The Unexpected Alpha

Chapter 2

“Let’s go get breakfast and then maybe you can explain why you are home so soon Jonah.” The Alpha walked out the door and we all went to follow. Jacob went to reach for my hand but I pulled away. “I’m sorry but I think we should slow down a lot. I’ve lost a lot and the last thing I want is to lose my mate because he has to return home.” He stopped in front of me and leaned towards my ear. “I have been waiting eight long agonizing years for you. I’m not leaving. I’ll call my Alpha in a bit.” The way he spoke in my ear made my instantly aroused. “You may want to calm down some there Angel. I won’t be afraid to take you right here in the hall.”  He smirked as he straightened himself. We all walked down to breakfast and somewhere along the way, Jacob took my hand and would not get go of it.

            On the way to the dining room I saw several other females and they were staring at my mate. I didn’t want to be possessive but the damn bond was making it happen. We went to sit in our normal seats and as I went to sit, Jacob let go of my hand and pulled my chair out for me. The Luna was watching the entire time. She knew I was uncomfortable in the whole thing and well since I had arrived, the Luna had been a mother figure to me since my previous Alpha had taken my mother away from me three years ago. He accused her of a few horrendous crimes that she never create and had her executed in front of me. He then had me whipped for covering her crimes. Unfortunately, when a punishment was held it was done in front of most of the pack.

            The Luna asked me to help her put a plate together for the Alpha and Jonah. I agreed and we walked into the kitchen. “I know this is new to you sweetheart, but I doubt he will be leaving at all now that he has found you.” She smiled at me.

“You know Jacob?” She smiled at me as she started putting plates together. “Of course I do. Technically, you do as well. But seeing that you have some suppressed memories it makes sense that you don’t remember him. Let’s discuss this later. I want you to get to know Jacob. He is a sweetheart. Your duties for the day have been complete. Show him the real you. Don’t be uncomfortable with him. He will only take care of you. Take a walk around the property and show Jacob what all you plan on doing. He is the main contractor for the project so this will give you something else to talk about.” “Yes Luna.” We finished putting together Jonah’s, the Alphas and her own plate and headed for the table.

“Are you going to be eating, Angel?” I blushed as his hand brushed against my arm. “I am. Do you want to come and eat with me?” He stopped in his tracks. He replied, “I thought I already was.”

“She doesn’t eat in the dining room with us unless it is an event or a big dinner. She prefers her alone time.” Jonah explained. I winked at Jonah and grabbed my plate. “Ms. Garcia, would you like me to send lunch up to your office later today?” I smiled when Mrs. Robles walked around the corner. “Yes, please. But it will be for two.” “Okay my dear. I’ll have Maria set them on your table once lunch is ready. By the way, did you talk to the Alpha about upgrading the kitchen?” “It’s approved. But it will take a week to remodel the kitchen, so I want to wait until I at least get the second clubhouse up and running. Then we can still be able to fix meals for the pack without the need of having to order out. I’m hopeful that we can get the second clubhouse built in the next two months. Let me talk to this one here and I’ll give you a better time frame.” We grabbed our plates and as I went to reach for a bottle of water, Jacob beat me to it. “We have some talking to do.” I lead the way out of the kitchen and to the elevator.

“My office is on the 7th floor.” Jacob pushed the button and stood in the middle of the elevator. I was standing in the corner. I don’t like the feeling of being in an elevator. I had a feeling that Jacob sensed that because he came and stood right next to me. Instantly, I was relaxed. “Thank you.” He just nodded his head. Once we got to the seventh floor, I stepped out of the elevator and went to my door. Carefully, I balanced my plate on one hand and opened my door. “This is a nice office. What exactly is it you do here at the Lotus Pack?”

“I’m the temporary pack architect. I plan the remodels and additional houses for members of the pack. I also coordinate and plan all parties for the pack. The Luna likes my work. But she also knows how bad I had it at the Estrella Pack that giving me my own space was something that helped me cope.” I sat my food down on the table and moved the files on the other end to the shelf I was reorganizing. Once Jacob sat his food and the waters down he turned to face me. “I know you don’t know me very well but I can’t help but want to kiss you right now.” I leaned closer and Abigail was going insane over his smell.

            Do not reject him. I know we have been through a lot but please do not reject him.

            I didn’t plan on it Abi. I just want to play it safe.

            No! You will kiss him. Give in to him and let him help you build your pack back up. Something is telling me that he was given to us for a reason.

            Abigail was demanding. But she knew what she wanted. “Were you just communicating with your wolf?” He smiled at me and I nodded. “Kiss me if you want to kiss me.” All I could say was that. He leaned in closer bringing his lips closer to mine. He gave me a small peck and then he gave in. he crashed his lips into mine. He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him. A moan escaped my mouth and he stopped. “We cannot continue right now. On top of that little moan of yours, your stomach growled. Let’s eat and talk.” I sat down next to him and put my sandwich together. I look over and he is laughing at me.

“What is so funny?” I looked at him concerned. “You are still the same with your bagel, egg, and cheese sandwich.  Do you still add hot sauce?” He asked.

