The following morning, Helgha took the raspberry and clover tea to the Hall. As she entered, she looked around, remembering the time after Ælfleda had been born. Lord Ædmunde had held her hand here. Her stomach did its usual somersault when she remembered his touch.
Lady Rowena approached her. “Oh, Goodwife Helgha, you"ve arrived. I assume you"ve brought something to help with Lady Gytha"s little problem. The poor girl is beside herself with anxiety. She is so desperate to give Lord Ædmunde an heir.”
Helgha held out the pot containing the tea. “She’s to drink it four times a day. Tell the Thegn to come and get more when that"s finished. It contains raspberry leaves and red clover. I"ve mixed them as they both seem to help, and the two together might be more powerful.”
