CHAPTER 2: SOLD TO THE DEVILS

~ALTHEA I watched Alpha Theron continue to snore. I was waiting for him to fall into a deeper sleep so that I would execute my plan. I knew it was a great risk to steal from the Alpha but I needed the money; my family needed the money. If my birth parents had been alive to care for me; maybe I might not have turned out this way but sadly, they were not here. None of our birth parents were and only the goddess knew what happened to them. For that reason, I had to fend for myself and the rest of my house. We all looked out for each other. After a few more minutes, I waved my hand before the snoring Alpha's face and he did not make any reaction. I smiled, he was in too deep. I slowly lifted myself to a sitting position and carefully pulled his left hand forward. I stopped to see if he would react and nothing happened. So I proceeded to pull out the ring with the largest gem. It was a red diamond and it was a very rare stone. If I was able to pull off selling this, then we would never go hungry again. I squeezed it hard in my fist and quietly sneaked out of bed. Then I picked up the robe and covered my body with it before racing out of the room. I reached the old room and found my rags. They had finally dried and I put them on. I hid the ring between my breasts and was about to walk out when the door burst open. There, Alpha Theron Klaus stood, chest falling and rising visibly. His nose flared up with every intake of breath and there was a madness in his eyes. "You!" He roared and I flinched backward at the harshness of his tone. "You little thief!" He added and instantly dashed toward me. I glared shakily at him as I gripped the edges of the dresser behind me. My heart began to beat in a rhythm that scared even me. My body began to tremble and I knew that any other reaction from him would cause my legs to turn into jelly. "I— I didn't steal anything!" I lied. "How dare you?!" He roared and when he reached me, he lifted his hand in the air and landed a very hard slap across my face. The impact was so strong that it sent me tumbling to the ground immediately. Pain tore across my left cheek and sent my senses reeling. My ears continued to ring and I struggled to see for a few seconds as I spat out blood. "It seems that I made a mistake showing you hospitality! I'll treat you like the thief that you want to be!" He snapped. "I promise! I'm not a thief!" I cried. Confessing was the last thing I wanted to do at this moment. He landed a hard kick on my left rib. This caused me to curl my body up in pain instantly and I cried out. The Alpha showed no mercy as he hit me again. I screamed this time because the pain had become unbearable. Tears began to flow out of my eyes immediately and I thought I would die from the pain. "Are you ready to admit your crimes now, you little thief?!" He demanded. I slowly shook my head at him in denial. "I'm not a thief," I answered in a shaky voice. Alpha Theron leaned over me and suddenly pulled my hair. I squirmed and cried as I struggled to break free but he even pulled at my already bad dress in the process. It got torn and he slapped me again. I collapsed to the floor in tears, unable to fight. I writhed in pain on the floor as I felt beyond disrespected and used. Wheezing sounds escaped my lips with every intake of breath and I suspected that he had broken some of my ribs. "Where is it?" He demanded. I flinched at his order. Since I could not take any more of his abuse; defeated, I shakily took out his ring. He snatched it out of my hand and spat on my body. "I have had enough of your nonsense! You've broken too many rules and you're a bad influence on others. Since you have refused my generous hospitality of keeping you here, I shall sell you off to the Lycan Devils when next they come to collect girls!" He announced. My heart sank into my stomach. Of all fates that could befall me, that was the worst one. "And guess what?" He added and squatted to my level. "Their next visit is tomorrow!" Alpha Theron announced before breaking into a deep chuckle. My heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Legends whispered of their dominance, for the Lycan devils ruled over all packs, their authority unquestioned and unchallenged. With a single glance, they could command the obedience of an entire werewolf clan, bending them to their will. Whispers of their sadistic nature and wicked tastes were well-known, painting them as masters of cruelty. They were not content with mere dominance; they reveled in the suffering of others. The tales spoke of their insatiable hunger for power and ruthlessness, and how they collected women from different packs, subjecting them to a life worse than hell. If Alpha Theron was sacrificing me to these three devilish brothers, then without a doubt, my fate was sealed - I would be reduced to nothing more than dirt, crushed beneath their merciless heels. "Guards! Take this woman away!" The Alpha roared and stepped over my body as if I was just a piece of rug. I didn't even have time to process my thoughts or my next move when two guards walked into the room and started dragging me away. My legs got bruised as they got scratched against the hard surface of the castle floor. In no time, we reached the dungeon and they threw me into it before locking the iron-barred doors. I remained on the floor, writhing and crying helplessly. I had finally met my demise. All I had ever wanted was to protect my small family and it had gotten me into this. I quietly sobbed and my voice came out in whimpering sounds. I could not make hard movements due to my injury. Fortunately for me, I will be better by tomorrow. I might have been born wolf-less but I still shared some privileges of werewolves. I could heal faster than the