Callahan pov

This was nerve racking, it's only a few more days before the royal ball my mother has been in the main hall for three days now making sure everything was suited for our liking, we had to build on because she wanted it bigger, so i had the builders build onto the hall, than i decided to just put a few large canopies so people can stand underneath them so they could enjoy the fresh air, tables and chairs were under them so they could sit and chat if they wanted to. I don’t know why but she wanted balloons in the hall. i think they would just be in the way and people would just pop them to get them out of the way, photos were on the walls of Alphas and their lunas, we had mini bars in every corner and even outside under the canopy. we will have food of all sorts even deer meat, rabbit, boston butt, fish, shrimp and all sorts of pork and beef, including three different salads, and chicken, we will have a glass fountain of wine falling into glasses, i don't know why, but that's what we are going to do, I was a nervous reck. Taylor will be here in just a few days, i'm still not sure what the hell i'm going to say to her. Mom keeps asking me what i'm going to do. i don't have a clue what im going to do when i see her, My cat Bane keep purring and saying that he is wanting to mark her when he sees her, i'm not sure if she will even get near us enough to do such a thing, just a few more days than the royal ball will begin, i had ten packs coming here on royal ground to see if they can find their mates, werebears, werewolves, werecats maybe even were birds, yes there are bird shifters, they are not many left but they are here. I was trying not to think about things when Tatter came into the office, I wondered what he wanted, i knew he was one of the guards that would go out and run the grounds for a few hours, something tells me i'm not going to like what he had to say.

“My king, i need to speak with you about a few things, may i sit down?” i watched him sit down on one of the chairs that was in the office, he made me wonder what he wanted to say to me, he looked guilty about something, what the hell did he do,

“Alright Tatter whats going on, what did you do?” i watched as he fiddled with his hands than looked back up at me, than he said something to me that was agaisnt mate laws, and trust me if my mom didn’t walk into the room when she did i would had killed him,.

“Sir, I cheated on my mate. i think she knows, i was running the grounds on my shift i have another mate sir, but i rejected her after i slept with her, she didn't want to be my mate, she said since i already had a mate to just reject her, but i needed her right there, i took her in the woods, than i rejected her, I know Susy felt my betrayal, when i came home she was on the floor in pain, i tried to tell her that i was faithful i didn't do anything, but i'm not sure she would believe me.” i jumped out of my chair so fast I grabbed him by his throat slamming him to the wall, i was choking the life out of him.

“Do you realize what you have done you stupid son of a b***h, you betrayed your mate, you slept with someone that claimed to be your other mate then you rejected her after you had s*x with her, you used that poor girl than dropped her like a hot pancake,” Tatter was turning purple he couldn’t breath,

“Callahan put that boy down right now and called Susy in here right now, give him a chance to explain, Callahan do what i tell you to do son, come back to me,” I heard my mothers voice. I heard her calming tone toward me, she knew I was losing it with all the stress that has been going on,. i was about to kill someone, i let go of Tatter, he fell to the floor coughing trying to catch his breath, he didn't get up from the floor until Susy came into the office, she was pale in the face when she saw her mate on the floor, she walked beside him she was trying to help him up, once she had him sit in the chair she stood beside my mother,

“Tatter, i knew what you did the day you came home, I felt the betrayal, not to mention when you left the morning for work she called me telling me all about it, she told you she was your mate she said she wanted you to reject her because you already had a mate but instead you took her in the woods afterwards you rejected her, do you really think i was going to stay with you after you done this, you betrayed me and used her, This can not be a bond between us anymore. im sorry but im going to reject you, maybe i have a second chance mate. but i will not be with someone that cheated on me, than tried to lie about it. I Susy rejects you Tatter as my mate for life,” I watched as she had pain in her chest, Tatter looked at her pleading for her not to do this, but at the end he accpected the rejection.

Susy you can have your old room back. noone has been in there, i will have someone go to Tatters house to grab your things, Tatter you are here by stripped of your title of guard,”

“No my king, let him still be a guard that he had not betrayed you or the kingdom, at least let him keep his job,” I nodded at her, she was trying her hardest not to cry from the pain, my mother was holding her up i looked over at him i growled at him he bowed his head submitting,

“You can keep your job as a guard, but you work only two days a week, until you can prove to me that you have changed, you will be watched with everything you do, when you come off your shift you will report back to me with everything you have done, is that clear, You will be band from the royal ball as well. someone will bring you dinner and wine but you are not to come.

“Yes, my king i clearly understand,

“No get out of my office, i do not want to see your face until you are done with your shift today,: He got up bowing his head he ran out of the office, I looked over at Susy she was crying in my mothers arms,

“Susy i’m so very sorry, i didn’t think he would do this but i guess i thought wrong. are you alright.” she cleaned the tears from her face. she then looked at me with a half smile on her face.

“Yes, im okay, it wasn’t meant to be, maybe theres a second chance mate out there for me, who knows, Im just glad that it happened now instead of a year from now.” She hugged my mother bowed to me, than left to go to her room, i felt bad for her, i hope she can find happiness, i do not stand for betrayal in this pack, i looked at my mother,

“Son, you know what needs to be done right? she doesnt want you to strip him from the title of guard, but the punishment of betrayal is death, and she knows this,” i nodded. as i linked a few top guards letting them know what to do he has to go. they linked back letting me know they will handle the problem. the link shut off, my mother was standing there with her arms crossed

“So, are you nervous about Saturday, its the big day?.”
