A WEEK LATER… "Rise and shine!" Chloe groaned as someone disturbed her sleep and exposed her face to the morning sun. Almost dejectedly, she opened her eyes slowly to meet Amir's, who was watching her as if she were a thief about to run away with his precious money. "Amir!" She complained and pushed him off with a force that had him kissing the floor in no time. "Jeez, Chloe..." She sat up immediately as she wondered if she had hurt him. "Why are you so violent?" Her teeth clenched, Chloe peered at Amir. "I’m sorry. I didn't mean to." "I was just trying to wake you up," he said as he got off the floor. "By staring hard at me?" she asked with a confused frown. He waved off her question. "Whatever. We have work to do today, Chloe. So get your beautiful ass off that bed." She immediately wore an amused look. "I know my butt is gorgeous. Thank you. But don't say the word ass, it reminds me of a donkey." "Gosh, you are so weird." Amir walked to the end of her bed and watched her from there. "Sebastian found something, and we need your help." "Does it require me to kill someone?" "Of course not." His eyes went dark. "Or would you?" "Nope." She smiled grandly. Amir chuckled. "Be downstairs in thirty." "Yes, sir. Thirty years, you say?" she asked with a face coated with seriousness. "Chloe!" "I will be done in thirty." She got off the bed. "See you," he said as he walked towards the door, a smug look on his face, a swagger in his steps. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dressed in a very comfortable grey coloured pencil gown which had a low turtle neck feature, Chloe felt confident about the day ahead. She walked out of her room feeling rather good. She had closed the door and was about to make for the stairs when her eyes met Nathaniel's from a distance. She felt a loud thud in her head, or maybe it was in her chest. That was the first time she was seeing him after a week of her little illness. Chloe then resumed her walk towards the man who was taking slow strides, her eyes anywhere but on him. When she made it to his side, she wanted to say something. But she did not see the need. So, she just squared her chin and continued her walk, resisting the urge to turn back and look. Soon, she made it downstairs and followed the chatter that was coming from one of the rooms. "Ensure that the shipment makes it here tomorrow. We are all sick of waiting." Amir was saying that to Sebastian, who nodded in response before his head turned to focus on his laptop. "Eh-ehm," Chloe notified them of her presence. "Oh, you are... here..." Amir's widened eyes observed her as she walked further into the room. He didn’t look away even after she found herself a seat. Seconds later, as she queried his long stare with a c**k of her brow, he chuckled and said, “You look… amazing. And gorgeous.” "Okay.” She hid her smile. “You can stop eye-f*****g me now, sir.” "I’ve got this feeling that you would be a good tease." Sebastian looked at her. He didn't stare much. He said, "She is dressed for the job." As her hand reached to play with her ponytail, Chloe shifted forward. "Job? What job?” "We found out who has been framing Amir. I have been trailing him for some time now, and thanks to a great opportunity, I found out that he’ll be striking again… tonight." "Who is the victim this time?" Chloe asked. "The victim is never predetermined. He approaches a lady who wants to have fun, makes sure Amir is in the club, and does what he has to do." "So... what exactly do I have to do?" Amir exhaled before facing her. "We need you to lure him. You don't have to say yes to this because it can be dangerous. He can drug you or, heaven forbid, do something way worse. So Chloe, if you are not going to do it, I’ll understand." Chloe's eyes travelled to the wine cellar ahead. Amir was right, anything could go wrong. But then, she was currently undercover. Her life practically reeked of risks. "Am I going to be bugged?" she asked Sebastian. "Probably. Even though I have planted cameras in all corners of the club, tracking your movements from the start would be the best way to play things safe." She nodded. "I’ll do it." "The club will… Really?" Amir's shock was very evident. "I approached you because I wanted to help, didn't I?" "Oh, you are a darling." Chloe smiled. For some reason, as she smiled at him, she felt bad that one day Amir would find out who she was. She won't be a darling when that time finally comes. "Well, Chloe” Amir’s relief was followed by a smile that reached his eyes, “tonight's the night." She exhaled. "I feel it will be a long one." Sebastian turned his laptop to show her an image of her target. At the same time, he commented, "It is going to be a long one."
