Chapter Nineteen
Grizz’s truck came to a screeching halt. If he’d thought he’d gotten an earful from Mrs. Keaton, he was getting a heaping second helping from her daughter. Patty could hardly contain herself on the drive over to the hospital.
“I assaulted him?”
Patty stomped her foot against the floorboards of the truck. Hard enough that for a moment, Grizz thought the vehicle might break. He sped up after the light went green and took a left turn.
“He kissed me.” Patty jabbed a thumb at her chest.
“I know, sweetheart.” Grizz slowed even more as he took a right turn into town. He liked the feel of that pet name in his mouth.
Patty turned to him as he paused at a stoplight. “You saw us in the bar, right? I was not giving off any signals.”
“I know, beautiful.”
Grizz let that word rol
