Cathy's words were so profound that Roy couldn't figure out what they meant, only that they were unfathomable. But her smile was still a good sign.
After the storm, the sun shone brightly.
Cathy lazily leaned against the window, waved her hand at Roy, and said with a smiling face, "You go and reply to Prince Alex, tell him I don't know how to manage a household. Since I was young, the elders in the Moon Lake pack spoiled me. I only know how to play; besides that, I don't know anything." She added, "I can't even learn it."
Sweat formed on Roy's forehead, and his clothes on his back were already damp. He looked up at Cathy's languid face, adorned with a bright smile, unsure of what to say because she had shut down the conversation.
Unable to manage the household, unable to learn. So... what should be done about these people and the accounts entrusted by the Prince?
He bravely and tentatively spoke, "The Prince went to the council chamber and hasn't returned yet."
Cathy sneered inwardly, not caring at all, and simply smiled at Roy. "Then just tell him when he comes back. It'll be the same."
Roy took a deep breath, worried about how to explain the unfinished task to the Prince. Suddenly, he remembered another matter that Prince Alex had entrusted him with yesterday and quickly said, "Also, the Prince mentioned that Beta Jackson's birthday is approaching, and the palace has not prepared a gift. He requests your arrangement, emphasizing that the gift should neither be worthless nor too valuable."
He felt his throat dry after speaking all at once.
"Hmm?" Cathy wasn't as annoyed as before. Instead, she raised an eyebrow and said, half-smiling, "Beta Jackson's birthday gift?"
Seeing that she didn't immediately refuse, Roy became delighted and hurriedly replied, "Exactly."
Cathy looked at him, pondering over Beta Jackson and his famous daughter. She said with a smile that was hard to interpret, "Speaking of this, I find it strange. Beta Jackson is considered half a mentor to Prince Alex. So he has known Miss Wendy since childhood. Why didn't he choose her to be his mate?"
Roy gasped, feeling that Cathy dared to speak so boldly. But then he thought about the chilling aura she had just almost frozen the palace with. Compared to that, this comment seemed trivial.
This topic had been quietly discussed by many people a year ago, but no one had dared to say it so openly until now.
He coughed and struggled to speak.
Cathy looked at Roy, her smile deepening. "You don't know either? Or do you know but won't say?"
Roy felt a chill run through his body, lowered his head, and said with a bitter face, "I... truly don't know."
Cathy didn't press him further. She glanced around at the people in the courtyard, then changed the subject, casually asking, "Are all the people from the palace here today? Everyone came? Or only the servants?"
Roy secretly breathed a sigh of relief and quickly replied, "Except for the Alpha, Luna and Prince, everyone from the palace is here, including the guards."
Cathy took another look at the crowd and suddenly felt something was amiss. She asked abruptly, "What about the Prince's companions? Where did they all go?"
Roy was shocked.
Cathy looked at him and speculated, "Could it be that when I arrived, the Prince moved them elsewhere?" Although this statement boosted her own status, she couldn't help but give herself credit as the future Luna.
Roy regained his composure and hurriedly said, "To clarify, My Lady, the people you mentioned are not present in the palace."
Cathy was puzzled. "What do you mean? Explain it clearly."
Roy said, "The Prince still doesn't have a female companion."
Now it was Cathy's turn to be shocked. She paused for a moment and blurted out, "As far as I know, he completed his coming-of-age ceremony last year, and his wolf is in heat. What's wrong with him?"
She came here for the beauty in the palace, but if there are no beauties, how can she enjoy her life?
Roy looked at the genuine shock, disbelief, and disappointment on her face. He cautiously said, "His Highness has always been focused on pack affairs and has no time for romantic relationships."
Cathy tilted her head back and looked up at the sky upon hearing his words.
Roy couldn't quite grasp what she was thinking from her expression, and he didn't know what else to say. He was afraid of saying the wrong thing, so if she didn't ask, he didn't dare to say more.
Elsa was also astonished. She never expected that, in such a grand palace, the Prince didn't have a female companion. She fell silent for a moment and looked at Cathy, who seemed deeply depressed, with a twitching eyelid.
After a long while, Cathy withdrew her gaze from the sky and weakly waved her hand at Roy. "I don't know what to give Beta Jackson for his birthday. Along with the previous matter, tell Prince Alex that I'm incapable of handling these things. Don't bother me with such matters."
Roy instantly felt defeated.
Cathy ignored him and turned back into the room, throwing another remark, "Let these people all leave, they can do whatever they want."
After speaking, she had already entered the room.
Roy felt depressed, thinking about the two tasks that Prince Alex had assigned to him yesterday, but he hadn't completed either of them. He could only report to him when he returned. He waved his hand and led the people out of the courtyard.
The servants from the palace came and went without making any noise, leaving in an orderly manner.
After returning to her room, Cathy felt suffocated and wondered if Alex couldn't find a companion. Or was there no woman willing to be with him? That's why he held onto her and refused to let her go? How did she become this unlucky mate?
Elsa looked at Cathy, feeling a bit confused about what happened today.
After a while, breakfast was served. Although there weren't many dishes, each one was exquisitely prepared, just like the breakfast Cathy usually had.
She asked, "Yesterday's lunch was what I usually eat, and today's breakfast is also what I usually have. How come the dishes made by the chef from the palace perfectly match my taste? As far as I know, there should be differences between Cloud Mountain and Moon Lake."
The maid immediately smiled and said, "Prince Alex ordered the recruitment of a chef from Moon Lake two months ago. She prepared both yesterday's lunch and today's breakfast."
"Oh?" Cathy sneered, "He is truly considerate."
After finishing breakfast, Cathy patted Elsa's shoulder, "Let's go, we're going out to play."
"Going out to play?" Elsa looked at Cathy, thinking that it was only their second day in the palace, and it wouldn't be a good idea to go out like this. Especially since the lady just threw a fit, they should take it slow.
Cathy ignored Elsa and walked out of the room.
Elsa hurriedly followed, getting closer to her and whispered, "Miss Cathy, don't forget, we spent all the money we had during our journey to Cloud Mountain. Even if we go out to play, we have no money."
Cathy gently placed her hand on Elsa's face, her voice warm like a spring breeze, and said with a smile, "As long as you're with me, as long as I have these hands, why worry about not having money?"
Elsa understood and instantly paled, taking a step back and shaking her head vigorously. "Miss Cathy, this is the Cloud Mountain pack, and you are now the mate chosen by the Prince. If people find out..."
Cathy snorted and interrupted her, "Enough! If you don't go, I'll go by myself."
Elsa stood still, her face pale, but seeing Cathy already outside the courtyard, she stomped her foot in frustration and angrily chased after her.
