Long after Trev left and she’d helped Rosie wash up, Charlotte brooded on the assumption that she’d rush in and interfere with a police investigation. She walked home after hugging Rosie goodnight, stroking Mellow’s soft fur and being hissed at for daring to glance in Mayhem’s direction.
She knew not to intrude. In the past, there’d been good reason for her to take notice of clues and keep notes.
