MOLLY’S POV “I want a white wedding by the Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. I want a fancy mermaid dress that will be designed to flatter and accentuate my natural curves. I want my bridesmaids to wear long silk dresses that are peach in colour. Lastly, I only want 1820 Juglar Cuvee champagne to be served for the guest,” I vividly pictured my wedding as I told my best friend Lenny who was seated next to me giving me all the attention that I needed. “How about you get a wealthy man first,” She joked and laughed a little after saying this. “Come on, I am so serious about this. This is what my perfect fairytale wedding looks like. I will not rest till I fulfill my dream wedding,” I insisted. “You should wait for the next thirty years so that the men our age can give you what you desire, that wedding will cost millions if I am not wrong,” Lenny added as she flipped the pages of her book. “But who said I am willing to date the men who are almost my age?” I asked Lenny and she arched her eyebrows up in confusion. Well, she did not know of my preference when it come to men. “Molly, what do you mean?” She implored giving me a very weird look. “Listen Lenny. I have always been attracted to older guys. I have never ever felt something towards this youngsters who are literally everywhere in this campus. In fact, I despise them. I feel like they are too immature for me. I want a very mature man who will treat me like a queen that I am, I want a man who will be able to spoil me with everything that I desire,” I told her. “I can’t believe that you are actually saying this,” Lenny shook her head in confusion. “Lenny, I know what I want in a man. Trust me, I will get the man of my dreams and I will go ahead to wed him,” I told her confidently. “Honestly, I don’t think that dating older guys is a good idea. I mean, where is the fun in that?” Lenny asked me. “Have you ever tried dating an older guy?” I asked in a low voice to prevent my other classmates from eavesdropping our conversation. The class was almost full and we were just waiting for our lecturer to come in. “No, of course not!” Lenny countered. “Then you will never know. Let me try. I will give you the feedback,” I winked at her just before Mrs. Lilian come in. “Welcome to my lecture, today we are going to talk about Flow Cytometry,” She said and I rolled my eyes as I took out my black book and pen. I have only been at this University for two months and that is enough to confidently saw that this University bores me to death. I need to do something naughty and fun. I can’t spend all of my free time purely doing Netflix and Chill. I need more. I need more fire and adventure into my life. That is what I was looking for when I decided to join campus. ** “Are you going for lunch right now?” Lenny asked me after class. “No, I don’t think so. Besides, I am not hungry. I will just be in my room,” I told her. “Okay, see you later then,” She forced a smile as she walked away. Lenny is my only friend around this place. I didn’t have the time or the energy to interact with other students. I am an introvert and truly, I did enjoy my own company. It actually took Lenny a lot of patience to finally get to be friends with me. Anyway, she is just a superficial friend. She does not know of my deep secrets. We met in campus and that is it. She knows nothing about where I come from or the type of person that I was back then. She only knows of what I want her to know. I hang my leather bag right behind the door just before I threw myself on the bed exhaustively. f**k, this place sucked, I needed to be doing something. It is not like I have run out of options. I have a lot of things that I needed to do. The problem is that I didn’t have someone to finance all those activities. Ever since my dad…my dad…Let me not get to that part because it would bring up memories that I have strived so hard to forget. I stared at the ceiling room blindly till a thought struck my mind. Before I could forget about it, I quickly got out of bed and unlocked my wardrobe. I pulled out a few cloths and finally I saw the black box that I had protected and hidden from the world at all cost. I quickly opened the box and took out the black phone. I was so hesitant to call the number saved on that phone but eventually I decided to do it. “Hello,” I said with a shaky voice. I could not help it. I was so scared of those guys. “Do you have the money?” The man who received the call asked in a hoarse voice. “Um- I am still working on it,” I said in a low voice. “You are running out of time!” The man spat before hanging up. In fear, I allowed the phone to drop from my ears. My breathing had quickened and my heart was beating at twice its normal speed. They were right. I was running out of time and I needed to do something before it was too late. The soft knock on the door brought me back to my senses. I quickly picked the phone from the floor, switched it off and stuffed it in the black box. I threw my cloths in to cover the box just before Lenny walked in. “What took you so long to get the door?” She asked looking around noseyly. “Nothing, why are you here?” I was somehow pissed at her for barging in like that. What if she saw the black box that had my staff? “You have been wanting to do something exciting, right?” She asked. “Of course,” I said giving her all my attention. “Well, I am inviting you to my parents wedding renewal this Sunday afternoon. Are you coming with me?” She asked and patiently waited for an answer from me. “Of course, what are we wearing?” I asked in an excited tone. I needed a distraction.
