was inside the conference room and still had a meeting with a client. She wasn't surprised anymore why there was a conference room in that house because it is so big that even ten conference rooms can fit in it. "Follow me," the old woman said to Cassey. Cassey looked at her sibling who seemed reluctant to let her go by herself and speak to Mr. Olivarez. She understands his younger brother's concern because when they entered Mr. Olivarez's house earlier, they noticed that he had lots of men outside and all of them were loaded with guns." Sir Philip only wants to talk with you and not include your brother," she said grumpily when she saw the hesitation on her face. "Just stay here, Archie. I won't be long." She gave her brother a slight smile to assure him that she was fine and nothing bad would happen to her. She would just talk to the new owner of Mr. Ocampo's land regarding her concern. Archie just nodded and didn't speak. Cassey followed the old woman who always had a frown on her face. She even felt that the woman's gaze towards her became sharper. She just shrugged it off, thinking that maybe she just misinterpreted what she saw. Maybe the old woman was just grumpy to anyone. After all, she had no reason to be angry at her, especially since she didn't even know her. Cassey noticed that the old woman brought her to the library instead of the conference room where her boss was. She saw the words written above the door, so she knew they were in front of the library room. "I thought Mister Olivarez was in the conference room? Why did you bring me to the library instead?" "Why do you have so many questions? Just follow if you want to talk to my boss," the old man replied irritably. "Why are you so rude? I don't even know you and I haven't done anything wrong to you, so why are you giving me that attitude? You're just a maid here so you should treat the guests of your boss nicely." Cassey respected her elders and didn't look down on her just because she was just a maid, but her treatment towards her was not good, so she couldn't help but speak up. The old woman's eyes narrowed at her. "You are not a guest of Sir Philip and you will never be a guest in this house. So why should I treat you nicely?" Cassey's lips parted due to the disrespect of Mr. Olivarez's maid. She couldn't believe that Mr.Olivarez's maid was rude like this. Does he know that his maid treats his guest the way she treats her? Cassey didn't know what she meant but she felt that there was a meaning behind her words. She was about to open her mouth to respond to the old woman but she suddenly turned her back and left her alone. Her blood suddenly boiled but she could only watch the woman's back as she walked away from her. Cassey waited for a few minutes before knocking three times on the door of the library. "Come in," answered the cold and baritone voice from inside the room. Cassey opened the door and took a deep breath before stepping into the room and closing the door again. "Good afternoon, Mister Olivarez. I'm Cassey—" "Of course, I know you, Cassey Aguilar so you don't need to introduce yourself to me," Philip interrupted Cassey's introduction. He was facing away from her so she couldn't see his face. Cassey thought that maybe Mr. Olivarez mentioned his name to this man that's why he already knew her name. "Sorry for interrupting your meeting, Mr. Olivarez, but I came here to—" "Sit down, Cassey. It's better to talk when you're sitting," Philip interrupted her words for the third time. She felt annoyed but she endured his annoying arrogance for the sake of her restaurant. Cassey sat on the long sofa inside the library and gave a quick look around her. If it weren't for her important purpose of coming here she might have appreciated the numerous books lined up on the bookshelves. It seems that Mr. Olivarez loves to read books. Her eyes stared at the broad back of the man standing in front of her. His shoulders were also broad and his muscles looked strong. Even though he was wearing a long-sleeved shirt folded up to his elbows, the well-defined shape of his body and his strong muscles could still be seen through his clothes. It was obvious that he takes good care of his body at the gym, so even though he is old, his physique is still impressive. Cassey is wondering why Mr. Olivarez didn't face her even if she was already inside the room and talking with him. It makes him more arrogant. "Mister Olivarez, I came here to ask for your help regarding—" "Long time no see, Cassey," the man greeted Cassey as he turned around and faced her. Cassey felt as if her tongue had been swallowed and couldn't believe that she was staring at the face of the man she never expected to see again.
