Chapter 14

Hope’s Pov:- 

I was sitting with Axel and Lana in the cafeteria, it was break time. After class, I quickly slipped from the class through the crowd and tried my best to hide from Dakota. I don’t want him to hover over me all the time. 

“I will text you as soon as I complete it,” I replied to Lana as she was asking me about the English assignment which should be submitted by the end of this week. 

“Thanks, hon,” she smiled at me, 

“Why don’t you join us?” Axel asked while having his drink, 

“I can’t… My mom wants me to come home soon since she invited our uncle and aunt to dinner,” She said, 

“Oh…” He replied, 

As I was listening to them, I heard someone pulling the chair out beside me and I looked at them and rolled my eyes when I saw Blade sitting down. I noticed Lana’s confused face and Axel’s questing look, I glanced at Blade and saw him staring at Axel with a calm expression on his face. 

“What are you doing here?” I whispered to him while glaring at him, he just casually sat there and turned his head to me, “What do you mean why I’m here?... Am I not allowed to sit here?” he asked. 

“Blade…” I tried to say something but he cut me off,

“What are you doing after college?” he asked, I glanced at Axel and Lana before answering him, 

“I have work,” I replied, 

“What work?” He asked with his eyebrows furrowed, suspicion was evident in his face. 

“I…” 

“Dude, What do you want?” Axel asked with an annoyed expression on his face, “Why do you wanna know about her work?”

“I’m talking to her…. Not to you!” he replied while gritting his teeth, 

Before Axel could answer him I turned to him and replied, “Axel’s helping me with the assignments after college,” I glanced at Axel, “I’ll be at the library,” I added. 

I know exactly why he was asking me all these questions, he wanted to make sure I don’t reveal anything to anyone. I have to make them believe me, I don’t have any other choice.

As Blade sat beside me, there was awkward silence around us. Every single pair of eyes in the cafeteria were on us and it was completely uncomfortable. As break time ended, Lana and Axel walked to their classes, but Blade followed me to mine, 

“Don’t you have any classes?” I asked, annoyed.

“I’m walking to one,” he replied, I glanced at him in surprise, “Yes… we have two classes together,” he said looking at my surprised face. 

“You know… You and Dakota have three same classes together,” he said which made me stop in my tracks and stare at him. 

“What!” I exclaimed in shock, 

“Yes,” he replied, 

“Oh god,” I groaned while rolling my eyes.

The bell ran indicating the end of the last class, I began packing my bag while glancing at Blade. I stood up while throwing my bag over my right shoulder, 

“Are you going to follow me to the library as well?” I asked while walking out of the classroom, 

“Yep… but if you don’t want me then I can ask Dakota to accompany you,” he said, making me glare at him. 

“Blade, please try to understand… I don’t want you guys to follow me everywhere, please,” I requested, 

He stared at me for a while and sighed, “Fine,” he breathed out, “I don’t know about Dakota but… I will not follow you… don’t make me regret it,” he said, hearing his words a huge smile formed on my face, I quickly nodded my head at him, “Thank you,” I replied. 

He smiled at me and turned around, I watched him walk away and made my way to the library. As I entered the library I saw Axel sitting at the corner bench alone, I walked towards him and sat next to him while placing my bag beside me. 

“Hey,” he greeted me with a smile on his face, 

“Hey,” I greeted back while taking my book out of my bag, 

“Hope, I want to ask you something!” he said while placing the pen on the book and turning to me, 

“Yes?” I asked while opening my notebook, 

“What’s with Blade, Is he bullying you?” he asked with a serious expression, 

“No…” I replied, 

“Are you sure?” He asked, 

“Yes, he just wants to be my friend that’s it…” I said while trying desperately to find that I was lying. 

“Remember, you can tell if you have any problem… Whatever it is!” he said while taking my hand in his, I smiled at him and nodded my head at him. 

“Okay… Shall we begin?” he said while pulling my notebook.

After completing the assignment I placed my things inside my bag and made my way to the parking lot, Axel opened his car door for me but before I could get in someone caught my arm and pulled me back. 

“You’re coming with me,” Dakota said with a serious expression on his face, 

“Dude, She’s coming with me,” Axel argued, “What’s your problem, Earlier your brother decided to follow her and now you…” He said while stepping in front of him. 

“Stay away from her,” he said while standing tall in front of Dakota, they both were glaring at each other. There were silent arguments going on in between them and the air was tense, I had to interfere. 

“Axel… it’s okay, I will call you as soon as I go home,” I said while getting in between them, “I have to go with him,” I said while pleading him to back down with my eyes, confusion was written all over his face but he didn’t anything and just nodded his head at me. 

I smiled at him and turned back, I stared at Dakota who was glaring at Axel, “Dakota,” I called, he moved his eyes away from him and looked down at me. Without saying a word he turned around and began walking towards his car, I quietly followed him behind. 

Jesus, It’s getting harder than I thought. I thought as he opened his car door for me to get in, I glanced back at Axel who was standing there and watching me. I smiled at him before getting in the car and putting my seat belt on. 

I have to talk to Dakota and convince him to stop doing this, I just can’t keep lying to my only friends. Blade and Dakota’s behaviours are drawing attention and a lot of questions are raising, I just can’t handle this.
