PROLOGUE
JACKSON Ever since in the previous month, when I landed in India, I did not get spare time for a minute. Even for today, I had to postpone an important meeting with Arjun Goenka, who is supposedly the king of all businesses that are held in the country. No matter that I rule in all kinds of businesses that are held in LA and New York, Goenka's rule here, in India. And I need to have good relations with them if I want to set up my company's branch here. "Stop being a bloody cheat all the f*****g time!" I heard Ethan hiss at Raj as he shoved all the cards that were in his hand. Raj is always the cheat among the three of us. I was not in a mood to deal with their s**t again, so I left the table, leaving both of them to fight with each other. I needed to get out of this elite club as I needed some fresh air to breathe. It was a bit awkward for me to want to get out at this hour, as I am not been much into nights, stars and the moon ever since I had left India in my childhood. But tonight I wanted to watch the serene moon. I put on my black jacket and I grabbed my phone and keys. I was about to quietly leave both of them bickering when Raj called out, "Where?" I stopped in my tracks because I had not even taken a step forward when the asshole noticed me. "I will be back in a while," I told him without having a glance at him so that he would not ask any further questions. Because I was myself not sure of where I was heading to. Once I stepped out of the club, cold winds struck my face. I looked at the sky above me, which was dark enough to make some stars visible in it but contained enough light in it to give me hope that one day, I would be able to find her. There were fewer stars in the sky above me, as compared to the time when I used to watch them with her. I took a few breaths before my legs automatically moved ahead. My hands were stuffed in the pocket of my jacket, and my eyes scanned the area as I walked further into the unknown road. There was a bus stop some meters away that probably led to the main capital city. This club was situated a bit away from the capital territory. I don't know why but I involuntarily went to the bus stop and boarded a bus, without even wanting to know where it was heading to. I just wanted some peace with myself, or maybe, somewhere in my heart, I hoped that I may find her. I may find her on the bus, on the way to the place where the bus was heading to, or to the destination where the bus would take me. I paid for the ticket and looked outside the window. There were hardly seven passengers on the bus, and all of them were engrossed in their own businesses. The bus started and crossed the almost empty roads of New Delhi. I bus came to a halt at an anonymous station when I deboarded it. This time, it was not involuntary. I got down from the bus because my eyes went in the direction of a bridge, which reminded me of something. The bridge at which I used to meet her was somewhat similar to this one. Or, maybe, it was the same bridge? "I miss you, Misty!" I muttered as I once again looked at the sky and silently prayed to God to help me find her. I don't even know her real name! I walked further on the lone bridge as I cursed myself for not knowing her real name when I realized that I was not alone on the bridge. I halted in my tracks when I realized that it was a girl, as I heard some soft noises made by the anklets. No man would ever wear an anklet. She was behind me, I turned around, and saw that a petite figure of a girl was standing over the edge of the bridge, looking up to the sky from it. I could tell that she craved for peace, that's why she was here because she was silently staring at the moon. Even though her face was not visible as the black long hair was blocking her side profile from me because the cool winds were making her hair twirl. She wore a white middy that made her give me a feeling of her serenity. Just like my Misty was. I neared her, and she might have noticed my presence there because she turned her head in my direction, as soon as I took my first step in her direction. And guess what? All my intuitions proved to be for nothing! It was Naina. The arrogant and rich brat. What would she do here at this hour? I looked around to find her daughter, Pearl, but this woman was all alone here. That sweet little angel makes things easier to deal with her mother. As much as I try to stay away from Naina, she manages to collide with me every now and then. It could have been bearable if her daughter was here with her, but even Pearl was not here. I rolled my eyes were I saw her frowning at me. "What are you doing here?" She asked as she crossed her arms at her chest, which made her breasts look even more full. No matter how much this woman irritates me, I must admit that she owns a damn sexy figure, that could make any man drop to his knees for her. No doubt she is this arrogant, completely opposite to my Misty, who was serene. "Why? Do you own this bridge?" I asked her. "What if I do?" She said with a raised brow. I was about to counter-reply her, but I decided to let the stupid argument subside here only. "Forget it!" I muttered and started to walk away from her. I was halfway when I heard her cry from my behind. I turned around to find her squatting and holding her ankle. She appeared to have her ankle sprained, but how? This i***t woman won't let me live in peace! . . . . . . . Interesting, is it? Old readers are welcome again and new readers are also presented with a heartfelt welcome. It is a stand-alone story, but has its connections with my other books, "My control-freak billionaire", and "Arresting the don". Naina won't be single and alone anymore. :) I hope that I won't disappoint you all in this new journey. Stay safe, fit, and happy. XOXO
