Chapter 2

Lena "Wait... Are you kidding me? You're staying at your uncle's place for a month? A full month?" Anita's said her eyes bulged out as if what I said was the most ridiculous thing on earth. It seemed like that to me at first but I realized it's not a big deal. Not like I'm staying at a stranger's place. I took a sip of my orange juice before relaxing back in my seat. We were done with the first period and decided to find something to eat before the next class. Which was practically the most boring one amongst all. I don't expect anything simple from studying accounting. The part I hated most is the mathematical concept and calculations. But overall, I chose the course because that's what I want. I want to become an independent consultant. "Babe, answer me. Curiosity is killing me." Anita broke my silence. I chuckled at the way her brows were creased together as if she was afraid of my response. "Okay, you heard me quite well. Yes, I'm staying at my uncle's place for a month before my father returns from his medical checkup." I explained. "But why him of all people?" She asked again. "He's my uncle of course." "I know he is but how would you cope? Do you still have a crush on him?" Anita is the only person that knows about my crush and my wild fantasy about my uncle. The only person I could open up to regarding the thoughts and how I fantasize over his pictures whenever I saw them on the internet. Not only that, my uncle had occasionally played his role as a member of my family. He had been there when my mother fell ill. "I do." I confessed and Anita gave me a puzzled look. "And you still have wild imagination of him." She asked again. "Yes, I do. And I don't think that's going to change. But don't worry, I won't allow what I want to make my stay awkward there. I might have a crush on him but I also have dreams and ambition." Anita rolled her eyes and gulped down her remaining drink. "Yeah... Yeah, I know. Miss top student of the whole accounting department. Keep it up. We have two more semesters to go and I can proudly call you a graduate." Anita teased. I rolled my eyes. "Thank Goodness you know. Let's head to class." I said rising up from my seat. Anita followed suit. "Why are you in a rush? Is it the excitement of going back home to see your hot and sexy uncle." I stopped walking and glared at her. "Keep your voice down. What if someone hears you." I don't think I'm ready to be the center of attention if my classmates finds out the successful George Carlson is my uncle. "Anything you say, my queen." She giggled and I passed her another glare. This time around, I made sure I smack her on her shoulder. We headed for the next class. ** Okay, I know I said I wasn't ready to be the center of attention if my classmates finds out George Carlson is my uncle. Turns out, my fears backfired on me. Standing outside my school gate and few miles away was my uncle standing leaning on his car while his head was casted down as he presses on his phone. The rate at which my heart was beating grew more. Before I could escape from Anita, she spoke up. "Lena, isn't that uncle? Or am I seeing things?" She asked squinting her eyes. I heaved out a sharp breath. "He is. I guess he's here to pick me up. I'm off." I said and walked away without waiting for Anita's response. I was very much sure she'd tease me to her heart content next time. My eyes were fixed on him as I made my way towards him. I didn't want to check around my surrounding to see who was looking and not looking. It will be better that way. "Len, you're here." He finally looked up from his phone and gave me that smile of his. My heart literally skipped. "Yes uncle. You didn't tell me you'd be coming to pick me up." I said. "Well.... I did call you but you were not picking up. I Was done from an outdoor meeting and decided to stop by since the place was closed to your school and I know you'd be done with classes. Shall we?" He said. I won't say his presence didn't take me by surprise. But then again, that's sweet of him. As we settled inside the car, I checked my phone and saw he actually did call. Damn Lena! "Thank you, uncle George." I said with a tight-lipped smile as he started the car. My breathing hitched when all of a sudden, he began leaning over. My hand tightened around my phone. What was he going to do? Kiss me? Inside his car with people watching us all around? "Fasten your seatbelt." His words pierced through my eardrums. His eyes lingered on mine for a while before he finally pulled away. "So have you eaten?" "Yes-"And then my stomach chooses to disgrace me. He gave my stomach a brief glance before his lips curved up. "Guess the stomach needs to get filled up." I didn't know when a grin escaped me. Damn my stomach. "I will have the maid prepare something for us. What would you like to eat?" "Hot." My mouth blurted out without thinking. He gave me a puzzled look but the smile was still plastered on his face. "I mean hot pot. I'm craving hot pot. The one from a Chinese restaurant." I corrected. I don't know why my mouth blurted out the word 'hot'. "Can this stomach of yours handle anything hot?" He said his hand rubbing my stomach lightly. I guess my uncle doesn't know how hard it was for me to sit with him in the car without me not any wild thought of him in my head. "Yes uncle. Anything hot, I'm in." "Anything hot?" He repeated something unreadable flashing in his eyes. He turned and gave me a look. "Then allow uncle to give it to you hot." My heart rate quickened from zero degree to hundred instantly.