average human and I could smell better too but it could not be compared to that of the real werewolves in the pack. So I stayed on the floor like that, my stomach churning with hunger and my body burning with pain until I fell asleep along the line. "Get up! b***h!" A voice screamed and a sharp pang spread across my body. My eyes came open as I curled up in pain. I looked up to see the guards from before. I stared up at them questioningly. It had been okay when the Alpha hit me but I could not tolerate it coming from the guards. "Your judgment day has come," the second one answered my unasked question and they both broke into laughter. My eyes went wide open. Had I slept so long that the next day had already come? It felt as if I had only slept for a few minutes. They suddenly grabbed my hands and began to drag me out the same way they did yesterday. I clenched my teeth together as I tried to swallow up the pain. My ribs had barely healed and they were dragging me out again. We soon burst outside and the first thing that hit me was the brightness of the world. Yet I was in no position to protest. The men continued to drag me along the way until we reached the pack square which was situated just outside the castle. The pack square was where important gatherings were held, especially those concerning the pack. Criminals were punished publicly and public relations were established there as well. I noticed that the entire pack members had filled the square and Alpha Theron was already present before the wooden stage. The men dragged me up the stairs and threw me carelessly before ten maidens who were already lined up there. I slowly struggled to my feet and the first thing I noticed was the fact that I was the only one dressed in rags. The girls squinted their noses at me but they did not dare say a word since they were also criminals. The crowd murmured as they saw me and I noticed some people staring back at me with amusement. The people were separated into two sets. One group on the left and the rest on the right. The center was left open and the floor was covered with a long red carpet. I figured that this was to honor the Lycans. Suddenly, a loud trumpet was blown and the crowd turned their heads behind just in time to see the Lycans' crew come into view. There were about six white horses with men dressed in black uniforms; riding in two sets coming our way. They were followed by a white carriage that screamed luxury and power. Behind the carriage were another six sets of horses and their riders. The carriage came to a stop before the red carpet and one by one, the Lycan triplets stepped out of it. The crowd bowed and fear immediately seized all of us. No one dared to speak as the Lycans walked quietly up to the stage. "It is an honor to grace my small pack with your presence again this year, my lords," Alpha Theron began while still bowing. "Please, rise. All of you," A deep yet authoritative voice began. I looked up to see the most beautiful men I had ever seen in my entire life. So much so that I became dumbfounded and my heart skipped a beat. But behind their enchanting appearance lurked an aura of danger and dominance that sent shivers down my spine. It was as if their presence inspired both nightmares and desire. "Thank you, my Lord. These are the girls I have prepared for you. You may choose or take them all," Our Alpha continued while laughing nervously. He was on edge and I had never seen him like this before. The men nodded and they walked up to us. I was at the end of the line yet I was able to get a good view of them. The one who spoke was bigger than the rest of his brothers, towering over them with his muscular and intimidating frame. His broad shoulders and chiseled features exuded raw strength, and a permanent air of seriousness surrounded him. An irritated scowl was glued to his face. His icy gray eyes, piercing and intense, scanned the other girls with a calculating gaze. That stare alone made my knees weak and my heart raced. His second brother possessed a striking appearance of his own, with emerald green eyes that seemed to hold secrets untold. He stood slightly taller than the rest, projecting an aura of confidence and authority. His lean and agile build hinted at his remarkable agility, and one could only imagine the grace with which he moved. There was a mysterious air to him, a certain charm that stirred curiosity and captivated my senses. In contrast, the third brother seemed to carry himself with a quiet and restrained demeanor. His hazel brown eyes held a depth that spoke volumes, and though he didn't say a word, his presence demanded attention. He had a lithe physique, suggesting the perfection of a refined gentleman. With his hands casually tucked into his pockets, he seemed nonchalant, as if he cared little for the world around him. All three men had dark and glossy hair, each shade competing with the others in its depth and volume. They looked like dark knights, devils of night and seduction, only adding more to their intrigue . Despite sharing certain similarities in their features, each brother had a unique quality that distinguished him from the rest, making him stand out in his own way. The Lycans began to pull out girls from the line. They had picked four girls and I began to feel that I would be saved after all when they suddenly stopped before me. As I gazed up at them, a shiver ran down my spine, captivated by the intensity of their piercing stares. In that moment, it felt as if a message flowed silently between the four of us, a mysterious connection that everyone else was clueless to. I felt it deep inside me - an unusual yearning. But that spell was broken in the next second. "You're coming with us," the green-eyed Lycan spoke for the first time.
