GIFTS BEYOND The next morning, the alarm on my phone blasts my brain far too early. I hit the snooze button twice before finally dragging myself out of bed. Since I slept through two snoozes, I wouldn’t have time for breakfast but maybe I could manage a quick cup of coffee to pry open my eyes. I rush to the kitchen to start the coffee brewing and then head for the shower, yawning, eyes heavy with sleep. I glance outside my window. It’s overcast today, so I check my phone for the weather.
