Cloud Mountain - Chapter 7

Cathy slept until dawn the next day after staying in the palace for the first night. She didn't even have dinner, as if confirming the saying that long journeys exhausted her body. After a good night's sleep, she woke up refreshed. Upon hearing her movement in the room, Elsa entered first, followed by more than ten maids. Just as Cathy was about to speak, her eyes caught sight of a group of people standing in the courtyard outside. Through the window, she saw Roy, the butler of the palace, leading them. She was surprised and asked, "Is that Roy outside? Why did he bring so many people? Has something happened?" Elsa glanced outside and whispered, "Yes, it's Roy. I heard that he brought all the servants to pay their respects to you according to the Prince's orders." She added, "They arrived before dawn and have been waiting outside for an hour." "Hmm?" Cathy took a glance outside. Although she had slept soundly yesterday and hadn't eaten dinner, she didn't consider herself late in waking up. She frowned, "Why did they come so early?" Elsa shook her head, indicating that she didn't know either. Was this the rule of the palace? Cathy looked outside in confusion and directly told the maids inside the room, "Just dress me up simply, I don't like complicated attire." After Cathy was properly dressed, everyone in the room fell silent and their eyes revealed astonishment. They had originally thought that Wendy, the daughter of Beta Jackson, was the most beautiful lady in the Cloud Mountain pack. But now, this simply dressed Cathy was truly no less stunning. It was hard to imagine how breathtaking she would look in formal attire. Once everyone finished tidying up, Cathy walked out of the room with big strides. Without any gentleness, she forcefully pushed open the window and looked at the hundreds of palace servants standing outside the courtyard, each one as still as a stake, not making a sound. She raised an eyebrow at the person standing in front and asked, "Roy, what is this about?" Although Roy and his attendants had been waiting for Cathy for over an hour, there was no sign of impatience on his face. When he saw her come out and inquire, a smile appeared on his face as he respectfully greeted her, "Lady Cathy, I have brought all the palace servants to pay their respects to you, as instructed by His Highness. Please meet them." Cathy frowned and scanned the group. Everyone bowed their heads respectfully. She smiled indifferently and said, "The Prince is being too polite." Upon hearing this, Roy maintained a smile on his face but lowered his body even more and spoke with increased deference. "Prince Alex has instructed me to bring all the palace accounts for your review. From today onwards, you shall have full authority over all internal affairs of the palace as the mate of the Prince." With a wave of his hand, over ten people approached, carrying stacks of account books, respectfully presenting them to Cathy. Cathy's expression immediately changed, and she exclaimed in shock, "What? Say that again." Roy dared not speculate on the meaning behind Cathy's words and calmly repeated his statement. This time, Cathy heard it clearly. After comprehending the words, she was almost furious. Staring at the crowd of people and the piles of account books, her eyes seemed to emit flames, as if she wanted to burn everything to ashes. Her chest heaved for a moment before she squeezed out her words through gritted teeth, "I haven't married him yet. Has the Prince lost his mind?" Upon hearing her words, Roy felt a chill pass through him, and his legs trembled slightly. He didn't dare respond directly and said, "You are the mate chosen by Prince Alex, the future Luna of the Cloud Mountain pack. Although the wedding has not taken place, it is only a matter of time. Since the decree bestowed by the Luna one year ago, we have all followed Prince Alex's orders. You are already honored as the future mistress of the pack. Now that you have moved in, it is natural for you to take charge of the palace." Cathy was on the verge of losing her temper. She glared at Roy, her gaze icy cold. Roy, who had been accustomed to the cold gaze of Prince Alex when he was angry, found it difficult to withstand the murderous look in Cathy's eyes. He quickly lowered his head and cautiously said, "Although the affairs of the palace are complex, I will definitely assist the Lady along with everyone in the palace. Please don't worry." As he spoke, he looked up and saw Cathy's expression worsen. He hurriedly changed his words, saying, "Although there appear to be hundreds of servants in the palace, there are established rules. Despite the seemingly numerous accounts, they are categorized into a few items and are not difficult... to manage." The cold wind above his head made it difficult for him to continue speaking. He had taken on this task yesterday and already felt that it might not be a good one. However, His Highness had given the order, and he dared not object. So he arranged everything last night, working tirelessly until late, ensuring that no mistakes would be made today. But unexpectedly, it was even more challenging than he had imagined. Just after uttering a few words, Cathy's face had already darkened like water, her eyes burning like fire. He felt as if he were suffering in a state of torment between ice and fire, while also being sliced by a blunt knife on top of his head. Considering his age and experience, having served the Alpha first and then following the Prince since his birth, he had been through many things. But now, he felt that he truly couldn't bear it anymore. There were no words, only this oppressive atmosphere that seemed to freeze everyone in the courtyard. Elsa couldn't bear to see it any longer. She walked up to Cathy, tugged at her sleeve, and whispered, "Miss Cathy." Goodness, her lady never gets angry easily, nor does she easily provoke others. It was the first time she became furious when the Luna of the Cloud Mountain pack ordered the marriage to the Moon Lake pack, and today was the second time. Now her rage was fully unleashed, and even Elsa could barely stand it. It's evident that Prince Alex has truly angered her with his actions. She never expected that upon arriving at the palace, after only one comfortable night's sleep, her lady hadn't even thought about how to have fun yet, and the Prince surprised her like this. Just as she entered the palace, still unfamiliar with everything, all the servants and internal affairs were presented before her. It's as if they would tie her up with a rope, telling her that the position of the pack's future Luna is secure and unshakable, no one can take her place. When Cathy heard Elsa softly calling her, she slowly withdrew her gaze from Roy. The weight pressing on Roy's head disappeared in an instant, and he breathed a sigh of relief, feeling grateful to Elsa. He secretly thought, no wonder His Highness spent half of last year dealing with the troubles caused by Lady Cathy. So that's why... He was glad that he had always followed Prince Alex's orders and hadn't dared to neglect Cathy since she entered the pack. Otherwise, as the butler, he wouldn't even know what happened to him if he died. Cathy looked at the terrified Roy and the servants who hated being invisible. After a long while, still, no one uttered a word. Suddenly, her anger faded away, and she chuckled lightly, "Prince Alex is indeed extraordinary. The people of the palace are all impressive."
