Caught In A Trap

CHAPTER 3

After a long period of argument, Senior Alberto finally made us calm. 

Harry and I were sitting next to each other while he’s in front of us. He told us to settle down whatever happened between us. So he let us argue and fix it after that. 

“So, how was the school, Akeelah?” Senior Alberto asked as he was pouring his tea on his teacup. 

I took my bag from the center table in front of us. 

“Well..”I sighed heavily and rolled my eyes before getting off my scrunchie and tied my hair. 

“I basically didn’t have time to roam around. How am I supposed to? When someone suddenly chased me like he was about to kill me anytime.” I rolled my eyes again and took a quick glance at Harry. 

The corner of his eyes crinkled and was looking at me with a blank expression. 

“A girl in a ponytail who can’t move on with the past.” 

“Tsk, tsk! Tsk!” he shook his head three times trying to mock me. 

I smirked at him and raised a brow before turning my gaze back to my Senior. 

“Well, I guess it is quite fun. When should I start my class?” I yawned and covered my mouth with my right hand. 

It was a tiring day today. I just want to rest and stay in my soft bed and do nothing. 

“As soon as possible, Akeelah. You’ll be having your first task.” 

My eyes glimmered in excitement as it sounded so nice in my ears. I’ve been trying to bother my Senior and annoy him for too long. I don’t know, I was just so excited about this matter. My first ever project s***h task here in this agency! 

My training and hard work will finally be worth it! I’ve been waiting for this day. 

I stood up in excitement.

“Really!” I jumped in happiness. It’s like winning the lottery because of this news. 

“What is my task? Tell me! Tell me! Please! I’m so excited! Whom should I investigate? Do I need to dress up like a guy? Or do I need to pretend to be nice? Tell me!” 

He chuckled upon hearing that. I also heard Harry smirking at me but I ignored him. I was way too happy to entertain him. He is just going to annoy me. And if that happens, I’ll just waste my time and energy. 

“Relax!” he started and sip his tea in the teacup he was holding. 

I stood up straight while waiting for his next words. 

“You’re not going to investigate, okay? You are going to be our spy. Remember when your Company's at risk because of some malicious things? Your Uncle went here yesterday and said that he wants you to be the spy for the Romero group of companies.”

“Your Uncle told me that he’s one the suspects and he is also your father’s friend and a shareholder before. So in order for us to gather information, you have spied on their family.”

I nodded as I was carefully listening to him while explaining the things that I am going to do. I want to pay attention to this one since I want to be an Ace in terms of this industry. 

He stood up and took a folder from his table and handed me a copy. 

“That’s Leander Joseph Romerro. He will be the person whom you’re going to spy on so it will be easier for you to enter their family.” 

I quickly scan the first page. Every detail was found there and I saw a familiar picture of the person he was referring to. 

“No way!” I almost jumped in surprise when the picture I saw suddenly registered in my mind.

Shit! He looks like the guy in the old apartment. The nerdy cute little guy!

I smirked and a smile drew on my face. 

I saw Harry take a glance at me, and snatched the folder I was holding. 

He smirked and shook his head. 

“The nerd guy who can’t even save himself.” He returned the folder to me and acted like it was an easy task for me.

He may not tell it directly to me but I know he’s belittling me. 

“Yes, the guy whom you threatened.” 

I rolled my eyes and took my attention back to the folder.  He was the same pre-law as mine. 

“Senior Alberto! Can you help me match his subjects and mine? I think I’ll be able to get him easily.” 

I smirked at the thought that he’s such a soft guy that is easy to manipulate. 

“Alright! Since you don’t have any questions and I think you really want the task? Coordinate with my secretary and she’ll do everything that is needed so you can transfer as soon as possible.”

I nodded and smiled widely.

“Remember not to punch or create any trouble, Akeelah. You already have been kicked from your previous one. You better be nicer or I will pull you out with your task.”

I heard Harry chuckled. I gave him a sharp and warning look because I already know that he’s going to mock me again. 

“Fine! I’m not going to do that! Now that I have my first task!” 

I leaned my back to relax my arms. 

“We’ll see,” Harry whispered but it was enough for me to hear it. 

I furrowed my brows and furiously looked at him. 

“Transfer me to that school where this naive girl is transferring. I’d like to spy on that guy, too.” 

“You...What!?” I almost yelled on his face when he said that. 

Was he trying to get back on me? Was he trying to get his father’s attention? Huh! This is unbelievable! 

“Senior Alberto!” I stood up in annoyance. 

He is really pissing me off!

Senior Alberto groaned and put down his tea at the table in front of us. He closed his eyes and massaged his temple. I can clearly see that he’s pissed off right now because of us. 

Well, I was trying to calm down but this Harry is really something! He was really dedicated to getting back to me! I hate it!

“You two? Can you please give me some time? I just came back from Europe yesterday and I hadn’t gotten any sleep and proper rest but you two were giving me a headache!” 

I glared at Harry before getting my things at the table. 

“I’m going back to my apartment.” 

I stood up and gave Harry my final look. 

“I’m out, too.” he suddenly agreed. 

I took a glance at my Senior and stared at Harry who’s currently up to something.

“I’ve changed my mind, I’m out. I have to find that nerdy cute guy before Harry does.” 

I rolled my eyes on him before finally turning my back. 

I was stamping my feet. I was really pissed off! He’s really something! I was on my way in my car at the parking lot when I suddenly tripped myself and led me to fall not into the ground but into someone.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. 

I was about to complain when I saw a familiar face. He’s about an inch away from me. I didn’t want to look away and I wanted to stop the time for a while because I am way too obsessed with his scent. 

I was sweating under the heat of the sun, but I was sweating even more when the guy I was about to find was already in front of me. 

I was the one who tripped but I caught him in my trap.
