With little learned from Monk and De Kuyper, and as he waited for the warrant to arrive to complete his second search of the Alexandra Rose's cargo hold, as Ross had expected, it was indeed the return of Arthur Bryant and Giles Pearce that eventually gave him and his team the impetus to begin piecing the case together. After catching the first available flight back to the UK, Bryant and Pearce lost no time in making their way from Heathrow airport, in a fast BMW saloon hired by Pearce, to police headquarters in Canning Place, Liverpool.
