Eyes Like Fire

*Please note that the all caps bold italic statements are those of Legion, while the ones that are just italic are Addeline's own thoughts* The night air was sticky, causing Luka's shirt to cling to him as he walked. He hated the summer, from the bugs, to pollen, to the suns constant death beam. The nights were worse, how was it still so hot when the sun was gone? "Of course my damn car would get a flat." He huffed to himself. It was 1 AM, he was stranded and Shelly wasn't answering her phone. He huffed in the air, out of frustration. I KNEW I should have went home right after work Luka thought in frustration. He was never the type to party. His schedule was so straight laced, he could calculate down to the minute how long something would take, and where he needed to be. Many teased him for it, but he didn't care. After all, they didn't know why he was the way he was. After months of trying, Shelly had finally convinced him to come out with her and her friends. "Please...I want to show my man off." She whined, using her best baby voice. Luka hated her baby voice even more than he hated summer.  "Fine" He grumbled under his breath in hopes of shutting her up. Fast forward to them being at the club, and Shelly becoming entirely too intoxicated. So much so, she decided to pick a fight. "You're boring...I want to dance!" She screamed in his face. Luka was irritated. He had stepped out of his comfort zone to be there with her, and that still wasn't enough. After a few more hours of being berated, he'd finally had enough and slipped out of the club after being dismissed by Shelly and her friends. Of course as luck would have it, his front tire was completely flattened, making his escape a bit more daunting than he'd hoped it would be.  He sat on the curb with his head in his hands, the club should be letting out soon, he just needed to wait.  BANG Luka's head jerked forward in shock, as pain shot through him. He reached behind to the back of his head, his eyes widening as his fingers returned covered in blood. He turned to find a large masked man behind him, with a gun in his hand.  "I really thought hitting you with that would have knocked you out...too bad." The man huffed out at him. He aimed the gun at him, and Luka's blood ran cold. "I'm only going to ask once...give me your wallet." Luka's life flashed before his eyes. He'd still had so much left to do. He was only 23, a virgin, hadn't achieved any of the things on his list. He shakily reached towards his pocket, handing over the wallet.  "Thank you." The assailant taunted as he snatched it from his hands. "Close your eyes." Luka didn't want to. He knew exactly what would come next. Still, he did what he was told. He didn't want to see the bullet flying towards him either. The taste of blood filled his mouth as he felt the butt of the gun crash against his face. Blow after blow, Luka felt his body weaken as he took the beaten from the gun, and the guys foot. "AHHHHHH!" He could hear his attacker scream, but he could hardly open his eyes. A loud crunch and then silence permeated his ears. What was happening? Luka tried to open his eyes, but he was breathless, his face and body completely sore.  "Hey...I'm going to get you out of here." A small voice interrupted his thoughts. Luka felt the world caving in on him, he knew he was going to pass out. "Shelly?" He managed to say before completely losing consciousness. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------                                                                 --Addeline POV-- ARE WE GOING TO HEAL HIM? I rolled my eyes at Legion's intrusion. "I didn't want to help him in the first place." I respond sarcastically. I hated when she pushed through my thoughts, hated when she made me do things I didn't want to do. WE COULDN'T JUST LET HIM DIE "Yeah I know." I grumble back as I look down at the human, his head resting on my chest. He'd taken quite a beaten, his bronze skin stained with his own blood. I didn't want to feel sorry for him, but I couldn't help it.  I reach into his wallet finding his identification card, and scan for his home address. "We will heal him." I mutter out loud before vanishing with him into the darkness.  We arrive to his home within seconds, and I allow his body to drop to the floor. I scan the area making sure no one else is there, and much to my surprise I can tell he lives alone.  LET'S PUT HIM ON THE BED "Fine" I nod into the air before using much of my weight to lift him. He towers over me, and is a lot heavier than I originally estimate.  Thank God for those training classes with dad and uncle Rams I think to myself while pushing him onto the bed. I search for the bathroom, finally locating it and turn on the light.  "Well shit." I say under my breath. This is neater than my own. Nothing is out of place, all the way down to the toothpaste cap.  HMM CONTROL FREAK MAYBE? I had to laugh at that. I grab a washrag, wetting it with warm water, and fill more water in a nearby bowl, before quickly returning to his side. I slowly wipe the blood off his mouth, and take in his features. His chiseled cheekbones are lined with very small amount of stubble, and I can't help but wonder what it would feel like rubbing against my own face. I rinse out the cloth, and work on his neck, he stirs a bit slightly, and I can hear him groan from pain.  His ribs are probably bruised He'd been kicked in them repeatedly. I cut his shirt, and tilt my head surprised yet again.  LOOKS LIKE THE CONTROL FREAK WORKS OUT I stifle a laugh. I had to admit, I definitely was impressed. I run my tongue against my bottom lip, completely enthralled by the way his skin looked as he breathed slowly.  Snap out of it Addeline I curse under my breath, and close my eyes. I feel my power shoot through me to my hands, as I work to heal his wounds. When I open my eyes, everything on him is back to normal, and I sigh in relief. I need to get out of here before he wakes, I know that, but I can't stop looking at him. He looks so peaceful as he sleeps. His eyes flutter and slowly open, and my heart sinks to my shoes. He stares at me, his blue eyes like the clearest ocean water. He looks down at my hands still placed on his chest, and I quickly remove them. A small blush creeps onto his face. "Are you alright?" My voice is more hoarse than usual. I'm nervous, but I don't know why. He doesn't speak, but just continue to stare at me, and after a moment, I try again. "Hey...are you okay?" "...Eyes like fire." He says finally, causing me to raise my eyebrow. "Your...your eyes...they're like fire." He sits up and pushes his body closer to mine, and I can feel my breath hitch. He caresses my face with his hand.  "Wow...you're....wow"  He voice is low, but his eyes never leave me. I know I should pull away, I know the magic has put him in a lucid state, and he's not completely aware of everything that's happening. Still, I allow his hand to linger, it leaving burning embers in it's place when he does remove it.  "You were attacked." I begin. "I saved you and bought you home." His face scrunches into horror as he slowly recalls what happened. "I remember." He said lowly, his hands jolting up to his face. "But I feel fine." His statement was more like a question, and he looked to me for clarification. I couldn't tell him the truth. Couldn't let him know I healed him. I could see the panic rush to his face. "I don't understands...What's happened to me?" His blue pools pried mine for answers. My throat tightened. I couldn't tell him. He could never know. I grabbed his face into my hands, the stubble tickling my fingers.  "Please...tell me what hap-" I stop his sentence short, as I cover his lips with mine.
