Chapter 4
Tessa POV
Angela is my best friend. If she can't come back here, I will have to go find her. She had told me all about her old alpha. When she told me her birthday was tomorrow, I was shocked. I wondered why she had never said anything. I will have to ask her why when she comes back. Tec showed up at my dorm, telling me that she wasn't allowed back. There was a warrant out for her, a death warrant, because she burnt her house down and left. So when she called me telling me she was on her way back, I told her what Tec had said. She started laughing and told me what had actually happened. When we hung up, I ran to Tec's office. I ran in there and closed the door. He looked up, surprised to see me there.
"Tessa, I told you to rest up for tomorrow's training. Why are you back here?"
"Teacher Tec, you have to listen to me," that's when I told him everything that Angela had told me. He looked shocked, then did a few things on the computer, then looked back up at me.
"Tessa, she can't come back here. Alpha Roman will find her here and kill her. I have contacted several packs, letting them know if they see her to help her. You need to hurry and call her and let her know."
"But sir, tomorrow is her birthday. She has six hours before she is newly shifted. She's going to need help."
"I'm sorry, Tessa, but she can't. He will destroy this place if he finds her here." I sighed, thinking I'm going to hate this, but I had to do it. I had to be there for her when her shift happened. She will need help.
"Teacher Tec, I hereby forfeit my warrior training. I'm leaving right now. You can do whatever you need to do with my things, but I have to be there for Angela," he looked up at me, smiling from ear to ear.
"You go be with her. I heard nothing that just came out of your mouth. I will let your alpha know what's going on. He will understand. Once this is all over, I want both of you back here. I give you several months to clear her name, and if you need my help, then call me. But you need to leave now. She doesn't have much time. Now go," I ran out the door toward my car. While I was driving down the road, I knew I had to gas up. So, I stopped at the gas station, and then I called Alpha Austin. He told me he had already heard from Tec to hurry up and find her, and if there is still time, to bring her there so she will have a pack to help her. After I got off the phone with the alpha, I called her.
"Angela, where are you? You can't come back here, but my alpha wants me to bring you to the pack so you can shift in safety."
‘I'm in North Carolina right now. It's going to take me three hours to get there, two if I speed it up. Then, I will have two hours before my shift unless Bella decides to make me shift right now. I feel like my whole body is on fire. I don't know if I can hold on much longer. Damn it, why does she have to be so far away? I mindlinked my alpha and told him where she was and what she was driving. He said he could help. He was in North Carolina for a meeting. Tell her to stop, pull over on the side of the road, and I will find her. Do it now, Tessa.
‘Angela Sweetie, my alpha is there in that town. He told me to tell you to pull over on the side of the road. He will find you; he's looking for you now. Come on, talk to me.’
‘It hurts, Tessa. I'm trying to tell Bella to wait. There's no one on the road, so I'm pulling over right now.’
‘Just stay on the phone with me. I'm trying to get to you as well, but the alpha will get to you first. I'm an hour away. Just take a deep breath. Don't get out of the van until he gets there. Come on, take a breath, Angela. You can do this. I was so scared for her. I've shifted, and I remember the first time I did. It was so painful. I felt like I could die when it was happening, but I was so thankful that my pack was there. My bones broke so they could shift the right way. My face bulged out, and my hair grew all over me. It took hours because I was trying to fight it. But once I let it happen, it still hurt, but not so bad. It's going to take me an hour to get to her. s**t, s**t, s**t.
‘Alpha, are you close? Can you scent her?’ It took a second, but I knew he was in wolf form when he linked me back. I could always tell when someone was in wolf form.
‘Yes, Tessa, I can scent her. She is about twenty yards away. Tell her to stay calm and breathe. I'm almost there.’
‘He's twenty minutes away. Just breathe. Come on, breathe, Angela. I heard a blood-curdling scream. s**t. I knew it was happening. I sped up. I was trying not to wreck while I linked the alpha again.
‘It's happening, sir. You won't make it.’
‘Never doubt your alpha, Tessa. I hear her screaming. Tell her I'm close.’
‘He's close by, honey. Come on, tell Bella to hold on. The alpha is almost there. I promise he is.’
