Fate Mate or attraction

Yuri - POV My head spun after learning about my past from Emily and Alpha Silas and realizing that I was cursed. I couldn't help but wonder why my mother kept me in the dark and didn't tell me that my birth father was a hybrid human dragon instead of a wolf. That Beta Derrick pretended to be my father and kept this information from me, which only added to the mystery. "F**k, I hate mysteries," I yelled, startling Elena, causing the coffee mugs to slip from her crate and crash. "I'm sorry for startling you, Elena." I rushed to her side to help clean up the mess. "Relax, Yuri, I've got this covered," she reassured me with sympathy in her gaze. "What?" I asked, meeting Elena's stare. "Yuri, everything will be alright. Don't overthink," I nodded. Elena held the Alpha title and was also Luna. She was a superwoman, yet humble and caring for everyone around her. "Easy for you to say, Elena, but learning my fate thread is a curse, and being unable to find a mate. It's frustrating." I didn't want to whine like a "b***h," but my mood swings were not entirely my fault. I had been working on Alpha Silas's documents day and night in his absence. I had to kick Mac out of the room because I realized he was attracted to me. His gaze gave me a strange tingling sensation, and he was more of a distraction to me than a help in sorting the work. "Yuri, did you hear what I just said?" Elena brought me back to reality. "What?" I blinked, alarmed, searching Elena's face. "Drake will be here tonight, and I will use my mind-reading power on him. I sense he is hiding something," Elena added. "Why?" I asked. "Have you not noticed that since we last saw him, Drake has looked lost and worried? He is quiet and distant and hardly visits us in the Pack. I tried to get information from Cindy, my director, who told me that Drake didn't even show up in company meetings. So, where is Drake spending his time?" Elena said, curious. "God, Elena, aren't you aware of Drake? He must be man whoring." Elena shook her head, disagreeing with my answer. "So, what do you think is going on? He doesn't even have a clan or anything." I spoke too insensitively and regretted saying it in a bitter tone. "Being lonely is troublesome, and I know that well," Elena muttered as if I had pulled her back to her past thoughts and struggles. I held her hand to break her from her sorrowful thoughts. "I didn't mean to be insensitive towards Drake. I am just not in the right headspace," I added with a shrug and sighed in exhaustion. "You need rest, Yuri. Let Mac take over the work," Elena suggested, and I nodded. Thanks to Elena, I stepped out of the office and walked towards my home to get some sleep, but the bright sunlight made it a troublesome walk. The sunlight hurt my tired eyes. "Your stance is wrong, Edward," Mac's firm voice roared, startling me on my zombie walk home. I looked to my left to see Mac standing shirtless and showing his toned muscles. It was not my first time seeing him shirtless, but there was a weird atmosphere, like some stupid romance drama was playing. Mac's emerald eyes met mine, and my heart skipped a beat. "This feeling is just a side effect of not catching up on my sleep, and I have never felt such things for any guy except for lust sometimes." "Yuri," Mac called and walked up to me, but some young she-wolves blocked his path and surrounded him, flaunting their beautiful faces. I had time to leave before Mac and I talked awkwardly. I stepped into my home, shut the door, and sighed out loud. I wondered about Mac and his toned body and heated emerald gaze, but the surrounding women frustrated me. "Sleep on it, women. This is just stupidity." ******** Mac - POV "Omega Mac, I'm Ruby. Can you help me learn self-defense?" Ruby's eyes held a motive behind her innocent smile. "You can learn from Edward; he's a senior knight," I replied. Ruby nodded but still kept her smile intact. "I will do that, Omega Mac. I heard you will soon be Gamma of the Pack." "You heard it wrong. I am both the gamma and the omega," I corrected. Some Gamma soldiers who overheard me held furious gazes as I strolled out of the training arena towards Yuri. However, I stopped when I saw how exhausted she had looked a few minutes ago. I should cover Yuri's work. Yuri kicked me out because she was flustered when she learned my wolf attracted her, and I wasn't too fond of how the distance between Yuri and me was growing. What if this attraction is temporary, and I'm not Yuri's mate? It's better to keep my emotions in check. "Why do I see you and Yuri lost in thought?" Elena asked, sipping her coffee. Before Elena could ask more questions, the baby monitor crackled with three crying babies, and Elena left the dining room. I sighed in relief and didn't get interrogated. I walked into the Alpha's office to get some work done since he was on a business trip because of an emergency at the Human office. I stared out the window; it was already sunset. I turned to the sound of heels click-clacking to find Yuri standing at the entrance in a short black dress and red heels. She looked so hot that I couldn't help but stare at her. "Mac, stop staring at me like a perv," Yuri growled, but her face turned red from blushing. "Yuri, you look cute when you blush," I teased, and her eyes were in a fury, trying hard to cover the red blush. "You need to change into more formal attire for the evening, Mac." "Why? What's the occasion?" "Alpha Silas and Drake closed a good deal and earned fortunes in the Human realm, so we're celebrating tonight." s**t, I forgot that tonight is a small dinner party, and my mood soured hearing Drake's name because, for some reason, I saw Yuri light up at his name rather than curse him when she used to hear it. ******* Drake -POV I drove to the wolf land, not in the mood for a dinner party, but I couldn't decline Elena's request. The music from the movie "Alpha's Forbidden Mate" played on the radio, and I smiled, remembering Elena and our shooting days when jealousy rose between Silas and me. Elena was so dense that she couldn't even notice it sometimes. I recalled the day Elena brought her dog Bruno onto the set. Silas cringed at Bruno's presence, and Bruno peed on Silas's shoes as revenge for growling at him. The scent of pines hit my nostrils, alerting my dragon that we had arrived at the wolf land. The soldiers allowed us entry, and I saw Silas' car parked, which meant he had just returned from work. We both stepped out of our vehicles. "Elena convinced you to have dinner?" Silas asked. "She did. How's the work going? Did the marketing team meet with you?" I inquired. "Yeah, they did. I directed how the marketing should be done for the new launch of the phone," Silas replied with an exhausted sigh. "Sorry to bother you when you have newborn triplets and Elena is still recovering. I put a workload on you," I apologized. Silas halted and blinked at me for a few seconds. "What's with your stare?" I grunted. "Are you okay, Drake? Because you're apologizing to me. You always have that haughty attitude," Silas observed. I rolled my eyes at his question and walked inside, where the delicious smell of food lingered in the air. I entered the dining room to see Elena walking in with strollers and the triplets giggling. Silas went to Elena and kissed her forehead and his kids, and I turned my gaze away to avoid feeling the void. I looked at Yuri stepping into the dining hall and stared at her in a daze as she smiled and talked with Emily. "What is this feeling?" I wondered to myself.
