Chapter 3

Adrian's POV: When we stepped inside the smell of something sweet instantly hit my nose. My wolf stirred while pacing slowly. I chanced a glance at Angelo. "Do you smell at that?" He nodded, eyes already glazed over. He always had a more sensitive nose. As we walked closer to the kitchen, he let out a low growl. The scent was strong now and my wolf was now growling at me too. It smelled heavily of vanilla and hints of rain. I placed my hand on Angelo's shoulder when we finally caught sight of who the smell was coming from. f**k. Managing to calm my wolf down, I mind linked Angelo to do the same. 'you're going to scare her'. Her breath hitched when she first saw us, hands pulling down at her shorts. That seemed to be the breaking point for me. I don't know how long my wolf had gained control but I finally snapped back when she was softly rambling, introducing herself. "I'm Rosalina." "Adrian." I squeezed Angelo's shoulder but he was still struggling to gain control. "This is Angelo." That seemed to bring him back. When he turned and covered his nose to block out her strong scent she rambled out an apology. I probably would've been amused if I didn't feel my wolf would take control any second. 'mate' he growled loudly. I pushed him down as long as I could, giving her a brief smile before explaining we'd be right back. I kept my hand on Angelo's back, guiding him to a room far enough where her scent wouldn't affect his wolf so much. He inhaled lowly, eyes flicking back to their original color. "You need to learn how to control that." I murmured lowly. He grunted in response while running a hand through his hair. "Do we go back in there and just pretend we don't want to mate her?" His voice cut off with a growl, eyes changing back to his wolfs. My chest rumbled with my own growl. "You need to f*****g calm down." When his eyes finally stayed their original color, he sighed heavily. "I've got it." He waved off at the look I gave him. Her face was flushed when we returned. She played with them hem of her sweatshirt and weakly gestured to the table. "Your mom- uh- Mrs. Steele had me make dinner for you. It might not be the best but..." She trailed off as her face flushed more. I slowly took a seat, eyeing her. "Did you not eat?" Her lips parted, before closing in confusion. "What?" "Did you eat dinner?" Angelo asked gruffly. "Are you hungry?" "No- I- this dinner is for you." He hummed softly and took his own seat. "You can sit if you'd like." She seemed to hesitate before taking a seat across the two of us. The air was tense. Her shorts rode up after she sat down. I averted my eyes and picked at the food. "It's good, thank you." She nodded, silently, still playing with her sweatshirt nervously. "She told me you wouldn't be home for a while, I would've changed otherwise." She forced a laugh. Was she embarrassed? That might've explained why she looked so flushed. "She mentioned something vaguely about you. You'll be moving in, right?" She nodded at Angelo's question. "You can wear whatever you'd like. It'll be your home too." She bit her lip, softly. I couldn't tear my eyes away. A small noise of surprise slipped past her lips when she caught me looking. I managed a resemblance of a smile to calm her and it seemed to work. She smiled back and started asking about our work. Conversation was surprisingly easy. She was sweet, her voice was soft. My wolf purred, content. When she'd voiced that she had to leave, the purring stopped. Angelo stood and helped bring the dirty dishes to the sink. "It started raining pretty hard when we were on our way back. It might be safer to stay here for tonight." He glanced down at her. "Oh no, it's fine, I promise." "It is raining pretty hard." I commented. She peered at me for a moment and seemed to think about it. "You'll be my bosses, I don't think that's really professional." She finally decided on. The human part of me knew it was completely reasonable, she was human herself. She didn't know how possessive our wolves would be just meeting their mate. My wolf side didn't see the logic. Angelo cleared his throat loudly when a growl tore for my throat. She froze for a second before tilting her head. It should've scared her, my wolf purred once again when he realized her body was reacting to the mate pull, making her calmer around them. "Bosses." Angelo tested the word on his tongue. He gave a humorless laugh. "I-" She started but cut herself out with a confused look. "I'll stay, if it's still okay with you." My eyebrows went up from how quick she changed her mind. Angelo looked to me. "Of course it is." She smiled again. We gestured for her to follow us. "I don't know why but I feel like we've maybe met before?" She questioned. "I know we haven't but I feel pulled towards you both." She seemed to think about what she's said before her mouth slipped open in embarrassment. "Not like- I didn't mean it in a way that-" She cleared her throat. "I don't know what I meant by that. Please just ignore I said it." I laughed quietly. "It's.. normal." I supplied after a moment. There was no way for her to know what I was talking about but it seemed to relax her. The mate bond was working quickly, we both noticed. Angelo opened the door to a room we've had prepared for years. We've had it waiting for when we met our mate. A room we'd all share. "We'll be staying here tonight." "All of us?" "If that's alright with you." He smiled but his eyes were dark again. She looked around and hummed in appreciation. "It's a nice room, you must've put a lot of work into it." "For you." Her gazed snapped up. "Excuse me?" "This," he explained, "is for you." "This room?" "Yes." His voice was deeper. I sighed when his wolf gained full control again. "You like it, don't you?" I watched closely for her reaction. She didn't seem put off like she might've been earlier. She seemed to preen under the attention. "Yes, I really do." "Angelo." I warned darkly when he took a step closer and cupped her waist. His wolf eyed me with a half smirk. "She doesn't mind, do you?" Her face was flushed again but she gently shook her hair. Soft curls brushed her face. "See, she knows we're her mates." He bent down and brushed her hair from her neck, exposing the skin there. My wolf howled inside, demanding to take control. I tried, I really did, to push him down. But when she uttered 'please' so softly, so politely, who was I to say no?
