Chapter 3 The Flight

1260 Words
Rebekah Every year, just from the very next day of my birthday I start a new journal. Every year dad has been gifting me a new diary since I was 5. According to him writing does wonders for us and I think he's right. Writing down my thoughts helps me a lot. If I don't get them on paper, they take me to places I don't want to wander and that's exactly what I am doing right now. I woke with the stupid green eyes staring at me and the first thing I do after washing my face is get the diary out of the red wrapping paper and start writing. Dear Diary, 8 August 2023 So this is my first entry here. I won't be able to write regularly because of the upcoming ball at the Royal Castle but I'll try to be as frequent as I can.You should know how much I love to write. Clearly the Royals are still stuck somewhere in the fourteenth or the fifteenth century. They are having a ball for Alpha King, so that he can finally choose a bride and have a royal hybrid baby. I mean the dude is around 400 or something. This will be the first time I'll be going to the Castle. Not to compete to be the king's bride or anything but because the former king has asked my dad to come and discuss something about the recent attacks on the Borders and other smaller packs. Dad was a strategist for the king back in his days. He was the king's right hand man but he gave up everything when he left the Castle with me 17 years ago and hasn't been back since but these rogue attacks and the murder of a witch leader has everyone on edge and they want my father to help them. Of course he couldn't say no to king and he couldn't leave me alone here either, not because I am not capable of being alone but because I have separation anxiety, I will be tagging along with him. He was quite angry when former King Edward asked him to come to the Palace around the time of the ball, he doesn't want me anywhere near it or the Alpha King to be exact. I don't blame him, I don't want to do anything with him too. Rumors are that he is quite short tempered and kills for fun. I mean I have killed to but they were rogues and definitely not for fun. Rumors may or may not be true, I don't care, but staying away from him is the best thing one can do. Everything about him screams danger and death. He is truly what they say, a beast, a monster. ..... "Why the hell are you even going? The ball isn't in like three weeks." Marissa asked for the hundredth time now. "I am not even going for the ball. King Edward wants dad to help Alpha King Aaron with something. So we are leaving tonight. Simple." And as the good friend I am, I explained it again for the hundredth time to her. Muttering something under her breath, Marissa starts folding my clothes and stuffing them in the suitcase. She is truly a lifesaver because for the life of me, I can't pack anything. Marissa is basically my sister. She wanted to be my friend when the other ran for the hills. She is like a ray of sunshine, who shines even in the darkest of times. She isn't scared of my dad and I think it has to do something with her being a werewolf. Yup, She and Brian, both are werewolves. I discovered about them when we were 8 and Brian turned 11 and into a cute baby warewolf with ginger fur in our backyard. Dad was furious and their parents came rushing here to help Brian with his first transformation. It was kinda gross. Since that night our bond got stronger and the three of us became inseparable as now they had someone who knew that they were werewolf and I could tell someone that my dad is a 900 years old vampire. Turns out their father Mr.Jake was a lone wolf who worked as a spy for the Royals but when he met Angela, their mother he knew he had to settle down with her and have his own family and that's what he did. Now he is living his best life here with the love of his life and his amazing children. Jake and Angela are truly in love and I think it's lovely because it's so rare nowadays. I don't believe in love because with it comes weaknesses we never asked for. ..... Marissa and I finally packed all my things and we them brought them downstairs to Brian's car. Dad and he were talking about something and went quiet as soon as they heard us. I couldn't hear them as I am completely human and I'll have to die first in order to become a vampire and I really don't want to die right now. Marissa tries to hear with her supernatural ears but to no avail. They changed the subject to the weather, threw our luggage in the back of the car, literally stuffed us and drove to the airport. ..... During the whole ride to the airport dad was awfully quite like he is mentally preparing himself to face the Castle and his past. Some say that mom wasn't just taken from the Palace but murdered right there in her bed. I was always scared to ask dad about that night and of the answers to my questions. A lost mother is better than a dead mother. Right? "OK, so stay away from the Alpha King and try to call us daily" Brian said pulling me out of my thoughts. "of course, I will call you both daily and I'll be waiting for you too there" " We'll definitely not miss the ball of the century, girl. Oh! and try the red dress I've packed for you." Marissa said squealing. I gave her an eye roll which she returned with her laugh and then we said each other goodbye and went further into the airport. ..... Being so old and rich definitely have it's perk. We made our way to our private jet and it soon took off to Sweden. The Royal Palace is well hidden deep in the forest. Somewhere no human can wander and then it is covered with spells and stuff to keep it hidden from the human world. Packs all over the world are covered with the same magic to stay away from the human eye. Although there are rules for the supernatural creature about harming and killing humans, no one can ever be sure about it, so it's better to stay away from them and stick together as a pack. As for the vampire and the witch covens, they are also hidden from the human eye. Supernatural world isn't perfect. It has many flaws and then there's this whole deal with the rogues. Vampires, werewolves and witches who lose their ways and start harming others are considered rogues. They are either killer or they run away. Right now, I guess that's the problem for which King Edward and the Alpha King wanted my father at the Palace. I am really hoping everything turns out well and we'll be out of that place in no time. Nothing to be worried about. Right? Yes. Definitely.
