CHAPTER 9
The post came early in the morning. Una was glad to inform Peytra that the arches and doors did not need to be finished by the time the ball was to happen. Then she handed Peytra the letter addressed to her. Peytra absconded to her room and read the note in secret.
My Dearest Peytra,
I do not know which will reach you first – this letter or myself. We are to leave today, and should all go well, I will be home in two days’ time. I have you to thank for helping us to reach an accord as it was your advice that spurred the two parties to action. It worked brilliantly, and I am extremely grateful.
As for the temperature, I am quite sorry if it is making you miserable. I do have a summer residence in the north that tends to be cooler. It has fallen to disarray from my neglect, but
