Chapter One

~Tyler~ "Dad, did I ever tell you how much you're ruining my life?" I sat with my arms crossed on the chair across from him. My winter boots tied up, and my Columbia: Omni Heat jacket tightly zipped up. My hat sat loosely on top of my brown hair. I was waiting for my fiancé to come to get me. I've never actually met him. My dad had sold me off when I was little, engaging me to marriage to the Alpha of the biggest pack in the world, aside from the Alpha of the Alphas. "Yes sweetheart, ever since I told you that you were leaving." Oh, yea. He's making me move in with him. I hate my fiancé already; he sickens me. Anyone I talk to about him, tells me that he's cold and rude. That he doesn't have any respect for any women. "Well, I'm just reminding you how much I hate you." My voice dripped with venom. I was angry with my father for selling me like some toy. It wasn't fair. "I know that's how you feel, but it's for the good of the family and the pack." "By selling me to a stranger. Oh yeah. Good." I sneered. My ears perked to the sound of a car pulling into the driveway. I heard a door slam, and then footsteps hitting the slippery sidewalk. I didn't have much to take with me, my stuff had been sent over there already. I just had my bag. A knock on the door sent my mom to scurry to the door. "Come in, it's freezing out there." I heard a muttered thank you, and clomping footsteps into the living room. "Tyler, this is Xavier. He's the one you're getting married to." I took a deep breath and the most amazing sent hit my nose. Woods, forest, and cologne. My wolf was trying to come out, and I knew that meant one thing. "Mate." We both said at the same time as he entered the house. He growled and cursed under his breath. "Well, you two should be a very happy couple. Well considering you're mates and all." My father patted Xavier on the back and that snapped the intense stare session. I looked down at my shoes and moved my toes together. My parents talked with my "mate", and I stayed quiet. "We should go." His voice sent shivers through my body, and I nodded, not meeting the gaze that I knew was boring holes into the side of my head. I kissed my mother's cheek and hugged her tight. She had tears pooling in her eyes, and my father's arms wrapped around her as soon as I let go. I said goodbye to my father and followed Xavier out to his car. His very expensive car may I add. I buckled up, and he immediately drove away. I knew that Xavier lived a couple of hours north from here, and I was getting colder every few minutes. I didn't trust my voice, but I was so cold. "Can you turn up the heat please?" I said quietly, I knew he would hear me. The bonus of being a werewolf. Xavier didn't answer me but did as I asked. I didn't understand what I did wrong. About an hour passed, and he still hadn't said anything. Finding your mate is rare, you should be loving, and happy. Not ignorant and a jerk. The house wasn't as big as I thought it would be. I thought a pack house was supposed to be massive, especially for the biggest pack in the world. "Where's your pack?" "I live alone. Some have a house for their family, but most live in the pack house down the street." I nodded. He stared at me for a second and then walked out of the living room and into the hallway. "We'll be sharing a room. It's the only room in the house beside the office. Which is right next to the bedroom.”? Xavier went into the kitchen and got a glass of water. I didn't want to share a room with him. If he was going to keep acting like this, then I didn't understand why I was here. He was such a jerk. "Why do you live alone?" I spoke up after a while. "I like it here better where it is quiet. My pack is very loud at times. I can get more work done here." He opened a door to reveal a desk filled with papers and a computer. Filing cabinets and a few chairs were in there too. He gestured to the room next door. "You can unpack your stuff in there, I'll be in my office." My head shook into a nod and I opened the door to the bedroom. The room was pretty normal. Creme colored walls matched the brown comforter on the bed. There were huge windows on each wall with creme colored curtains. It looked like a woman decorated this room. I set my bag down and went into the closet. I saw all of my clothes on one side and Xavier’s on the other. My wolf stirred when I inhaled Xavier's scent. I picked some clothes to wear to bed and set them on it. I needed underwear so I grabbed that and went into the bathroom. All my showering stuff was in there and I wanted to know where all of my makeup and other toiletries were but decided I could find it later. After the hot shower, I dried and put on my bright neon pink matching bra and underwear. Then I realized that my clothes were in the bedroom. "Crap." I opened the door and peered around the room. No one. I sighed in relief and got out of the bathroom only to the door be opened by none other than my mate himself. Xavier took a good look at me and growled. I let him shove me up against the wall. His body heat warmed my half-naked body. He started rubbing against me and then kissed my neck. I moaned when I felt him sucking on my sweet spot. He then trailed his lips, lingering on my jaw. He started kissing the corner of my mouth, and I snapped back into reality. I pushed him off of me and held my oversize shirt over my barely covered body. "What were you doing?!" I screeched. "What YOU doing?! You're the one who didn't have any clothes on!" He spat. I hissed at him and he growled right back. "You will not disrespect me Tyler. I am your mate, fiancé, and Alpha. Do it again, and you will be punished. Are we clear?" He sneered. I glared. "I hate you." I looked into his eyes and saw a flash of hurt and guilt. "But you made yourself VERY clear." Venom laced my words. He didn't look at me then. He just stormed out of the room. I didn't bother with him. After pulling my wavy brown hair up into a high messy bun, I sank into the bed and pulled the covers over my quivering frame. It sure is cold around here. Then I fell into a dreamless sleep. ~Xavier~ Tyler had a beautiful body. The way her curves angled into her body, and her creamy skin. I just wanted to make love to her then and there. But what if it wasn't me that walked in? What if it was my beta? Or even my father; or even a random pack member? My life had enough worries, and now she was one of them. I didn't want a mate. And I only had to be in this marriage because my dad thought she would be a suitable candidate as a Luna. Obviously, he was right, because she was my mate. He hadn't been fair to me though, and he wouldn't let me back out. I had troubles with women in my life, and I never wanted to be with one because of what had happened. It's not easy for one to let go of things that destroyed a piece of you. My brother had called, saying an Alpha meeting was being held, and I needed to come. I had to bring my Luna, and I had to see his Luna. Great. Note the sarcasm.
