Wincing, Kez sat up and brushed some hair out of her face. “Okay,” she grunted. “I remember that one.” Taking Cassi’s hand, she allowed the other woman to pull her back onto her feet.
“Now you try.”
When Cassi threw a punch, Kez was able to successfully execute the move, although – and maybe this was just her personal bias – it seemed to her that she wasn’t nearly as graceful in doing it. They drilled that a few more times and then switched to a leg hold.
Kez’s low roundhouse kick was stopped when Cassi hopped back and caught her ankle. For the briefest fraction of a second, she thought she might be able to pull free, but then the other woman wrenched her leg and left her face-down on the floor. It took a few tries to get that one right. Cassi was quick and slippery.
