A Forced Shift

1409 Words
(Alex) I look at Aksana as she writhers on the forest ground in pain. A forced shift is as painful as the first shift. I hate seeing my little sister in pain. When she shifted for the first time at the age of ten, we were all shocked. She was in her room doing homework when we heard her scream. We watched in horror until dad realized what was happening and began to guide her through her shift. When her shift finished a beautiful white wolf was in front of us, exhausted from the pain, yet no one could smell her wolf. It was rare to have a white wolf, but since we had no idea why we couldn’t smell her wolf mom and dad said to keep it a secret. Dad bought a land not far away and had Lidia put a protection spell over it so she could run free in her wolf form and no one could see her which is where we are now. “What the…” I heard dad say, making me look at Aksana only to see a swirl or white light dance around Aksana, slowly caressing her fur. It began to move from her tail, to her paws, to her body, up her neck and ears, then lingered on her face before it disappeared. Mom, dad, and me gasped. Aksana’s wolf was snow white with blue tips on her hears, tail, paws, blue tribal drawings on her snout and body, and the triple moon on her forehead. “Wow” dad said. “What he said” I said in awe. Moon walked around us and nudged me making me laugh. ‘Let’s run’ I hear Moon say. “How is Aksana, Moon?” dad asked. ‘Exhausted. The forced shift was a lot for her, but she gave me control to run’ Moon says and dad nod. “Okay, you can run with your brother, but be careful and don’t leave the land in your wolf form” dad said. ‘Yes, daddy’ I hear Moon say. “Alex, take care of your sister and don’t be home too late” mom said. “Yes, mom” I said shifting back to my wolf form. Moon was big for a she wolf, yet she was still smaller than me. Moon yipped and took off running, so I let my wolf take over to follow his sister. During the whole time we were running, I couldn’t get out of my mind what I saw. After a few hours of running, Moon shifted back to Aksana’s human form. I handed her a t shirt and she put it on. ‘Moon, what is going on? What was that all about?’ I linked her. “I don’t know much Alex. The only thing I could hear while the shift was being forced was a beautiful, melodic voice saying ‘Moon Warrior’. Besides that, I’m as clueless as you are” Moon said. ‘How is Aksana?’ I asked. “Sleeping” she replied trying to stifle a yawn. ‘Climb on, Let’s get you home so you can rest’ I linked her. She jumped on and playfully nipped my ear making me growl at her playfully as she laughed. I ran back home, where mom and dad were waiting for us. After I shift into my human for I see Moon giving dad and mom a hug before she goes inside. “How was the run?” dad asked. “It was good dad. I cherish these moments with her” I saith truthfully. “We know you do honey” mom smiles. “I’m going to shower” I said hugging them both then went to my room to shower. As I showered an image of Stacy popped into my head. It was an image of her smiling while dancing with Aksana. Nobody knows, but Stacy is my mate. I have known since I turned eighteen, but I’ve been wanting to give her the freedom she deserves and when she turns eighteen and finds out I’m her mate, hopefully she’ll accept me. I finished my shower and dried myself before putting on my boxer briefs and my pajama pants. I then walked to Aksana’s room where I quietly opened the door. I walked in and covered her. She was freshly showered and dressed in her pajamas. I then walked to the door and turned to look at her. I felt our parents behind me. “Are you alright?” dad asked. He knew when there was something bothering me. They both did. “What does all this means? First she shifts at the age of ten to a white wolf and now this? Not to mention Moon said that while her shift was forced she heard a beautiful melodic voice chanting saying ‘Moon Warrior’ over and over again’ I tell my parents. Mom and dad stiffen behind me making me turn around to look at them. “What is it?” I asked. “Are you sure that’s what you heard?” dad asked. “It’s what Moon said. I don’t think Moon would lie to us” I said. “Maybe she heard wrong” mom said. “Why? What’s going on?” I asked. “We’re not sure, but a Moon Warrior is a myth” dad said. “We’ll look into this. You need to rest. You have patrol in the morning” dad said. Something told me that Aksana needed to train harder. “Mom, kick up the training for Aksana… please. Something tells me she's going to need it” I said before looking at my sister one more time before walking to my room. After tonight, I have a feeling that something is going to change. I have no idea if it's because of Aksana or if it has something to do with the pack. I open the drawer on my nightstand and take out a box. I opened it taking out the pictures I have in there. I look through them. It was pictures of us, my parents, Aksana, and me. There were even some of Cory, Aksana, and me. We used to be good friends and hand out, but one day, Cory stopped hanging out with Aksana. I asked Cory a few times, but he never told me. Cory wasn't the only one who stopped being friends with Aksana, other pack members did as well especially the ranked wolves and warriors. Mom and dad noticed this, but they never said anything thinking that it was just kids being kids. I still remember Aksana's first shift. I was in class when i heard a female voice in my head which made me jump. I had no idea what it was at first until I heard it again. It was Aksana pleading for me to help her, that something was wrong with her and that her body was in excruciating pain. She told me where she was and when I found her I was beyond shocked, but her screams snapped me out of it. I linked our parents and I was able to get her home. Four hours later, Aksana shifted into a beautiful and rare white wolf. Her eyes glowed even brighter with her wolf present. How is she a werewolf? I have no idea, but she is and she shifted at a very early age. "We need to keep this to ourselves for now. No one can know she shifted" dad said looking at Aksana and we all agreed. It was difficult for Aksana to stay in school. Sometimes she would run out of school with so much anger that I knew she was going to shift. Kids were giving her a hard time because they thought she was human and that Cory didn't want to be her friend anymore. That's when a thought came to mind and I began training Aksana. Our parents didn't agree at first, but when they saw Aksana was being calmer at school they agreed and joined me in training her. I sigh looking at the pictures. "I will protect you no matter what, sis" I said to the picture of my sister and me. I looked at the clock on my nightstand to see it was two in the morning. I have patrol at six in the morning. I groaned and laid down instantly falling asleep. ***
