Chapter IV ~ Cold as ice

She opened her eyes as she heard the door close. She blinked a couple of times before sitting up covering her naked body with the blanket. Looking around in the room she noticed Zack was gone. Her facial expression saddened a bit, missing his presence. But a smile appeared on her lips remembering what had happened that night. She felt warm inside. She had never thought that Zack could be so sweet and gentle. He was really respectful which made him a hundred times sexier. She blushed thinking about how amazing it felt. He was skilled. He knew exactly how to work a woman's body right. He was the first man to ever make her feel that good. She shivered remembering that. She was pulled out of her daydreaming when her phone rang. She picked it up. It was her father. “Hello,” she said tiredly. “Good morning sweetheart. Could you please come to my room? The guys want to update us,” he said calmly. She smiled knowing she was gonna see Zack there. “Sure. I’ll be there soon dad,” she answered sweetly. “See you soon,” he said happily and cut the call. She stood up and got ready. Put on some tight light denim jeans, a white button up blouse and a black leather jacket. To top it all off she put some rings on and some flat boots. Walking around the hotel room getting ready she noticed how sore she felt in her lower stomach. She giggled to herself. She didn’t mind it. Just a little reminder of the great night. She walked into her father’s presidential suite and noticed everyone was there except for Ethan and Zack. They greeted her and she walked over and hugged her dad. She sat down on the couch next to Skyler. Skyler glanced at her and as she noticed and looked at him, he turned his head away. She didn’t think much of it and just shuck it off even though it was weird. Soon after, Ethan and Zack walked in. “Well, everyone is here. So let’s get started. Sugar?” Ethan said, looking at Noah as he walked over to stand next to Isaac. Genevieve looked at Zack as he walked to the wall furthest away from her and leaned on it. He looked annoyed and didn’t spare her even a single glance. She pouted, feeling hurt that he didn’t notice her at all. Was he ignoring her? Noah started to explain the situation. “After a ton of coding and no sleep, I found almost nothing. Whoever is behind the assassination attempt is good and knows how to clean up their mess. I did find a connection between whoever broke into your system to find your schedule and who is managing The Anti Kang Campaign site. The bookmarks in the coding are the same. For those of you who don't know what a bookmark is. A bookmark in coding is a series of numbers coders put in to mark their whereabouts. The numbers are. 04121945, 12052008 and 08142021. My guess is that they are dates. So whoever coded them must be attached to the 3 specific dates. The last date was the day of the assassination attempt. Mr. Wilson do you recognise any of the other dates?” Mr. Wilson tried to think. “I think Mr. Jackson's assistant's son was born 12/05 2008. But she is a nice lady and she couldn’t have done it,” Mr. Wilson said, confused. Mr. Jackson was Mr. Wilson's rival and another candidate to run for president. “Well it’s a start,” Ethan said and walked to Zack. Ethan placed a hand on his shoulder but Zack brushed it off annoyed. Ethan sighed at Zack's rude behaviour. “We have something else we have to look into. Let’s go, Zack,” Ethan said, and Zack just walked past towards the door. “Wait? Zack has to take Genevieve to school,” Mr. Wilson said as he stood up from his chair. Zack stopped in his tracks. He was standing with his back facing everyone. He slowly turned his head and looked at Genevieve over his shoulder for the first time since he had entered the room. He looked deep into her eyes and made her feel so small. “I’m not her babysitter,” he snapped and walked out of the room. Genevieve was so shocked and didn’t know what to do. She felt hurt and could feel a lump in her throat. What was going on? She thought to herself. “Mr. Wilson, I'm sorry about that. He is like that sometimes. Tayden will take Genevieve to school. He is perfectly capable of keeping her safe, Sir,” Ethan said and bowed apologising for Zack's rude behaviour. “If you say so,” Mr. Wilson said, and looked at Genevieve, noticing her sad expression. “Maybe it’s better. I don’t want Genevieve to deal with his temper. She has enough to deal with already,” Mr. Wilson simply said, and they all nodded in agreement. Tayden took Genevieve to school and it was okay. She didn’t think she would like Tayden very much. He seemed arrogant. But he was actually quite nice. They listened to music on their way to school and sang along together. She wasn’t feeling much like talking so it was nice that she didn’t have to. Throughout the day she couldn’t stop thinking about Zack. He was so rude this morning. Was he mad at her? Or maybe he was just done with her? He had gotten what he wanted. She had a hard time staying mad at him. After last night and the things he said and did. He wouldn’t just have used her. Or maybe he would. She was so confused. She wondered what he and Ethan were doing. They were so secretive about it. She was a bit worried. Ethan wouldn’t need Zack unless it was for something dangerous. She knew what he was skilled at. She just hoped they were okay. All of the girls at school had reacted the same way towards Tayden as they had done with Zack. Tayden was just handling it a bit differently compared to Zack. Zack ignored everyone. Tayden seemed to like the attention. He winked at the girls and played along when they flirted. He seemed like he was having a good time. As he and Genevieve sat in the car after the day was over, he looked at her. “I am exhausted,” he joked. She couldn’t help but giggle at his so-called problem. “Oh yer... It must be hard having so many admirers,” she joked back and he laughed. That was the first time she had smiled today. Tayden was so easy to be around compared to Zack. She didn’t see Zack much for a couple of days. He would ignore her if she tried to talk to him. His excuse was that he was busy. He refused to even look at her. The only thing he had said to her for days was. “I’m busy,” as she had tried to talk to him. She built a bit of anger inside as each day