“So you do know me! Not so much anymore with the hot sauce. Okay let’s play a game.” He shook his head as he was eating some of his toast. “Okay. What game?”

“I ask you a series of questions about me and you answer them. Then if there is anything I want to know about you then I ask you questions. We can take turns as well.”

“Anything you want Angel. Go ahead and start.”

“What is my favorite color?” “Easy, Teal.”

“What is my favorite past time?” “Drawing.”

“How old was I when I originally met you?” “Four years old. I was six. I suspected then that we were mates but we were also very young and I didn’t want to freak you out. I hadn’t realized that you were even still alive until Jonah said that his dad brought you with him from the Estrella Pack. He also told me a few things about what your biological dad had done to you. And I want you to know that, now that I am here, no one will ever be able to harm you.” I decided that I was done eating. I pushed my plate to the side and turned more towards him. “You know that I am the heir of the Estrella Pack?” He nodded. “It’s not why I want to be with you though. You were given to me and I want to keep you. The Moon Goddess has her plans. Whatever those plans may be, I want to be there with you the entire step of the way.”

            His phone started ringing. “It’s my Alpha, I’m going to step out into the hall and take this call.” He kissed me on the forehead and stepped out of my office. Nerves took over my body. He knows so much about me and I only asked him three lousy questions.

            Did you feel what I felt when he kissed us?

            Of course I felt it. It was my lips. I want to accept him Abi. Do you really think that he will help us build up our pack again?

            Of course he will. Accept him when he comes back in. We need him in our lives. Ask him about his wolf. I want to know about him.

I will once we get to know him a bit more. Slowly, Abi. Let’s not get hurt in the process.

Abigail left me to my thoughts. I started to finish my sandwich while sketching more details into plans for the expansion. I decided to use the white board and started writing down suggestible time frames for the project. If everything goes to plan I can assume that the contractors can have a lot of this done by this time next year. It also depends on the amount of hands we have working and the availability of the products that are needed. I stepped away from the board and then felt arms around my waist.

            “My Alpha knows that I found you. This is some really impressive work. This is what you get paid for?” I nodded my head because I was still caught up in details and making sure I write them down. “You and Mrs. Robles were talking about her kitchen. Does the Alpha know you intend to update her kitchen?” I turned towards him. “No. it isn’t up to him right now anyways. My portion of the cut was twenty thousand dollars. To upgrade the kitchen to what Mrs. Robles is asking for will only take three thousand dollars. I am paying for it. She and the Luna were the first ones to welcome me apart from the Alpha. They also took care of me and helped me dress my wounds after being discharged from the hospital wing. I want a way to repay her without making it seem obvious. Are you really the head contractor for my project?”

“I am. I was just taking to my Alpha. They are going to start looking for another lead trainer. He understood completely. He also wants us to come back so they can formally meet you. And so I can grab my personal belongings.” I smiled at him. I was getting used to having him in my office with me. He actually made it easier to get through the plans together. He did agree that the clubhouse could be the first thing built that way we can work on renovating the pack house kitchen. He went into details for the clubhouse. Two stories with the ground floor being set for  the kitchen and dining hall, the upstairs being a recreation center, and the basement being a laundry room.

            “I’m beginning to see how we make such a great team. We had been working most of the morning that I didn’t even realize that it was lunch time. There was a knock at the door and Maria was there with our lunches. “Lunch was made simple today Ma’am. May I take your dishes from this morning?”

“Yes, please Maria. I would also like to introduce you to Jacob. He is my mate. He will probably be spending a lot of time with me in my office since we are working the expansion together. Do you think it would be too much to ask for a variety of drinks to be brought up?” Maria gave me the biggest smile. “I’m so happy for you! I’ll bring a few different things up. Dinner will be a mandatory sit down though. Alpha Herrera will be announcing that the plans had been finalized for the expansion and he wants to make sure you are there.” I smiled.

“Can you come up and remind me? We are discussing details today and then walking the property tomorrow. And Maria, you can spread word that I found my mate. Considering that I don’t get to see my brother anymore this will be the one way he gets to find out.” “So mean to your brother. But I do get it. He and Sarah spend most of their time together.” “Thank you Maria.” She left the office and I turned to look back at the plans on the board.

“Already willing to spread the word that you have your mate?” Jacob questioned me. “Adam has been in wolf form more recently. Mom’s birthday is around the corner so he tries to hide his pain the easiest way he knows how. And he hasn’t marked Sarah, so they can’t even communicate while he is in wolf form.” Jacob grabbed my waist again and pulled me closer to him. “We can mate. And I can mark you. Right here.” He licked at the spot where he would mark me. I went weak in the knees and we both fell onto the floor with him on top. “You need to stop teasing me. I haven’t even had s*x yet and you are making this really difficult to resist you.” I looked at him while he held himself over me. He pushed himself off. “You haven’t ever done anything sexually?” “No. I didn’t exactly find anyone attractive. Much less I was rather busy hiding from my apparent father. And before we mark each other I need to know if you are willing to help me build my pack back up.” He stood up and helped me get back onto my feet. I fixed my shirt then looked back up at him.
