CHAPTER 3

CHAPTER THREE “This is all your fault,” Chace muttered, making my gaze shoot at him.   “My fault? I was not the one screwing my teacher then using an innocent girl for cover up,” I bit back, feeling my patience thinning inconsiderably fast.   “Well, it was my place to tell her the truth, not yours, “he snapped.   “And just how much of a good job have you been doing about that, huh? All you’ve done is make her have sleepless nights wondering if she did something wrong to make you act weird lately. She had feelings for you asshole and instead of appreciating that or actually letting her down quietly, you used her,” I snapped, letting my temper blow up.   “Okay. Just quit it you two. Bickering like siblings won’t help us know where she went. Now, as we wait for Leon, how about you tell me where exactly was the last time you saw her before she disappeared?” Andrew shouted, gaining both our attention.   “The girls bathroom. She ran out and by the time we followed her she was-wait, you called Leon? Please tell me you did not tell him about what really happened,”   “Of course, I told him. I could never miss a chance for a juicy gossip. It’s not every day you find out a student is actually screwing a teacher. Why?” Andrew questioned.     “If I were you Chase, I’d run or it might just be too late for that,” I added when a fuming Leon rushed into the music room, nothing but uncontrollable rage painted all over his features.   Before anyone could react, he had punched Chase on the jaw, sending him flying to the ground and then he positioned himself on top of him with legs apart while he rained one punch after another on Chase’s face.   “Don’t,” I stopped Andrew when he tried to stop Leon.   “But we-“     “Trust me, this asshole deserves it,” It did make me feel better watching him on the ground like that. After what he did to Peggy and then instead of facing up to his mistakes, he tried to make me and Lucian part ways, I was nowhere close to feeling sorry for him.   “Why the f**k would you do that to her? She f*****g cared too much about you and all you did was use her. And our French teacher, seriously? I can forgive so many things Chase but never come after my friends and expect me to just sit down and act like nothing happened,” Leon snapped, finally landing one last hard blow on Chase before standing up.   Gripping his hair, he turned his back on us with his eyes closed as he tried to calm his breathing. As I looked at my best friend, I realized that even though I thought he was moving on, he was still very much in love with Peggy. Silently, I walked over to him and pulled him into a hug. For a full ten seconds, he remained motionless against me.   “Why do I want to kill him so bad right now?” He whispered in the same rage-filled tone.   “You are not the only one but we need to find Peggy right now. Do you think you can stay calm for a few minutes until we find her?” I questioned when we pulled away.   “I know. It’s just that… he hurt her Faith. How am I supposed to stay anywhere close to him now?”   “Well, as soon as we find her, he is going to have to stay away from any of us,” I said the latter part while shooting a glare at Chase.  Damn! Leon must be quite the puncher considering Chase was now looking like a piece of fresh meat in the butchery with blood sipping from the corners of his lips, a gush on his head and some wounds on the side of his face. He was going to need more than just a couple of band aids for that.   “You are all a bunch of lunatics,’ he managed to talk before wincing in pain. Ugh! Damn me and always felling sorry.   “You wait for me here,” I ordered and walked out of the music room. There had to be a first aid kit somewhere in the gym.   Managing to squeeze myself past the students and narrowly missing being hit by the ball a couple times, I reached the edge of the gymnasium. From where I was standing, I could see the First Aid Kit lying on a bench just about ten steps away from here I was standing.   “Miss. Bishop,” I froze in place when I heard Mrs. Hudson’s voice right behind me.   When I turned around with a sheepish smile, the gym teacher was glaring right at me with hands folded across her chest. Swallowing down, I gathered whatever was left of my courage. The students had stopped playing and were now watching me with interest and being the center attention was not something I was accustomed to just yet.   “Mrs. Hudson,”   “So where did that boyfriend of yours drag you to? Don’t you know this is a class that accounts to your end of term total grade? Detention today after school,” she said.   “What?” I’d never gotten detention in my entire school life. I was so going to get back at Chase for this.   “Do you want me to make it a three-day detention?” she raised an eyebrow.   “No, thank you. I think I’m good,” I said.   “Now get back to you partner. I believe that was Mr. Murray,”   “I will,” In slow steps, I found myself regrettably walking to where Ian was standing with Greg and Blake, chit chatting while throwing the ball at each other a few times.   “Were you trying to ditch class?” Ian teased. I wish he knew just how far I was from the teasing mood and adding to that, he was one of the few people I fancied the least right now.   “Maybe. Gotta get away from the toxic people,” I shrugged, picking up a dodge ball.   “Jeez! Who pissed in your cereal this morning?” Blake laughed and I joined him, even though I reality I didn’t find anything funny in his statement.   “So Greg, I heard you were holding a Halloween’s party,” I said as I threw the ball at Ian which he expertly dodged.   “Yeah. You want to come?”   “I could use some distraction and I’d need you to include my friends on the list,” I said.   “Wait, I could give you a couple’s invite for you and your boyfriend, then singles invites to your friends,” he suddenly said.   “Sure,” I half smiled as I turned around, trying to see if I’d find a way to get the First Aid kit.
