Original Heirs

Chapter 9

Hope’s Pov:- 

I turned around and there’s no one around, I looked around and nobody was there but I could still feel someone was watching me. I tried brushing it off and took my bag and walked out of the library. I want to go home and take a rest but I know I can't forget what happened in the washroom. If I keep myself busy with work I may forget what happened between me and Dakota. 

I walked towards the parking lot and saw Lana talking to Axel, from where I was standing I could clearly see Lana trying to explain to Axel what happened back in the library. I sighed and walked towards them, noticing me walking to them Lana smiled in my way. I stood in front of Axel, who was looking away from me and It was clear he’s still angry.

I sighed and took hold of his hand, “I’m sorry,” I said looking at him, he was still not looking at me. Sometimes he’s hard to talk to, I grabbed his chin gently and moved his face so that he could look at me, he glared at me but didn’t remove my hand. I smiled at him and stared at him, I know he can’t resist my smile, “I’m sorry,” I said while I kept smiling. 

Slowly his face expressions changed into normal, he sighed before saying, “I… was worried, I know I shouldn’t push you,” he said with an apologetic face expression. 

“Thank god,” Lana said and wrapping her hands around us suddenly made me stumble onto Axel, we chuckled while hugging each other. 

“Okay, Okay,” Axel said while chuckling loud, we stepped back and Lana said, “I hate it when you two fight like kids,” she said looking at me and Axel with an irritating expression on her face, I was smiling at them, and suddenly I felt someone’s gaze on me and turned around. I found Dakota watching me with a blank expression on his face while leaning his back to the front of his car with his hands inside his jeans pockets. 

I swallowed hard as I noticed his penetrating stare, “Grow up,” Lana said making me turn to her,  Axel chuckled at her comment.

“Okay, I have to go,” Axel said, he turned to me, “Come, I will drop you,” he said and I found myself nodding my head. I just want to get away from Dakota and hide myself from his eyes. 

“Bye then,” Lana said while hugging us and walking to her car, Axel opened his car door for me and I climbed inside. I could still feel his gaze on me, Don’t look at him, Hope, Don’t look, Don’t look and I looked at him, he has an angry expression on his face which confused me, he was staring at me while clenching his jaw and his eyebrows furrowed in anger and a nerve popped on his forehead. 

I gulped and looked away, Axel started the engine and drove us off. 

What’s his problem? Why is he behaving with me like that? He doesn’t even know me! I think I should talk to him and ask what’s his problem...

“Are you okay,”  He asked pulling me out of my thoughts, 

“Yeah,” I replied with a smile, 

“Are you sure? You can share with me whatever it is bothering you,” he said while keeping his eyes on the road. 

“I was just… thinking about the assignments,” I lied while looking outside the window. 

He chuckled and said, “Give it a break, Hope, Don’t stress about them,” he replied and I just smiled and kept quiet until we reached my home. 

He stopped the car in front of my home, “Bye,” he said while I was unbuckling the seat belt, I smiled at him, “Bye,” I replied and got out of the car. I walked towards the main door and opened it, I turned back and saw Axel waving his hand at me, I smiled and waved back while stepping inside.

I closed the door as he drove away and walked to the kitchen, I took a water bottle and drank it whole. I glanced outside the window and saw that it was raining, I sighed while filling the water bottle and placing it inside the fridge. I walked to my bedroom and placed my bag on the table, I took a hot shower and changed my clothes into something comfortable. I sat down and began doing the assignment.

I heard the calling bell and stood up from the chair, I walked downstairs, towards the main door. I peeped through the hole and saw dad standing while shivering terribly. I quickly opened the door, “Dad!” I said while looking at him. 

He stepped inside followed by my mom, both were shivering, “Oh god,” dad said while placing his bag on the couch. I quickly bought towels for both of them, “Thank you, dear,” My mom said while taking them and handing one over to my father. 

“I’ll make coffee for you both,” I said while walking towards the kitchen,

They both walked into their bedroom, while began making coffee for them. They both came back into the living room and sat on the couch while I placed the cups on the tray. I walked towards them, they were now dressed in different clothes, “Thanks hon,” My dad said while taking his cup. 

“Thank you, baby,” My mom said while taking her cup, I placed the tray on the coffee table and sat beside them while taking my cup.

“Hm… you make most amazing coffee,” My dad complimented,  

“Thanks, Dad,” I replied and took a sip of my coffee. 

“How’s college going on,” my mom asked, 

“Good,” I smiled at her, 

“Tell us more,” My dad asked while curiosity twinkled in his eyes, I chuckled and began telling them about Lana and Axel and my assignments. We talked about my parent’s college life and their friends. Time seems to flow faster when I’m with my parents, I love them a lot and my day goes incomplete without them and our small talks. 

“Okay, I’m going to make dinner,” My mom said while getting up from the couch, 

“I will help you,” My dad said while getting up, 

“I have to complete my assignment, I’m going to my room,” I said while getting up and walking towards my room.

“I will come to you when dinner is ready,” My mom said while placing the empty cups on the tray.  

“Okay, mom,” I replied while climbing the stairs. I walked inside my room and pulled the chair out, I was about to sit down but a cold breeze hit me making me shiver. I sighed and walked towards the window, I pulled the curtains and was about to close the windows but something caught my eyes. 

I pushed the window for a clear picture, something was moving in the woods, our house was surrounded by the woods and not more houses were around us. The wind was making it hard for me to see what it was, but I didn’t give up and I saw it. Same eyes, from the shadows, beautiful Amber eyes sparkling under the moonlight, glowing beautifully in the darkness, in the middle of the woods. 

I gulped when I saw what it was, it’s black fur shone like the sea at night, it was a huge black wolf which was staring right at me. Those beautiful amber eyes looking right into mine made me freeze in place, I could see it revealing it’s sharp teeth and then letting out a low rumbling growl. 

I gulped hard and watched him turn around and disappear in the woods, I placed my hand over my chest, What did I just saw?
