Chapter 4: Revelation

1061 Words
Drake POV It’s already 11 A.M, and my butt is itching from boredom. I am just sitting in our classroom and patiently waiting for the professor to arrive. My focus is not on the two previous lessons I attended. I am thinking about why that guy with beautiful eyes under his glasses did not come today. His loose white T-shirt and black-ripped jeans look good to him paired with white Gucci shoes. Earlier during our break time inside the nearest cafe from the campus, we were enjoying our drinks when suddenly Keith talked seriously. "Hey bro, what's bothering you?" Keith asked. Keith is more expressive and sensible. But he won't stop asking until he knows the truth. Since high school, we'd been together and shared our good and bad times. And when it comes to serious matters, he is protective and attentive. "........" Drake just looks at him without a word. "Guys, come closer here," Keith said, calling their attention. Erick, Andrew, and Rios gathered together in the round. Their ears are ready to listen as if he is the best gossip provider in town. "Do you know the guy in that group who wears glasses that made our friend grumpy because he is not present today?" he started a question without pausing. "Spill the beans already, bastard!" Erick interrupted, who received a slap to his head from Rios. "Stop interrupting, i***t!" Keith was now irritated. Andrew, on the other hand, is just quiet but listening excitedly. He was the most behaved in the group. My friends can't start a good talk without bickering first, so I just sighed and waited until Keith spoke again. "Last Friday, I went on a date." He winked at Erick, who suddenly sip drinking vinegar out of a latte. "I'm not your boyfriend yet, so why the sour face?" he teased more. "Eehmm!" Rios coughed. Keith always makes fun of Erick because of his being short-tempered. But this time, he is flirting with him already, and Erick is not dumb not to notice this. "Just cut the crap and talk your deal, man!" Erick was losing his patience. "Kidding kidding. Ok, listen. My family and I went to an expensive and prestigious restaurant in one of the luxurious hotels in New York." Keith continues while grinning. All of us are super rich kids, and it's not a new thing to them; he is just adding spice to his words and wanted to irritate our friend more by saying extra nonsense. Erick bites his lower lips and pops out his bulging eyes towards Keith. "After we finished our dinner, we went to the lobby; I assumed my dad thought our car was waiting there already, but we were wrong. Suddenly, there were about five black cars and a grand limousine waiting outside. And a few seconds later, a tall and slender man in his grey suit walked out from the VIP lift with maybe ten bodyguards in suits. And I think my jaw dropped at that moment, trying to recognize where I had seen this man before. Only when he stepped into the limousine and motioned to his bodyguards to get inside their cars and leave did I wake up from my daze. I think I saw him before, but I am not sure exactly where, and my mind was going to blow when suddenly the image of that man popped out in my mind." Keith excitedly narrates without breathing. Rios, Erick, and Andrew laughed in unison. While I just furrowed and smiled, imagining the guy in that attire made my heart beat fast a bit. My curiosity kept rising while my friends kept laughing. "That nerdy guy in his baggy shirt in a Tesla car? Bro, you should be wearing glasses too." Erick still hadn't finished his burst of laughter. "Yeah, so that I can see how bad your eyesight is too." He replied in a sad tone with a serious face. "Stop laughing, guys. You are melting the heart of the iceberg here." teased Rios, who was studying my reaction while his hands were over Andrew's shoulder. "And his name is Allen." my friends made an O shape with their mouths except for me. Allen. So that is his name. My friends were aware that I like that guy, so they tried in their ways to get some information about Allen and his friends. I learned his friend's name too from Keith. This friend of mine is quite sneaky. Perhaps he knows that I want to get to know them, but I just can't get closer to them or know them personally. I smiled inside my mind as I thought of the guy, yet the feeling of disappointment quickly settled down inside my heart as I remembered that I will be marrying a different person; a stranger. My friends are aware that I'm in an arranged marriage; that's the sad truth. The guy who always holds his fan even during the winter season is Harold. And the grumpy-faced person, who is always ready to fight, anytime is Cyrus and then there's Danica, the only girl in the circle. This is my last class to attend today. Suddenly my phone vibrated. I checked the screen and saw the message from my brother. It read: "Visit me at my office after your class tomorrow. See you later." I didn't reply. I opened the message box, so it will be marked as read. My brother understood already that I have no objection to his request. This afternoon we will have a group study, so I can't go home early, and I feel the day is like forever for the sun to set. I want to see the sun rising again. I want to see that face as I walk to the campus aisle. Damn! I am feeling crazy with my thoughts. I am in deep thoughts about Keith's discovery; after all, I was still trying to figure out whether he is telling the truth or just making up a story to make fun of me, or he simply did it to kill the boredom. I wish I was in the position of Keith, so I could see with my own eyes how he looks in his suit attire if he is 'real'. "Good morning, class!" The professor entered the classroom as he broke my train of thought.
