12. Jordan -Regrets

For the past six weeks, I have been living in pure agony not having Rain with me. There is not a single day that I don’t go out and look for her, hoping, praying to the Moon Goddess to let me find my mate so I can bring her home. I am sure she is in Caleb Black’s territory, but without any kind of proof, the Werewolf Council is not willing to grant me access to his territory. And not only that, if rumors are true, the Queen of the Druid Witches is very fond of Caleb, her spells protecting his pack. Even so, I won’t give up until Rain is back where she belongs—with me.

‘Have you forgotten that you rejected her?’ Titan snarls in my head. ‘Because of you, I lost my mate. You robbed me of the chance of being with Safia and having pups!’

‘I will fix it!’ I try to reassure Titan, but he is having none of it.

‘Fix? Fix what? How many times has Ben assaulted her? Or how you threw her out of the pack without giving her a chance to speak? Or to defend herself.’

My eyes go to her phone. I watch the last two videos she recorded each morning and night, not wanting the rage I feel for my—Ben—to diminish. Dan and Victor were not able to find him, but I have alerted the Council of what he did, and Enforcers are looking for him. And when he is found, I will kill him.

‘Fix the bond. Rain did not reject me. We still have a chance with her.’

‘We will be lucky if she lets us speak. Not that you deserve any consideration from her after what you have done.’

‘I know I f****d up. Right now, let’s focus on finding her.’

‘When we find her, you will treat her like the queen she is.’

‘I will,’ I promise.

I start working on the monthly reports when someone knocks on the door.

“Enter,” I say, not lifting my eyes from my laptop. The door opens, lavender scent reaches my nose. “What do you want, Ruth? Don’t you see I am busy?” I snap, still not looking at her.

Ruth closes the door. “We need to talk.”

I sigh and lean back in the chair. “Fine.”

She sits across from me and looks around for a few minutes. “I like the new office.”

After I learned what truly happened, what my father did to Rain, I could not use the same office he once did. With the help of Dan and Victor, I moved it to another room, the old one being locked for the moment. Kevin is still angry at me, and after learning he is in love with Rain and that he no longer wants to be my Beta, I asked Victor to take that role, to which he agreed. While Dan and Victor are helping me with the pack, Kevin leaves each morning to search for Rain and returns close to midnight to eat and sleep and then to repeat. Around noon I join him for a few hours before I return to the pack. Right now, I should be out there with Kevin, but Ben did so much s**t in the time he was Alpha, the pack is on the verge of bankruptcy.

“If you came to talk about the office, you can leave,” I say and resume my work.

After a few moments of silence, Ruth sputters, “I am pregnant.”

Blood rushes to my ears. “You are what?”

“Pregnant. And it’s yours.”

‘You f****d Ruth? And when?’

I put my elbows on the desk and start rubbing my temples with the tips of my fingers. ‘After I rejected Rain. I wasn’t thinking straight and….’

‘You f*****g i***t! Not only did you cheat on our mate, but you got her cousin pregnant?! How will Rain forgive us now? I f*****g hate you!’

“Are you sure it is mine?” I ask Ruth.

While Omegas can get pregnant only when they are in heat, the other females can get pregnant even if they are not in heat.

She looks offended. “Just because I invited you to my room doesn’t mean I am a slut. That role belongs to—”

I slam my fist on the desk. “Don’t you dare say a bad word about my mate!” I snarl.

“You are better off without her. She was sleeping with your father—”

I slam my fist on the desk once more. “What did I say about not speaking ill about my mate?”

“Fine,” she huffs. “Regardless of who your mate is, we are having a pup.”

“If you expect me to marry you and have you as my companion just because we are having a pup, you are wrong, Ruth. I will step in and do my role as a father, but that’s all. Once I find Rain, I will bring her back, and she will be the new Luna of the pack. And the mother of my pups.”

How the hell did I f**k up so badly? A pup with Ruth?

‘If you had kept it in your pants, where it belonged, you would not be having this conversation with Ruth right now.’ Titan is so angry I am starting to have a headache. ‘Maybe we are lucky, and it is not yours. You are not the only one Ruth slept with. If I am not mistaken, Victor and her often sleep together. ’

‘I will have a conversation with Victor later.’

“If you don’t marry me, then I will move to another pack, and you are never going to see your pup,” Ruth starts to threaten me.

“Fine. I will deposit child support into your bank account once the pup is born. If he is mine.”

“I can’t believe you!” Ruth whines. “You got me pregnant, and now you are rejecting our son and me?”

“Look, I never wanted to get you pregnant in the first place. Sleeping with you was a mistake. I am not rejecting you because you mean nothing to me. As for our pup, as I said, I will pay child support. But that’s everything I am willing to do. And to be sure the pup is mine, I will want a DNA test done.”

Ruth blinks a few times. “A DNA test?”

“Scent tests on a newborn are not one hundred percent accurate.”

Most of the time, a male can recognize his pup by scent, but there are times when scent tests can be wrong. In that case, a DNA test can be asked to appease the mind of the father.

Ruth folds her arms over her chest. “You can have your stupid DNA test! That will show that I am not lying.”

“How can I be sure of that? After all, Victor sleeps in your room more than he sleeps in his own.”

“The last time I slept with Victor was two months ago.”

Hi everyone. I know I've been absent a lot these weeks, but I've been burned out by another book I wrote during this year, but I am happy to say that I am almost back to normal.

That being said, I will try to retake the normal update schedule.
