Chapter 26Renee's bodyguard lurked nearby while I sat on the couch. He glanced at his boss and c****d his head sideways. “I'll wait in the other room. Mind if I grab a glass of water, Mr. Ayrwick?”
Puzzled, I let out an obnoxious laugh. “Since you've already broken in and threatened me, why bother asking? Just take what you want. Then you can add theft to the growing list of crimes.”
Renee removed her sunglasses and pinched the bridge of her nose. Both of her eyes were swollen and red-rimmed. “I assure you, neither he nor I killed your uncle and Giovanni.”
“If that's so, why are you hiding in my house?” I leaned back and crossed my legs, relaxing enough to presume I wasn't next on their hit list.
