Chapter 2 The Fake Family

1321 Words
Aaron In the past 412 years of my life, I've never seen someone so whipped. Jax is my second in command, the Beta of the warewolf pack and unfortunately one of my best friend, even though he is 388 years younger than me, he never let it become an issue and to be honest I've never met a soul like him. He is the sunshine energy in the Castle and right now he is beaming with it as he had just found his mate, Rose Adams, last night as she turned 18. She is a warrior in the pack and is perfect for him. "She is absolutely gorgeous and beautiful and kind and hot and wonderful" Jax abruptly stopped taking and excused himself from my office with a strange look on his face I couldn't understand. "I can bet my life, he is just received a message from Rose in his mind link" said Cole, my third in command and the Gamma of the warewolf pack. He is the quite and observant type and I could trust my life with him. "I don't think he will be helpful today, at all" said a still smiling from ear to ear Kaden, my only other best friend and my right hand man. He is a vampire and around my age. I don't even remember how we became friends, just that he came to me one day and never left me again. If I there is someone who truly understood me is him. "I say we give him a few days with Rose and then give him the list for the ball month" I rolled my eyes at Kaden's suggestion which he retorted by saying "If you have a better idea then spill, if not then do what I am suggesting." Sometimes he really makes me want to punch him but then he wouldn't look good commanding the Vampire Army with a black eye. Considering all the facts Cole told me about the frequent attacks on the Northern border and a booming headache I use my Alpha voice, pathetically depending on the effects it has on everyone, I order "Leave Jax alone for today but tell him to look into the invitations for the ball and as for the preparation ask Rose to do it since she is now the Beta Female. Cole increase the rounds of patrol around the border and send a message to Peter Evans, father wants him here for something important and he wants him here by tomorrow night. Kaden send 50 of your best men to keep an eye on everything." "Yes Alpha" They both said in unison and Cole springs to his feet and leaves the office leaving me and Kaden alone. "You need to know something Aaron" he said with a serious note in his tone, piquing my interest. I motioned for him to speak. "I got news from the Eastern Witch Coven, apparently some old witch leader has been assassinated, leaving the coven divided and defenseless. They'll soon choose their leader, so that's not something we should we worried about but the real issue is the prophecy that kinda involves us" "Prophecy?" "Yes, a prophecy that dates back to the very beginning of the peace between werewolves and vampires. The witch Agatha, who is assassinated was the last decendant of the witch Mary who performed the binding ritual of the vampire king and warewolf queen and blessed them for a hybrid baby. It is said that Agatha's bloodline was holding the pact together between the species that were always at war with each other. Now that they are all dead and there is nothing holding the rivalry between vampires and werewolves, there is supposed to be a great war between us and you my friend, the Alpha King would be killed in it." "That's a bit melodramatic, don't you think? First of all, how is a whole bloodline dead and secondly killing an Alpha King is impossible and no one can kill me except myself." I stated the facts. Kaden turned more serious some how, " this is actually the weird part, according to the prophecy, you'll have a weakness that no former Alpha King had and it will be used against you. I didn't think much of this when I first heard about this and but when I looked more into the matter, I think it might be true. All I am asking you is be little more careful. We can't risk the war." "I'll be more careful and I want you to look and try to something more this whole prophecy and see if Agatha's bloodline is actually finished or there is someone who's alive." He nodded and left the room. I took it all in but it just doesn't make any sense. Not to me, at least. I started rubbing my temples but the headache worsens. Now there's a prophecy of a war in which I die on top of everything. Great! Just what I needed. ..... I made my way to the dining room and to my surprise my parents were laughing. Together. They never laugh. Not with each other. Not like this. This seems real and all they do is fake. Fake their laughs, fake their smiles, fake their relationship. When in reality they are just strangers who somehow made me to secure their place in the Royal Court and continue the Hybrid making process. Father married mother simply because he had to marry someone, anyone who could have a hybrid baby and mother married father just because her father was an asshole and she was a virgin at that time and a healthy pack warrior. That's all we are. A broken family who doesn't even have a moment of peace simply because in front of everyone we are faking everything and when we are alone we barely look at each other. If I am being honest I think it's because no hybrid is blessed with a mate so we ruined the meaning of it. We ruined the happiness a mate or a beloved bring. "Have a seat Aaron or are just going to stand and eat there?" mother asked, I gained myself and sat at head of the table with mother on my left and father on my right. "No one is here to see us. Why are you laughing right now?" I ask with a sharpness I didn't intend to use. "We were just having a moment son. Your mother and I were just thinking about the time we had you." "Me? Why?" "Because you are our son and we can laugh if we want to." father said like he laughs every now and then about me. Sensing the tension between us mother changed the topic to much more bad one. My marriage. "I want to you finalize a bride for yourself by this year. You are old now and you need heirs. So either you pick a girl from the ball next month or we will do that for you." "You can't just tell me what to do mother, I am the king now, father and and you have absolutely no right now to tell me anything. I will marry when I want to and not when you want me to. I don't want to hear one more thing more a marriage until I bring it up." With that I stand up and walk about of the dining leaving my mother seething and father yelling at me to have at least one child. ..... Every time I feel the need to blow of some steam I go for a run and let my wolf, Ace, take over. I feel my bones breaking and fur sprouting from my body and then just like someone who just got freedom and a taste of the woods, I take off for it is in the woods I belong. A beast. A monster.
