Maya’s P.O.V “Can we please get some lunch. You have been shopping for three blooming hours.” Nolan groaned plonking himself down on a bench. It was true, I had been dragging him around for three straight hours. I do not know how he puts up with me. “One more shop, then lunch OK?” I said, batting my lashes at him. “Fine, but you are paying lunch for you torturing me.” He chuckled. “Deal, now come on.” I said extending my hands to him. He happily took it and I pulled him up. Yes, we had been shopping for three hours but I had only a couple of bags. At least we were not weighed down. We headed over to Macy’s, loved this shop. We do not have one back home. I linked my arm through his as we headed inside. I pulled him over to the denim section. I was looking for some skinny jeans, loved my skinny jeans. And shorts, I need new shorts too and tees. Maybe a couple of summer dresses too. “Are You looking for anything?” I asked Nolan as I looked through the clothes. “Not really. I may get a couple of things. I have enough clothes. I do not need anymore. Plus, with all of your clothes, there won’t be any room for mine.” He said teasing me. “Whatever!” I said sticking my tongue out at him. I do have a lot of clothes and shoes. I just love them. I grabbed a handful of different clothing, heading to the dressing room. I dragged Nolan with me, wanting his opinion. I could rely on him, to be honest with me. I headed into the changing room, stripping down, and pulling the first outfit on. Shorts and a pink crop top. I was confident in my body, always have been. I do not mind showing it off. “What do you think?” I asked stepping out. He looked over me, his eyes falling on my stomach for a moment. There was nothing like that between him and I. He stills steals a little look every now and then. He is male after all. His eyes finally meeting mine. The expression on his face giving me my answer. “Looks good,” he smiled. “Thank you,” I smiled. I headed back, going through the same routine with the other outfits. I think he got to the stage where he was saying yes so, I would be done with shopping. I paid for the items that I took before we headed out. “Finally. I swear I am gonna pass our with hunger.” He said. “Stop being such a drama Queen,” I chuckled “What do you fancy for lunch?” I added. “Taco’s?” he suggested. “Tacos are always good.” I smiled. We headed out finding somewhere that sells tacos. Nolan taking al the bags to the tables while I ordered for us. I knew what he liked, no need for him to tell me. I waited in the cue, waiting for my turn. “Hey, what can I get you gorgeous?” the server smirked as I approached the counter. “Hey,” I said giggling. He was not too bad looking. I was used to guys hitting on me all the time. “Is that your boyfriend you came in with?” he asked. He does not beat around the bush, does he? “No, my best friend.” I said. “That makes more sense. Thought you would be a strange couple.” He laughed. Well, this asshole just blew any chance with me. I glared at him, rolling my eyes. “Meaning?” I said annoyed. “Come on, no offence but look at you, then look at him.” He said shrugging. “No offence but you are an asshole. Can I just place my order?” I snapped. He nodded, not saying another word. I placed my order, grabbing our drinks and headed back to the table. They would bring them over when they were ready. I was pissed by the time I got back. I was very protective of Nolan…of our friendship. “You OK?” Nolan asked as I approach. “Yeah. The guy was an asshole.” I groaned sitting down. “Did he say something to you?” He said glaring over at him, “Do I need to go kick his ass?” he added. “No, he isn’t worth it.” I said, “What did he say?” he asked, “Nothing, it doesn’t matter.” I smiled. I see the change in his face when I said that. He knew what was said. Something about he and I. I never wanted to get into it. He has no confidence as it is. I am not gonna let some asshole make him feel bad. “I guess it was about me. He was wondering why you were with someone like me?” he said, a sadness to his tone. I hate every single person that has ever made him feel this way. “It doesn’t matter. I do not care what other people say and neither should you. He is an asshole.” I said, He nodded, sighing and took a sip of his juice. I knew it was getting to him. “Nolan, I swear see if you don’t get those thoughts out of your head, I am gonna drag you around shopping until the shops close for the day.” I said smirking at him. “You wouldn’t be so cruel?” he pouted, “I will. And I will drag you into Victoria secret and other similar shops.” I said smugly. I knew that would get to him. Yes, we are remarkably close. We share a lot of things but even we have boundaries to some extent. He soon held his hands up, his smile back on his lips. I giggled; it was too easy when it came to him. “You are so mean,” He said petting his lip at me. I reached over, prodding his nose, “You love it,” I laughed. He flipped me off, rolling his eyes and our food came. Thank God, I was so hungry. Shopping was hard work and took a lot of energy. We swapped one of our two tacos, that way we had one of each. “What you wanna do for the rest of the day? Your choice?” I asked taking a mouthful of my taco. “Wanna go watch a movie? Then go for ice cream and milkshakes?” he suggested. “Sounds good,” I smiled, “We may as well enjoy the next few free days cause when classes start, we won’t have time for much.” I added. “Yes, going to be busy.” He said. We ate our lunch, heading back to our apartment. I had to put all my clothes away. “Do you even have room for these clothes?” he laughed as we headed into my bedroom. “If not, will just use your closet, problem solved.” I laughed. “Or you get rid of some of your old clothes.” He suggested. I turned to him, eyes wide and a shocked look on my face. “How dare you tell me to get rid of my babies?” I said shaking my head. He chuckled, rolling his eyes, and walked away, leaving me to it. He knew not to get between me and my clothes. “You want coffee?” he called through. “Yes! Double espresso please.” I called back. He was a man after my own heart, not in a romantic way. He just knew me so well. He knew what I liked and what made me happy. I was easily pleased. I got my things away, before resting down my bed. “I come with coffee and cookies.” He smiled coming over to join me. As I said, he knew me so well. I smiled widely, taking them from him. “This is why you are my best friend. You know how to make me happy.” I said kissing his cheeks. “Yes, yes I do.” He smiled hugging me. I do not need a boyfriend, not when I have him. Well, maybe need another guy for my other needs but except that? Nolan is all I need. “I love you.” I said resting my head on his shoulder. “I love you too,” he said kissing the top of my head. He is gonna be an amazing boyfriend for someone when that time comes. As long as she is good enough for him. She will need to go through me first. Poor girl when that moment comes.
