Prologue

584 Words
Once upon a time, in a forgotten realm of barren earth, and cold stench of death, fell a drop of God's light. Its warmth seeped into the ground, nourishing it, giving birth to a beautiful white rose, the embodiment of God's grace itself. It flourished in the otherwise dead land, and as its roots grew deep into the ground, the realm was gifted with life once again. The gleaming flower wished to be worshipped, and thus created a whole world, unknown to anyone outside that realm. Magical creatures rose from its petals, taking whatever form the flower blessed them with. Some were made of the earth itself, heavy and strong like mountains, while some were fragile and small, like grey fragments of the sky. The world grew, and new creatures were born every year, until a creature had been born from almost every petal. They worshipped the rose just like it had wanted, eventually naming it Divignus, the light of God. Everything continued in harmony as the creatures lived together in peace, but there were still three untouched petals left, waiting for creatures to be born from them. Everyone wondered what would come into existence next, as years passed by without any new appearance. However, as the three millionth year approached, a new species was finally born. Ferocious and scaled, enormous in size, with the ability to breathe fire through their noses when in their true form. Wings that extended for miles, and pointed tails, sharp enough to cut through flesh. Yet as exhaustion took over them, they became smaller than trees, with two legs to walk around, and two hands to help themselves eat. Ambitious creatures, with strong minds and sharp thinking, accompanied with equally powerful bodies. Their skin even in human form, rigid as leather. They believed they were meant to rule the world, and in less than a decade, they started to take over. They came to be known as Dracones, and wished to turn the whole world into their Kingdom, only meant to serve them. Divignus loved watching its creation flourish, but when they restricted the rest of the creatures from visiting their Creator, it was angered and felt betrayed by their actions. It thus gave birth to a new species, with strong magic running through their blood, and the ability to channel it in different ways. It wanted to make them invincible, but it would not repeat its old mistake. So it gave them a weakness. There was a limit to their power, one they could never cross. And the source of it was Divignus itself, bounding them to the flower for eternity. Divignus had hoped the competition would weaken the Dracones, but to its disappointment, the new species did not prove strong enough. They had the power within them, but not the proper means to channel it. They lacked a leader, a teacher, who would guide them and pull them out of the darkness of ignorance, and help them achieve their true potential. And thus, using its last and strongest petal, the light of God gave birth to one last creature. A caster, just like the ones she was meant to lead, but without any limits to her power. A fragile, graceful and beautiful young girl to the ones who looked at her, but a hurricane of power before those who challenged her. She was the Slayer of Dracones, and the Goddess of Castery. The Daughter of Light herself. Elaine Maeve. - - - - - -
