“How many are in today Melanie?” Cullen asked his Personal assistant immediately he got in the office building, he had a busy schedule that day, so he just wanted to start it early enough so he could get done before the day ended.

“Not much sir, just what you asked and a few more sculptures are to be brought in by the end of the day” she said, Melanie was his personal assistant and secretary at the same time, she had been working with him for close to five years and was among his best and trusted employees in the company.

“Okay, just get back to work and bring me those exhibition papers on my desk, I would like to organize for one.”

“Okay sir, right away.” She said as she got busy on her laptop.

Cullen got in his office and started preparing for the day; he had to plan and organize for an exhibition which was to happen the following week and also had a budget to plan.

Just as he got on his desk, his phone rung, it was Chloe calling his phone and he took a deep breath

Damn, I was supposed to call her sister about the job, I totally forgot about it and now she is going to kill me, damn it! He said to himself as he picked the call and received

“I am sorry Chloe it totally escaped my mind, I will have my secretary call her right away, I just had so much to think about this morning and my mom too is kind pressuring, so it escaped my mind, I am sorry” he blubbered and Chloe chuckled on the other end

“Oh, come on dude, that is not even why I am calling, you are funny though” she said while still laughing and Cullen laughed

“What, I thought that is why you were calling me, I mean I was to call her but I just forgot about it, my mom is giving me one hell of a time and it kind of slipped off my mind, but don’t worry, I will have to ask Melanie to call her immediately, it is still at nine and I believe she will be here by Eleven, so I could guide her around on what to do.”

“That is okay but that is not the reason why I called though, and I heard you mention something to do with your mom pressuring you, what is it this time round, I mean you are always complaining about her and the way she loves you, what did she do?”

“I wish you knew how my mom is sometimes, very inconsiderate and this is my life we are talking about, anyway, she is still my mom though and I love her but her deals and commands are just on another level, I don’t know how to handle anything when it come to her she will always find a way of manipulating me or coaxing me into doing things her own way.”

“You are only telling me stories but you are not telling me what exactly is going on, what did she do this time round and you might even be surprised that it is nothing and you just like complaining about her but don’t forget, she is your mom and you are her only child, so expect much from her and the immense love is something that you will always get from her, that trust me, so what did she tell you this early morning that cold piss you off like this?”

“My mom, was at my house at six and she was just ether to remind me that it is time for me to get married, I don’t know why she keeps pressuring me but I don’t why she would even bother herself like seriously Chloe, I am just twenty-nine and the pressure my mom has on me, you would think that I am a forty-five year bachelor man, I don’t know what else to do, damn my mother can be something else sometimes.” He said and Chloe laughed.

“Ha-ha, you are funny Cullen, you are not even twenty-nine, you are turning thirty soon and I think your mom is right, you should find a beautiful lady and marry, look at Arnold and I, we are already expecting our firstborn child and look at you, if you would ask for my opinion, I am going to have to agree with your mom, Cullen no one is perfect but we are always trying to perfect our imperfections, that is all that matters you don’t have to find a perfect woman to marry but you two can be perfect together.”

“There you go again, just like my mom, I don’t even know why I told you in the first place, all my friends are now siding with my mom and she just gave me an ultimatum.”

“Wait what? And what was it?”

“I have like two months to look for a wife, she wants to attend my weeding come January next year so that leaves me with two months to look for a wife to take home, failure to which she will disown me or she will cease to be my mom, if I remember so well and you know that woman, she never jokes with things like that, I don’t know what to do anymore maybe you and Arnold should hook me up with a perfect woman for that matter, I love my mom and I wouldn’t want to disappoint her or lose her, I will just have to look for an option.” he said and Chloe sighed, she knew that was a tricky situation for her friend, torn in between choosing what is best for you, what makes you happy or making your mom happy.

“I will ask you one question though, are you ready to get married, do you want to do it because you want to or because your mom is pressuring you to do so?”

“You know the answer to that Chloe, I don’t want to marry right now, at least not now until I find my perfect match, like the kind of a woman I want to marry but I can’t lose my mom either, I want her happy and if that makes her happy then why not just do it for once and stop this back and forth thing?”

“That is not a good idea, your mom didn’t mean what she said, she can’t disown you just because you are not ready to marry, she loves you and wouldn’t put you in such a compromised situation, you can talk to your parents over the weekend to see what they have to say before you rush into doing something you are not yet ready to do, this is your life that we are talking about, marriage is like a lifetime commitment that you have to be sure of, you don’t want to end up with a person you don’t love for the rest of your life, that will be like punishing your own kids and I don’t think you are ready for that, are you?” She asked and Cullen sighed, it was clear that he was not ready for any of that but he was left with no option and maybe talking to both his parents during the weekend like Chloe had suggested was the last hopeful option he had before he had to decide on what he was going to do.

“Honestly, I don’t even want to think about it, leave alone do it, I will try and do what you just said, meanwhile I don’t want this to ruin the rest of my day, enough about me, now what did you want to tell me? I hope nothing is wrong?”

“No of course not, you asked me to talk to one of my business associates, just found out that he is also into arts and he actually wanted to attend your exhibition come next week, I believe from that you two will know how to handle it, he is a good friend of my boss and I believe that is a catch for your company, you know the famous museum in Florida right?”

“That privately owned Museum Company, of course yes, who doesn’t know about it?”

“Well, he is the co-owner, it is actually a family business run by two brothers, I gave him your card, so you should be expecting his call any time soon.”

“Oh thank you a lot, Chloe that would mean so much to me, I appreciate your efforts, you know that means so much to me.”

“What are friends for Cullen, you have almost done enough for me and my family, and you also agreed to take my sister to do her internship at your company, I should be the one saying thank you, anyway, I got to go now, I have this party I want to hold and it is keeping me quite busy these days.”

“What is the party all about?”

“It is supposed to be a surprise, I don’t want you meddling into it even before I am done with it and don’t tell Arnold about it though.”

“You know me Chloe, anyway, could you please send me Amelia’s number let me just call her right after I am done with you so that I don’t forget.”

“I already forwarded it to you, you always forgetful, just check your mail, anyway, I got to go, talk later” she said and hung up.

Cullen got back to work before he could work on the paper works, he decided to first call Amelia and direct her to his company, he picked his office phone and dialed her number it rung twice before she could pick it, the moment he heard her voice, he stopped doing what he was doing and decided to concentrate on the call, she had such a lovely voice.

“Miss Amelia Watson, my name is Cullen Smith from Smith’s Art Museum Company, I am calling you about the internship offer, can you avail yourself here in two hours’ time please, sorry for calling so late but I would like to know when you will be available.” He said professionally.

“Oh, thank you Sir, I was expecting your call, I can be there in an hour.” She said politely

“Okay, see you then and please don’t be late, I have a meeting to attend to but before that I would like to show you around and what is expected of you”

“Okay sir, I will be there within an hour.” She said with a sheer of excitement in her voice.
