AUTHOR’S NOTE
Dear Reader,
Fair Warning: In this book, the cliff doth hang until the next installment, Rapunzels and Powers.
I am so freaking sorry, I can’t even. This series is totally kicking my ass. The world building and character arcs are both numerous and intense. Sure, I could cram it all into one volume, but that’s not an option, as shown by this actual conversation between Business Me and Writer Me…
Business Me: Let’s finish up Rapunzel already. We’ve been waiting years for Avianna (aka the evil queen from Snow White) to get her story. In fact, poor little Avie was featured in chapter one of WOLVES AND ROSES—that’s the first book of this series. Waaaaah!
Writer Me: What an interesting idea, but no, no, a thousand times, no. We must close out Grayson’s character arc in terms of her relationship with Dex… as well as her own personal growth vis-à-vis her magical powers. That can’t get shoved into a single book.
Business Me: Tough. Do it anyway.
Writer Me: [Spends two days surfing the web and reworking the same paragraph.]
Business Me: What’s your problem? YouTube videos and four lousy sentences describing Dex’ abs are not a great use of time. We have deadlines, babe.
Writer Me: You know what I need.
Business Me: Ugh, fine. I’ll split up the book and write an author’s note.
Writer Me: At last. Once you’re done, go get me some iced sugar cookies and a mocha from Starbucks.
Business Me: I hate you sometimes.
Writer Me: You can always return to corporate America…
Business Me: Grande or Venti?
There you have it—the inner workings of my somewhat fractured mind. I truly appreciate your patience as I work things through.
And without further blabbity-blah, here’s the story!