passed. Tayden had been taking her to school for the past few days. They were becoming friends. She learned a lot about him. He liked art, music, annoying Skyler and well... women. He never took anything too seriously. She really liked that about him. But the funny thing was that he would shut down and avoid any topic that had to do with Zack. She didn’t understand why. Was Tayden afraid of Zack or what? It made no sense. Reading his face and body language she didn’t get the feeling that he was afraid of him. Seeing the two of them being around each other and talking also proved that Tayden wasn’t afraid of him. No, Tayden seemed more sad. She walked out of her room ready for school on her way down to the parking garage to meet up with Tayden. She walked in the elevator and as the doors were about to close a man slipped in at the last second. She looked up, locking eyes with Zack. As soon as she noticed it was him she looked away. She was so angry with him. How can the man she had such amazing and respectful s*x with, be the same as this guy in front of her? What an asshole she thought to herself. He leaned on the wall opposite of where she stood. He glanced at her as he couldn’t help but eying her from top to toe. He tilted his head, seeing she was wearing a nice little black dress underneath her light brown suede jacket. Her legs looked good and her ass looked even better. Without noticing it he licked his lower lip, biting on it afterwards. He fell out of his trance as he heard her voice. “You don’t get to look at me like that,” she said confidently. His eyes fell on hers. “What?,” he simply asked, pretending not to have heard what she said. She had gotten enough of him and walked up to him, poking his chest with her index finger as she spoke. “You know actually what I am talking about. You should be ashamed. You used me, you asshole...,” he sighed and cut her off. “I never heard you say no. In fact, you said ‘I’m ready.’ Remember you wanted it too....,” he simply said brushing her finger away from his chest. She turned on her heel, letting her back face him and crossed her arms. “If I had known what a bad tempered rude asshole you were, I would have stayed away,” she said as a comeback. How did you win a fight against someone who doesn’t seem to care? He sighed tiredly. “Chill... It was just s*x, Genevieve. It doesn’t mean anything...,” He said carelessly. That was the line and he crossed it. She turned around and stared directly into his eyes. “You seem to always act like nothing ever means anything to you. You always seem like you never care... But newsflash. I think you are scared. You are just a scared little boy inside. Scared of being hurt and now I’m the one paying the price because we had a connection. Mr. ‘Gen, what are you doing to me?’ or do you kiss all of your s*x partners the way you kissed me....,” she said with a fire burning within. He was taken aback and didn’t know how to react. He couldn’t process her words. All he could do was look at her with a surprised expression. The elevator doors opened to the garage. She sighed and looked at the floor, calming herself down. She hated how he made her so angry. She didn’t like herself like that. “Just forget about it and I’ll do the same,” She simply said and walked out, not wanting to spend any more of her energy on him. He stared wide eyed at the floor not able to move. Why was he feeling a bit hurt by her words? How was he going to be able to forget that night with her? He already tried forgetting about it. But the memories of her beautiful figure in the damped lighting as she was under him, was impossible to forget. He lifted his hand up and looked at his own fingertips. He could still feel her soft skin on them. He closed his eyes, leaning his head back as he remembered her small moans and how she called out his name. The sound of her heart beating as he had fallen asleep on her chest listening to it. At that time it all seemed so simple. As he had hugged her tightly, he knew exactly what he wanted. He remembered just wanting to stay there with her like that. Everything had been so peaceful. He hadn’t felt like that before. She was right about one thing, he kissed her differently and he never stayed the night after. But he did that with her. She just made him feel this weird feeling inside. Peaceful yet exciting. That night was something different. But things quickly changed as he woke up that next morning. He had woken up with her in his arms. Her back pressed against his chest. Both still naked. He remembered thinking she was the perfect little-spoon. Sadly enough he knew he couldn’t have stayed the night. It would be bad if they were caught together like this. He should never have let himself fall asleep there in the first place. He had gently removed himself from her and put on his clothes. As he had been close to leaving, something had stopped him. He remembered wanting to steal just one last glance at her. As he had looked at her he had questioned if maybe, just maybe, he could have stayed just a little longer. But he knew he couldn’t. As he had walked out of her room Skyler had been standing waiting right outside her room. From that moment on, things had been hectic. Skyler had caught him with her and it didn’t take long for Ethan to seek Zack out to talk. Soon the rest of the guys knew too. That morning had been filled with Ethan lecturing him. Ethan had told him how disappointed he was and asked if Zack had even thought about the consequences. Ethan had singled Zack out as the bad guy so easily. Like it had all been Zack’s fault. That made Zack furious. Zack had snapped and broken a glass vase on the floor to prove Ethan's own point right, that Zack was the bad guy. “Are you happy now... I am the monster everyone thinks I am!” Zack yelled back at Ethan. Ethan knew that he wouldn’t be able to talk to Zack when he was like this. So for that reason and the fact that he had s*x with Genevieve, he had removed Zack as Genevieve’s bodyguard. Besides, he needed Zack's skills elsewhere. Zack had only ended up as Genevieve’s bodyguard because Mr. Wilson had requested it. After Zack had crossed the line with Genevieve, it had given Ethan the opportunity to change the positions of his team. Besides, it was the best for everyone Ethan thought.
