p o p p y    I was awoken by the obnoxious ringing of my cellphone, my lids opened softly adjusting to my dimly lit bedroom. I groaned rolling onto my back glancing over at my clock seeing that it was exactly two-thirty in the morning. "Just like clockwork," I mumbled to myself reaching over picking up my jet black iPhone 8 plus. I looked at the screen seeing the name that I've been accustomed to for over seven years now.     I slid my finger across the screen answering the call placing the phone against my ear. "Poppy," I heard his raspy call from the other line, I stayed silent. It's been almost a year since we've actually spoken or seen each other, and at this point, I was trying to live my life without him; but I knew I could never escape him, but the question is if I actually do want to escape him. "Poppy?" He called once more.  "It's two-thirty in the morning," I told him.  "I wanted to talk to you." He said rather quietly.  "Well, I don't want to talk to you," lies. Deep down I've been waiting for him to call me. I needed him to tell me how irrational I was being at the time, but he never did. He just left me. He left. "Go talk to your wife." I hissed into the phone before hanging up. I couldn't do this anymore I needed to stop whatever this was. Whatever I had with him, it's gone on for too long and needs to finally come to an end. I've always loved him but I want more. I've always wanted more, but I knew that I could never get that.
