Xanthus                                                                           13 July, Tennessee City, 8:00 pm "Why not Xeron?", asked Xanthus as he pouted like a cute puppy in pain. He was in the black Gucci pants he adored and the blue shirt with a broken button on top.  His jawline exposed his makeup and those earrings jungled as he swung his head from side to side. His shoes were Xeron's gift when he had turned twenty last year. Xanthus was still grinning after he had successfully managed to convince his boyfriend of the preparations tonight. "So are you gonna come to his birthday party or not?", asked Xanthus commandingly with a pointed index sticking at Xeron's nose. The latter said nothing as he explored Xanthus's beauty with his sleepy eyes. it was a beautiful image to look at after a night of twisting and turning in his uncomfortable mattress with a small table fan that shut off its power late into the night. Xeron drifted back to his senses when Xanthus grabbed him by the hand and pulled him to the restaurant in front of which they were standing. The evening sun had almost set and Xeron knew he had to leave. His dad had demanded a meeting at eight and getting a shower after his daily yoga session was very necessary.  After all, the meeting was meant for only him. ONLY HIM. the others were invited just for the sake of making it a grand meeting. they would just eat and leave after they learned the reason.  Xeron sat inside with sweaty thighs on the table of two while Xanthus pulled his head from side to side, as he scanned the menu for a good evening snack. Xeron was smiling as he slowly held his head with his hands, staring dreamily at his lover who had been the reason for many precious moments in his life.  Dates where they had been giggling to jokes. Late night walks. Beautiful days in bed. Arcade game fights. Delicious dinners Xanthus made. Icecream eating challenges. And not to speak of the worst but as expected some silly arguments with no particular reason. Xanthus ordered a Cappucnio with a ham sandwich while he asked the waiter for some precious time after which he would order for Xeron, to which the waiter agreed with a pleasant smile and respectful bow. Xanthus turned his face to Xeron who was lifted away by his thoughts and spoke with a cute, "Hmph" in the beginning hoping that his partner would fall for it. But yes. He never fell for it. And that fact was inevitable.  'Xeron...Hmm...i feel pissed off when you speak so so so less. You remind me of that someone I had once as a friend." Curious as ever to know more and more about his lover, Xeron asked softly "May I know who this fellow is?": Xanthus brightened upon hearing and he pulled out his small pinky. he then showed it to the flabbergasted Xeron and grinned widely,' Promise me that you would come to dad's party if I tell you."The pinkies were exchanged after ten minutes of explaining how illegal it was to break promises. Xeron nodded and he waited. Xanthus began after clearing his throat. His eye was shining and sparkles of teases were glittering deep inside that mind "It's a long story after all. It might never end today here at the restaurant. Why not tell you this after a night at our dorm tomorrow?." Xeron sighed. He knew how Xanthus was very clever enough to trick him. Deceive him. It would be something absurd and even funny to the small-minded Xanthus to do this but Xeron never quite interrupted these small tricks.  Because he loved it whenever the other smiled. The smile was what he would cherish even after they departed. The smile made his moods lift up. The smile that he often dreamed of. The same laugh that he would hold onto when he would have to confess that he was a liar. A disdainful murderer. A good-for-nothing piece of s**t. That quite made him lose control of his emotions. A drop left his eye. And Xanthus did notice. Dismayed and wounded, he wiped it off after stating that he was sorry a million times."I apologize for my Xeron. I really do. It's just-I feel desperate and pained by whatever pain you face too.....I ...I.." Xeron found himself holding in his feelings. A tear escaped his dense face but yes, he knew that to feel more desperate would be meaningless especially when he saw him, standing right in front, in blood and flesh, in the most gorgeous manner shedding tears for whatsoever reason he has managed to perceive guilt into. Xeron slowly lifted his chin with an index. Xanthus exposed only anguish and he slowly whispered, "I wanna be with you always. Like always." Xeron nodded slightly, though his hesitation was obvious. He however concealed it softly and placed a slight peck on his lips. The fresh scent of strawberry flushing his lips as he inhaled and felt the lip gloss of his boyfriend who tended to much lip care all the while.  Xeron slowly left an impression of his dry lips on Xanthus's lips which made him feel for it. His fingertips would caress his lips and he would remark, "Wish this impression remained for many years" Xeron wouldn't smile but a nod. A nod with his eyes expressed comfort and love. Xanthus was half munching through the ham sandwich when he saw Xeron peaking behind him and around, with two busy eyes that scanned the outsiders onlooking the transparent glass pane nearby while he perceived every cafeteria staff too.  The crowd was brimming in their own commotion to be even noticing Xeron paying them attention. Xanthus never actually understood such weird habits of Xeron but he knew he wouldn't enquire either. He was too blinded by love to even autocorrect the best word in the dictionary-Xeron. They walked slowly through the commotion of the sunset. The time was half-past seven and Xeron was feeling sweaty all of a sudden. The meeting was scheduled for eight which left him distracted when Xanthus was talking about the cold weather amidst the vehicles and noise. Xeron would click his tongue whenever the honking and screaming of the mob penetrate into his feeble ears. He wouldn't even complain. Just a sigh or a frustrated clicking of his tongue. However this made Xanthus smile and he would whisper," At least these noises make me aware of your emotions." Xeron wouldn't say anything. He would smile because he knew the sunset and dark surroundings wouldn't make Xanthus aware of the grin. But that day Xanthus stopped walking all of a sudden, surprisingly a few meters away from lane 416, the meeting and goodbye lane.  It was where Xeron had managed to construct his two-storeyed house in Xanthus's imagination so they never saw each other's homes due to the creepy forest areas that concealed half of the rough path covered in stones and mud. Xanthus didn't leave his hand and he faced Xeron. A streetlight gave them sufficient illuminance and for the first time, he didn't know what Xanthus was gonna say. "I know that your father is a stern fellow." Xeron sighed and nodded, realizing the sudden De Ja Vu. "The sigh itself conveys your disapproval but I really want us to be together. I want to meet your dad one day. I really do." The last three words caught Xeron off guard. He didn't say anything Xanthus didn't insist. "Fine. I guess that is a no." The rest of the walk as they crossed vendor shops, pharmacies, and petrol stations into graveyards and cemeteries brushed against dense creepers and forests, made the stroll much quieter and cumbersome. Xeron usually was someone who preferred silence but his heart had a hole now. This was approximately the twenty-fifth time Xanthus kept pleading for a meeting with his dad. They had reached the lane. It was a pathway where the road broke and it gave way into dense and extremely dense forests. The way was muddy and footprints weren't much common. "Was the party a lie?", came Xeron's question as he started to walk off after a wave. His back was facing Xanthus and a small feeble voice came," Yeah..um...I wanted you to meet my dad..' Xeron nodded curtly. He said nothing. He kept tracing the path of the broken railway tracks and all of a sudden, two arms wrapped around his back in a sob. He stopped abruptly and he felt the arms tightening. The tiny arms were so delightful. The arms which would embrace any cold-hearted soul. Xeron heard him say, "Stay with me tonight. Please...Just. Stay. With. Me." Xeron heard sobs. He slowly turned around. He then lifted the chin of his teary-eyed Xanthus-whose black eyes were engulfed in sorrows. The dimness of the broken lamp hanging from above the maple tree made way for some light. Xeron slowly traced his finger through Xanthus's forehead, cheeks, jawline, and lips.  He turned himself on when Xanthus moaned,".Mmm...more.." Xeron grabbed Xanthus by the waist and he went in for a vigorous kiss. Xanthus reciprocated furiously. A kiss so embracing with both their arms wrapped around their waists, left them completely blinded by love.
